Did you watch Live Earth last July? If you’re one of the few who did, at one point — I’m not sure if it was before or after John Mayer and Kanye West ruined “Message in a Bottle” — Sting said he would “work to reduce” his carbon footprint. Well, he doesn’t seem to be working hard enough:
In the round-up of green credentials of live acts, Sting and the newly reformed Police have been named “the dirtiest band in the world.”
Their biggest green crime, according to experts, isn’t their love of fast cars, country mansions or jets — but the massive environmental toll of their gigs.
Though not the only rock band to play huge stadiums, the Police were singled out because of the size and scale of their current world tour. An estimated 1.5 million fans will travel tens of millions of miles to see them perform at one of more than 100 venues.
The conclusion comes from John Buckly, an environmental adviser from www.carbonfootprint.com.
And that’s not even counting Sting’s homes in England, Tuscany, NYC, Malibu, and wherever else. Not to mention the homes of his wife’s many plastic surgeons:

Did you know that if Sting wore a hat, the reduction in reflected sunlight would drop the Earth’s global temperature by 7 degrees Celsius? I’m not exactly sure on the global warming numbers there, but when has that ever stopped anybody?
p.s. Madonna, another Live Earth headliner, spends 10 grand a month on bottled water. Which is bad for the planet. Of course, name something about Madonna that isn’t!
