Lindsay Lohan was spotted drinking during her stay in New York, according to Gatecrasher. The fresh-out-of-rehab starlet’s friend reported to the New York Daily News:
“For Lindsay, her real problem was drugs, not alcohol. In the past, it wasn’t the drinking that was the problem — it was the heavy drug use,” says the friend. “The drug use was way more intense than her party drinking. As long as she isn’t doing drugs, she’s okay.”
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe step one of sobriety is being sober. Even Lindsay knows this, as she explained in OK! magazine in October:
“Tempation is always there,” the 21-year-old actress admits, adding, “but now I’ll avoid it the right way.”
A good start to avoiding temptation: not partying.

Lindsay will die early anyway. It is how soon she’ll die and how exactly that her choices will
determine.
The first thing taught in rehab is to avoid all drugs and alcohol.
Uhm…the first thing taught in most AMERICAN style rehabs is to avoid all drugs and alcohol. It is bullshit, actually. Real self control and discipline can be used to enjoy certain substances in moderation. Everyone does drugs (have a look at your morning coffee)…the key is to not NEED any of them.
This girl has looked a lot healthier and happier lately. The notion that she should never drink again only comes from one camp in the whole drug rehabilitation spectrum. There are many different possible approaches…why do people assume there is only abstinence or addiction when so many people who do not abstain are not addicted?
I do and don’t feel bad fot her. I mean it does run in her family. I’m just going to hope the best forher and hope that everything turns out okay and she turns out sober and drug-free in the end.
ITA with Casey. maybe some people need to quit everything so that they aren’t tempted to slip back into other things, but not everyone is like that. i had a nasty meth habit for a few years and i was able to quit - without rehab, btw. i never had a problem with alcohol - so i have a drink maybe 3-4 times a year. alcohol was not my addiction so there was no temptation to over- indulge. i’ve been free of meth for 15 years, so i feel confident in what i’m saying. i also don’t like the idea that you MUST got to a rehab facility or you’ll never recover. i believe that gives people the wrong idea. the idea that, if, for whatever reason, they are unable to go to rehab - there’s no hope. my husband and i both quit after years of using. our secret? we moved and didn’t tell anyone where AND a lot of will power and white knuckling it. it can be done. in the end, it’s YOU that has to make the decision to stop. so, for those of you that aren’t able to go to rehab - you can still do it. honest.
lindsay i use to see you as a innocent actress that does not have abad image but with what i’ve seen now is unfair to me and we your fans please change you attitude and please stop doing drugs and driking just go to the church and beg god for forgiveness.just like what jodi said you can equally go to a rehab facility
Lindsay is 21. I’m 24. Naturally, I wish I had her money (I wouldn’t sniff it all up my nose, of course). And I wish I had her looks, although she never looked better than she did as a young teenager and she’ll never look that good again. She was curvy and fresh and hot then. Now she’s just thin and average, with a bad boob job. I, too, am “over the hill” already, although thankfully not wearing LEGGINGS everywhere I go. Being born in the early 80’s does NOT mean that you have the right to wear leggings as pants. But anyway, she’ll be fine. She’s still famous now, for reasons I’m unclear about, so let her have her fun. In a few years she’ll figure out that she needs to sober up if she wants to stay in the limelight. Who cares either way? She’s hot, but not talented.
she used to be cool.
Now she’s totally lost it. T_T
shame..!
And why do we care? If she is drinking in any capacity again, I would guarantee she’ll be back at the coke within 6 months - the bottom line, she has admitted she is an alcoholic and addict - the definition of an alcoholic is one that doesn’t drink like a normal person. Any alcoholic can tell you that it doesn’t just stop with 3 or 4, so even if it is true, I would bet if she is trul an alcoholic, give it a few weeks before she is on bender after bender and hitting the coke again.
Just some thoughts from a recovering alcoholic. As a side note, I would love to see how these celebrities would fare in a more normal rehab, rather than the rich version.
I agree with the idea that you shouldn’t drink if you are a drug addict, and you shouldn’t drug if you are an alocholic!
For one thing, the whole point is to learn how to deal with life without having to mask your feelings.
For another thing, it’s considered very risky to do one mind-altering substance if you are addicted to another one. If it is so important to drink that you are willing to risk your sobriety then maybe you have a problem with alcohol!
My ex-BF, who I met in rehab (bad idea) never “dealt with his sh&t”, meaning he never dealt with the emotional problems that he was trying to mask by doing drugs. He decided that since he was a cocaine addict, he could still drink. And drink he did. Then he went back to using drugs. Plus he picked up a new addiction on the way- gambling! Way to go!
Oh, and regarding this comment:
“why do people assume there is only abstinence or addiction when so many people who do not abstain are not addicted?”
People who do not abstain and are not addicted are not addicts. It’s addicts who need to choose between abstaining and being addicted. If they could do their drugs in moderation, they wouldn’t be addicts!
i feel no pity for her in the sense that you are supposed to set a good example, not need a good one.but on the other hand, ther is alot of pressure in Hollywood to be perfect.
Rehab is for quitters
