Each of us has a valid argument and its not your fault the u.s. gov't has mandated "free trade". The point here is that CHINA is wrecking the planet at a rate far worse than the rest of the world and they still get "developing nation status" to jusitfy the unbridled growth of that nation without any specific protocols for the environment or banking for that matter. The irony is that we are essentially addicted to China which supports our cycle of cheap, (perceivably) perfect, now consumption. There is no argument against hunger but their is an argument for quality, diversity, and choice for hard goods and textiles.

I didn't miss your point db. Your just wrong thats all.

I just wonder how some people would feel, if it was say a Whole Foods moving into a neighborhood and driving a small "mom and pop" organic store out of business.

Does anyone that reads this site actually know what that means? To be Hungry In America? And you blame me for "splurging" on a new bra every 6 months, from Wal-Mart at $5.99? I actually bought some new underwear a few months ago too! Gosh, that was a happy day too. No more elastic pulling up on one side, as cotton falls down the cheek, and worrying that my coworkers might be able to see the pinching and pulling or crack-riding panties through my clothes.
New, clean, underwear! What a joyous day in America for a LOSER LIKE ME. What have I done to be ridiculed by ppl here? I paid my dues, I went through college, I graduated in the top 1/4 of my college class, and I have been Hungry in America. Where is my American dream?

I happen to shop at Wal-Mart. I'm guessing I'm about what the average American is. I have a college degree, I've been working post-grad for the last 11 yrs. and never had a job that afforded me an income of more than $37,000 a yr. and that's a lucky day for me to earn that much.
I've been through worse times. I happen to be one of those unfortunate American's that actually BEEN HUNGRY

Yes. Bring their star power to free Tibet. So I'm sure the Chinese government will have an emergency cabinet meeting because "Hollywood is mad at them!" And presto a free Tibet! Everything will be solved. Just like Hollywood star power solved ... mmm ...

What stars should do is say something about things they can do something about, like go help build a house, start a scholarship fund, refuse to do horrible movies no matter how much they pay, encourage us to adopt pets from shelters and get our them spayed or neutered. Hollywood stars and starlets aren't going to affect a change in international politics unless they are sleeping with one of these power brokers. And in that case, they'd only be effective if the 'suicide' can't be properly sold.

As for WalMart, people don't like premium prices. They like 'Everyday low prices.' Look at all these fast food places with Dollar menus and value meals. Remember those 'Made in the USA' ads from the 90s? If you don't my point is made, if you do, the people that don't still make my point. Consumerism isn't going to kill America, ignorance is. Your 2012 conspiracy sentence is all I need to realize you're one of the ignorant lot.

Call me Thomas Paine 'cause putting down so much common sense,

I'd rather celebs speak up about things like this rather than stay quiet and not use their star power to bring attention to these issues.

Pastafarian missed my point completely and is defending a store which he doesn't even shop at .. this the mindless consumerism I am tryng to fight. Wal-Mart opens a new giant store EACH DAY, can you even understand what that means? Not only do they open their store they always buy up all the immediate area land and make all kinds of use restrictions for any product that might compete with them. This makes it difficult to sell the land but the world is full of Pastafarian's who will overpay for it. And yes, I, myself, never shop there but the population will and they do not realize they are lining our future enemy's pockets. The Eagle will join with the Sickle to fight the Dragon in 2012, understand? I thought not.

YEAH! Screw Wal-Mart! How dare they sell stuff I can afford, and become successful doing it!! Where were all of these asinine arguments when Sears was the "Worlds Largest Store"?

If you don't like Wal-Mart, don't shop there. It's easy.

Actually I've only been in Wal-Mart once.
