Meow. Natalie Cole calls the wahmbulance in the next issue of People magazine, bitching about Amy Winehouse’s five Grammy wins:
“I don’t think she should have won. I think it sends a bad message to our young people who are trying to get into this business, the ones who are trying to do it right and really trying to keep themselves together,” said Cole, 58. “We have to stop rewarding bad behavior.”
However, the daughter of legendary crooner Nat King Cole described in her autobiography how she became addicted to crack cocaine in her youth and was arrested in 1975 for heroin possession — the same year she released her debut album. You know, the one that earned her the Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and the Best New Artist Grammys.
She seems to forgotten all that — I mean, it was so long ago that Amy Winehouse wasn’t even born yet — because she continues ranting about today’s youngsters:
“The girl really has a problem, and I think for those of us who have been in the business long enough, we know the sacrifice it takes. This is about discipline and hard work, and you don’t get to just do your drugs and go onstage and get rewarded.”
Damn the whippersnappers for being so young and relevant, and not just famous because of their dad.
