All Hail Leo DiCaprio! Economies Of Scale Fall At His Feet!

Thanks to reader Pastafarian, we learn today that Leonardo DiCaprio has bought a gigantic new apartment in New York City. But don’t worry. It’s “eco-friendly”:

Environmentally conscious Leonardo DiCaprio is practicing what he preaches these days. The actor recently added an eco-friendly apartment in New York City to his impressive list of earth-healthy possessions, which already include a hybrid car and a solar paneled home in Los Angeles …

The 264-unit condominium glass tower overlooks the river and a park, and boasts low emission paints, a 24-hour fresh filtered air system, a water treatment facility and rotating solar panels.

Don’t you feel like a carbon-sucking schlub now? Well… Don’t. Blogger Les Jones has dug up a photo of DiCaprio’s Los Angeles mansion:

I don’t care if the palace that Titanic built is made of recycled Greenpeace brochures. Leo still uses more power than the average extended family of 50. He just has the luxury (and the bucks) to generate most of it himself.

I wonder how he heats the pool. Hot air from his publicist?

I was gonna install solar panels on my house too. Until I realized the $50,000 it would have cost me would pay my electric bill for the next 20 years.

looks like a city NOT a house!!! Memo to self - stop recycling, let Leo do it for me with that house, he must have enough recycles to keep twenty of us from doing it. What is his electric bill? What is his tax bill? If we all stop going to his movies he will have to sell it a la Michael Jackson hee hee

This is another case of “Do as I said, not what I do”.

This or he gets a real good publicist.

Why would one single man need a house that huge?

    >>Why would one single man need a house that huge?<<

Why not? He got the money, he’s free to buy it.
My beef is all about his crass attitude about his position on the environment. I see no solar panels on his house. How can he be a champion of ecology if he doesn’t act the part? Unlike the common man out there, he got the means to live a “Zero Carbon” lifestyle. He should preach by the example.

What a smug hypocrite. A shining example of do as I say not as I do. This pompous short little mimic would be well advised that when you take up a cause you need to practice what you preach. Examples of doing that would be Brad Pitt and George Clooney. One doesnt have to agree with them or their views but they do get credit for their actions. I think good ol’ Leo should keep on looking like a bum, going out with girls who look really happy to be with him, being rude to his dwindling fan base and forgetting to work out. That way he wont need to worry about a movie career and can devote himself entirely to saving the environment for us ungrateful peons. Whewwww I feel soooo much better for getting that off my chest!!!!
