The gingerbread latte fix at Starbucks is an essential part of any 20-something’s morning routine (see: Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, me).
So I’m particularly disappointed to hear that Paul McCartney is too good for a Starbucks brew, even though they paid him tons to be the first artist to sign onto the coffee chain’s “Hear Music” label earlier this year.
At the time he signed his deal, he praised the company:
“For me, the great thing is the commitment and the passion and the love of music, which as an artist is good to see … It’s a new world now, and people are thinking of new ways to reach the people and for me that’s always been my aim.”
But now:
“I go to the cafe next door to one of the Starbucks … I don’t often sit in Starbucks.”
Commitment, pffft. It sounds to me like he’s trying to restore his street cred among aging hippies, all while pimping out his image to make money off Starbucks’s yuppie clientele. See also: McTwee, a white tea that the former Beatle enjoys both brewed as a beverage or smoked (!?) in a pipe.
