Dita Von Teese Is a Silly Goose

Remember this, not too long ago?

PETA and Dita, sittin’ in a tree! But not anymore:

Burlesque star Dita Von Teese has clashed with animal charity People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA), after confessing her love for controversial French delicacy foie gras… telling The New York Times, “My guilty pleasure is eating foie gras in Paris. I feel guilty and horrible about it.”

Her comments have angered PETA.

She shouldn’t take it personally, though. There’s very little that doesn’t anger PETA.

    Awww… How sad.

    Someone lost her PC indulgences…

Note to self: Add Foie Gras to grocery list. :D

I would do whatever Dita told me to do. Even eat stuffed buffalo testicals or whatever foie gras is. Are you reading this Dita? Whatever evil she does in the world is more than made up for with that whole Marilyn Manson thing. That’s punishment enough.

I don’t understand…was she supposed to be a vegetarian? How is eating mashed goose liver controversial? What, do the geese wake up in a tub of ice with a note or something? A bit lofty from an organization that encourages people to surgically remove their animals gonads.

  4. 4 Jenn Apr 5th, 2008 at 11:31 am

MH it is the manner in which the fatted goose liver is obtained that many object to (PETA just objects to everything)The goose is force fed via a tube. Not pleasant.

Of all the campaigns PETA has done, this was the only one that made any sense to me. Spaying and neutering our pets is an important way to control the amount of stray and unwanted pet population.
Do you have to be a vegetarian to care about animals? Why is it all or nothing?
    I hate PETA.

in her interview dita said that she got in trouble with peta for eating it,so the whole quote from an artist should be printed, not just enough to create a stir.

As much as I hate peta, and think they’re nothing but a bunch of terrorists, I almost fell for their whole chicken/goose foie gras schtick. Until I found out about Mike the Headless chicken and realized that birds are so stupid they don’t even need a head to keep on living. Are geese really any different?

Birds are food. Nothing else. Except for maybe evolved dinosaurs.

Dear MassHysteria, it’s not about mashed goose liver, it’s about force feeding a living thing so their liver becomes swollen enough for disgusting people like her to eat. I’m sure it’s a lot less pleasant than a minimal surgical procedure that has minimal long term affects on the animal. Perhaps you should do some research.

  9. 9 The Oversneer Apr 6th, 2008 at 4:10 pm

Yeah … except that the ducks don’t have nerve endings in their necks like we do. Ducks are dinner. Why not use all of them?

  10. 10 kpriss Apr 6th, 2008 at 7:22 pm

have you ever saw how they force feed those birds so the famous so sighted about foie gras can be made? It’s disgusting :( and people make a social standard out of eating it.

  11. 11 The Oversneer Apr 6th, 2008 at 7:34 pm

I once saw a TV newsmgazine segment (like “20/20″ or “60 Minutes”) about it. They showed a duck farm in upstate New York at feeding time. The birds were all actively competing with each other to be at the front of the line for thie “force-feeding.” I seem to remember the farmer explaining that fowl naturally gorge themselves (and enlarge their livers) in preparation for migrating. This is just jump-starting the process and doing it “out of season.” We fatten cattle up on feedlots prior to slaughter. Same thing with pigs, chickens, turkeys. What’s the diff?

  12. 12 Berry Apr 7th, 2008 at 1:19 am

Um… Regardless of your views on foie gras (I’m personally opposed, but that’s just me. I have no interest in telling someone else what they should or should not eat) I remember Teese did an interview during her PETA campaign where she said that when she was initially approached by PETA she was very candid about NOT being a vegetarian, and was that going to be a problem with PETA’s agenda. As I recall, their response was “that’s fine, we will just focus on this aspect of the campaign. We will take as much or as little publicity you want to help us out with. You don’t have to be a vegetarian to be against wearing fur.”

In other words, Teese has been up front about things from the beginning.

  13. 13 Berry Apr 7th, 2008 at 1:21 am

Sorry, I meant that they were OK with her endorsing the spay/neuter campaign, not the fur thing. My bad.

