A tip from reader Steve-o: A domestic ecoterrorist group called the Earth Liberation Front has possibly taken responsibility for fires set to a housing development today in Seattle.
Arson has destroyed five luxury homes in the Street of Dreams development, which had been advertising that its $2-million houses were built using environmentally friendly practices. A sign reading “Built green? Nope black!” with the initials ELF was discovered nearby.
According to the FBI:
[T]he Earth Liberation Front claimed responsibility for burning five townhomes under construction on November 20, 2005, in Hagerstown, Maryland. Fire officials investigating the scene determined that kerosene was used as the accelerant in the arson, the FBI said.
The Earth Liberation Front: Because nothing says “Save the Planet” like raging infernos and the destructive use of jet fuel.

Not only that — but you just know those homes will be rebuilt, right? Imagine all the timber that will go into the second version of the same houses.
The message is somewhat akin to an anti-vegetarian bumper sticker I saw recently: “For every animal you save, I’ll eat two.” These lunatics are keeping Weyerhauser and Home Depot in business.
Wow that was a nice house. I say the punishment for members of ELF is they have to live in Seattle. Oh wait.
In a plummeting real estate market, it wouldn’t be possible that a developer with unsold, overpriced, faux-green McMansions would burn them down himself and frame a nameless faceless “terrorist” group. They operate in autonomous cells, so one cell couldn’t even come out and claim the ELF hadn’t done it, because they’d have no way of knowing.
It’s a win for the Feds, because they can demonize a “homegrown” terrorist group and further crack down on our civil liberties, so why would they investigate the builder and contradict the story?
Since anyone can claim to be the ELF, perhaps the builder himself is the ELF and is a very conflicted individual. ^_^
