Willem Dafoe thinks the movie business is too focused on big box office:
“People get too obsessed with a kind of puritanical thing in our society. If it doesn’t make money… it isn’t worth anything. There’s an anti-art thing for us in this country.”
Putting aside why in the world that’s “puritanical,” does he know that he was in all three Spider-Man movies? Did he think xXx: State of the Union and Speed 2: Cruise Control were quaint little art films? He turned down every penny he earned from Finding Nemo, I’ll bet. He is an artiste.
Why is it that the people who tell us money isn’t everything are usually stinkin’ rich?

Do you think these people realize that they work for “multi-national corporations”? Sony Pictures is exactly like Wal-Mart. Well, they sell fewer plus sized jeans I guess.
Well, what he said it’s true. He has a point. Big deal.
That must be why they call it “show-art”, not “show-business”. Oh, wait.
