Fox News glossed over Kiefer Sutherland’s admittance to jail this morning, despite its round-the-clock coverage of other celebrities convicted of DUI:
…this morning’s FOX and Friends [12/6/07] spent a mere 16 seconds on Kiefer Sutherland’s legal issues this morning.
So how does that support the argument they spend way too much time on celebrity news?
Because the 16 seconds was all it took to give the facts: Sutherland checked into Glendale City Jail for a 48-day sentence on a second DUI conviction. He will be on probation for 5 years, must complete 1.5 years of alcohol education and 6 months of therapy, and pay a $510 fine.
It couldn’t be that he got only 16 seconds of coverage because Jack Bauer is one of Fox’s biggest moneymakers, could it? Or am I just too cynical?
