In the glossy pages of Rolling Stone, Chris Daughtry has officially shunned American Idol, the show that spawned him. He interviewed:
“I feel like it’s definitely lacking some credibility at this point,” says Daughtry, who came in fourth place on the 2006 season but went on to sell 3.6 million copies of his debut record and be named one of Nielsen’s top ten selling artists of 2007. “It’s in a state of decline and if they don’t do something about it, it’s probably not gonna last too much longer.”
Oh, please.
American Idol has been in decline since well before Daughtry — and if threatened with torture, I don’t think I could tell Daughtry’s hits “Over You” and “It’s Not Over” apart, despite my local radio station’s insistence that they are two separate songs.
And it sounds like the show’s producers let him know they were not happy about it, because he followed up with a long-winded post on his blog:
“I’m eternally grateful for the opportunity that Idol gave me … I was never trying to ‘DISS’ the show or ‘BITE THE HAND THAT FED ME’ so to speak. I was simply giving my input on what I think would spice the show up a bit. Sorry for being honest.”
Love the last line, it has a nice little “impetuous brat” ring to it. At which point was he being honest again?

My first thought when I read that last line was “How old are you? 12?” I mean really the problem wasn’t that he was telling the “truth” but that he sounded like an ungrateful brat.
This guy is terrible. I can’t imagine anyones attraction to him on any level. Being overplayed on the radio doesn’t necessarily mean you’re good. Hell, some stations here in Chicago are still playing Billy Squire! How’s that for rock ‘n roll street cred.
i could never stand this guy!!!!
