The family of Archbishop Earl Paulk, who leads the megachurch Cathedral of the Holy Spirit at Chapel Hill Harvester Church in Atlanta, just got a little closer.
Turns out the Archbishop’s nephew is actually his son.
The good reverend slept with his brother’s wife and fathered a child with her 34 years ago. D.E. Paulk, who is senior pastor at the church, is the living proof.
This isn’t the first time the elder Paulk has been at the center of a sex scandal. A former church employee, Mona Brewer, is suing him for coercing her into a 14-year affair. But the newest allegation presents a twist:
In a 2006 deposition stemming from the lawsuit, the archbishop said under oath that the only woman he had ever had sex with outside of his marriage was Brewer. But the paternity test said otherwise.
I’m not sure exactly what Paulk’s pastoral vows consisted of, but it sounds like he needs a refresher on that pesky Seventh Commandment.