  14. 14 gravyboat Apr 7th, 2008 at 5:39 am

She should just keep her mouth shut and her ass in the air. That’s all she’s good for.

    Um…

  16. 16 tazzyfoo Apr 7th, 2008 at 5:20 pm

Damn her legs look hideous in that pic.
If i didn’t know any better i’d say that was a man, baby.

  17. 17 ILY Dita! Apr 8th, 2008 at 1:51 am

PETA hired her for bringing awareness to the importance of neutering your pets. She never claimed to be vegetarian or vegan. So really WTF is the big deal? PETA should be grateful she did a campaign to them & is bringing public attention to this situation. Everything makes PETA mad… why do celebs still bother to do PETA ads when peta will eventually end up getting mad at them. Everything gets them mad!! I’m tired of it!!! :|

  18. 18 Samantha Apr 8th, 2008 at 2:15 am

LOL tazzyfoo. I agree with gravyboat, shut up Dita! Force-feeding anything is awful. It’s disgusting how careless people are whenever a living creature that cannot communicate with humans is concerned. Dirt is treated better. Let’s evolve into cannibals and just start eating people. Fast forward to that. That’s how heartless everyone is.

  19. 19 Samantha (a smarter one) Apr 8th, 2008 at 4:05 pm

Unless all of you are vegans, I’d suggest shutting up about how Dita is a hypocrite and how ZOMG horrible it is to force feed animals. And you think the eggs and milk you get are always from happy animals? What about the MEAT you eat…You know, dead animals. Hope it’s not kosher because then it means your meat’s throat was slit and it bled to death. Hope all of your animal products come from animals that haven’t been forced fed anti biotics or given hormones. And you know, cows are often fed chicken feces because it’s considered “protein”. If you do any of those things and criticize Dita, then you are a hypocrite.

Dita isn’t a vegetarian and didn’t claim to be. Her campaign was purely about population control and she was influenced by her pets.

By the way, the quote is somewhat out of context and has bits left out…Like how DITA mentioned PETA didn’t like her eating foie gras. Yes, she pointed it out in the same interview, in the same section where she was talking about eating foie gras.

PETA is for retards anyway. I hate that Dita’s done anything for them, even if this particular campaign isn’t like their other crazy crap.

And allow me to laugh at Dita being called a man…Somehow I don’t think anyone here would get paid thousands of dollars just to dance on stage for ten minutes.

  20. 20 luni lardbuns Apr 8th, 2008 at 4:35 pm

    first!!!
    jesus rocks!

  21. 21 brittany Apr 8th, 2008 at 4:49 pm

I don’t understand why she is feeling so guilty about admitting this… She was in town at the end of jan. and I saw her walking around in a juicy track suit and a FUR COAT not faux either! confused.

  22. 22 fill Apr 8th, 2008 at 5:06 pm

Dita is flawless…how in the world can you call those man legs?! Sounds like jealousy.

And clearly those of you so outraged by her indulgence of foie gras have never tasted it. Yes, it’s awful the way it must be cultivated, but it’s damn delicious.

Why not just let people do what they feel is appropriate or acceptable instead of judging them because they happen to enjoy an animal product? There is nothing worse in this world than an adamant and close-minded vegetarian. Eat what you like…Let’s focus on issues that are way more important and threatening to society than a few dead ducks.

  23. 23 Anne Apr 8th, 2008 at 9:28 pm

Okay ‘Samantha (a [sic] smarter one’, if force feeding is okay, then lets force-feed you until you’re in pain. Your ignorance is so thick, I’m almost embarassed for you.

  24. 24 The Oversneer Apr 8th, 2008 at 9:39 pm

Anne — If you don’t like duck liver, don’t eat it. But your right to be a vegan nut-ball ends where my strip steak begins. Or something like that.

  25. 25 Simon Scowl Apr 8th, 2008 at 11:11 pm

I’m pretty sure eating people is still illegal, and I don’t think force-feeding has the same effect on a human’s liver anyway. But otherwise, good point.

  26. 26 Pastafarian Apr 12th, 2008 at 7:17 pm

Eating people is illegal??!! Uh oh.
