Miley Cyrus Photo Scandal, Take Eleventy

miley_cyrus_vf.jpgMiley “I Do Everything For Jesus” Cyrus has admitted that it was indeed her (and not a lookalike) in those bra-baring photos we talked about last week.

And for all you pervs out in the interwebs, there are evidently more to come in the June issue of Vanity Fair.

Photos of the Disney star wearing just red lipstick and a bed sheet — shot by legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz — have popped up online. For which Miley is already apologizing (again):

“I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic’ and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed,” Miley said in a statement. “I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about.”

Disney seems to be afraid that their little girl is going the Britney path a little too soon, but Vanity Fair stands by the shoot:

“Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines,” Disney spokeswoman Patti McTeague asserts to the Times.

Not surprisingly, Vanity Fair has a different take on how the photo shoot went down, with a rep insisting, “Miley’s parents and/or minders were on the set all day. Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley.”

This is pretty much why it’s never a good idea to try to make money off your morals: Someone always notices when you slip up.

Have to get them ready now so they will be full blown whores by the time they hit 18. There is a lot of competition out here what with Lohan and Spears’ youngers coming along so well.

  3. 3 Chronic Malanga Apr 28th, 2008 at 12:42 pm

The pictures were tasteful and cute before Disney got wind of them and made Miley and her family change their story. Puleeeeeze. Who really wants to see that monkey faced little hypocrite in a sheet anyway…or a bra… or at all?

  4. 4 pringles are good Apr 28th, 2008 at 2:48 pm

  5. 5 Hurricane Apr 28th, 2008 at 2:51 pm

Pringles: I agree about us all making mistakes. My most recent was trying to read your comments all the way through. Wow! Public education at its best! I will apologize if and when Emma Watson does indeed pose for Playboy. Now excuse while I go take a few Advil.

Why does the media insist on turning teenagers into mini adults? it borders on child pornography. Yes, I know she is wearing a sheet, but seriously, the reference is clear. Miley Cyrus is walking such a thin line, it’s no wonder she falls off of it. Her parents aren’t helping, either.

  7. 7 reayx5 Apr 28th, 2008 at 3:16 pm

That sound you hear is my achy breaky fart. Did they Photoshop her tail… all monkeys have them.

  8. 8 Pastafarian Apr 28th, 2008 at 4:01 pm

I just love how you can tell a commenter is, like, OMG, 14.

“bout u wanting 2 have sex with her…”

    “get over urself every1″

Hope all that spelling comes in handy on your rezooma

I’m so sick of this little whore in training. She needs to own her sluttyness instead of making lame apologies and excuses for it. That picture would’ve looked like a nice portrait, had she been wearing an age appropriate gown instead of a bed sheet and a “just f*cked” look on her face.

Oh and Pringles, like, when u learn how 2 like, spell, like, maybe then we’ll like, give a rat’s ass what u hav 2 say, like, k?

  10. 10 rocksteady Apr 28th, 2008 at 5:53 pm

personally, i can’t stand this girl and her silly little television show, so if she wants to pose in a bedsheet and try to look sexy and pretend she’s more religious than a priest i couldn’t give a damn.

  11. 11 Drakhen Apr 28th, 2008 at 6:37 pm

Ummmmm, hello? Can you say 15 year old little girl? She probably wants a tattoo and her nose pierced too, does that mean that the ADULTS in her life should let her? So what if she thought that it was okay, she is a little girl. The individuals that should really have donkey crap thrown at them are A. Annie Whatshername for wanting to take borderline porno photos of a juvenile (jail time!!!) B. Vanity Fair for not saying WTF?!??!?!? you took WHAT kind of photos of a little girl and lastly and mostly C. Why were her parents not slapping the bitch photog in the face and storming out of there….she seems to be a pretty good meal ticket even without the slutification. Artsy my ass….

  12. 12 Chronic Malanga Apr 28th, 2008 at 7:39 pm

It’s not even the fact that she posed for these pictures that is so disturbing. It’s the sudden about face, as pointed out on this web site once Disney let fly that they were not happy about it. Cyrus turned around and threw Vanity Fair, as well as a world renowned photographer under the bus, acting as though she had been tricked into doing a porno movie. All that was missing from her statement was claiming that she had been drugged. She and her parents, who approved of this photo shoot, knew what they were getting into. She might as well remain Disney property until her 15 minutes are up because magazines like Vanity Fair are going to avoid her like the plague from now on, and rightfully so.

I don’t even think that the pictures are trashy or tasteless from what I have seen. They are certainly more tasteful than the other ones floating around the internet, and she’s not pushing out her bottom lip and throwing the tired peace sign like she does in every other picture we see of her, so it’s an improvement.

Maybe performers should just stick to performing and the general public should stop worrying about the virginal image that is only going to go so far before she pulls a Britney.

And Pringles, like, yeah, I totally agree with the others. Learn to spell and post when you come down from that huffing high.

  13. 13 carri Apr 28th, 2008 at 7:56 pm

The photog–Annie Liebovitz–knew EXACTLY what she was portraying when she took that shot, what America loves best–pimping out little girls and making them look like whores. The mussed-up hair, the bedsheet, the smeared lipstick…it all says one thing–a pedophile’s dream. She’s a world-class photog and probably soothed their doubts by telling them how “beautiful” and “artsy” the photo looked. It was her suggestion–she sets up the photo shoots–and she’s probably patting herself on the back on how smooth she was, talking those hicks into setting themselves up like that. Look at her other photos and tell me she isn’t just another one of those who gets paid to manipulate our society and culture with subliminal messaages.

  14. 14 bootie Apr 28th, 2008 at 8:15 pm

Oh please…blame the parents if you insist, but don’t blame Annie Liebowitz for taking tasteful pictures…it’s not like she asked a 17 year old Jamie Lynn Speared (well that’s what she is now, isn’t she?) to pose nude like Demi Moore did back in the day and it’s not like Cyrus posed for Mapplethorpe.

  15. 15 King Apr 28th, 2008 at 8:16 pm

Listen, You people….1st of all, society trys tellin people how to live a certain way (90% of you posting is evidence) dammit, if they let their daughter do whatever/get whatever then they are the ones responsible. 15 is a pg or is a pg-13? so its all good. Leave people the F alone. Raise your own kids…..

  16. 16 Rocko Apr 28th, 2008 at 8:56 pm

    artsy = nudity or sexy

Just because a woman is taking the photo does not change that rule. I always invite women to take artistic photos and make artistic home movies.

  17. 17 Jim D Apr 28th, 2008 at 8:58 pm

Let me get this straight: she exposed her back. Do I have that right?

With all that’s wrong with the world, there are people out there with minds tiny enough to be filled with this fake “issue”? The phrase “get a life” seems woefully inadequate.

And then we have Disney, hell-bent on making as much money as possible from people afflicted with tiny minds, telling the girl that no, the photos are not artistic, and she needs to apologize to their customers (oops, I mean her fans). For exposing her back. In a magazine probably not read by even one of her hordes of 8-14 year-old admirers. 99% of whom would probably think “hey, great pictures” if shown the photos without sanctimonious, sex-obsessed adults around to poison the atmosphere.. Thank you, tabloid media, thank you, Disney, for turning an ordinary VF photo shoot into a nightmare for this kid.

The girl should tell the lot of them to f off, but her parents are probably not keen on losing out on the loot.

Take talented, intelligent, well-adjusted kids, surround them with neurotic, greedy adults feeding off their talent, and the results seem inevitable. It will be a miracle if she gets to age 20 without becoming another Spears/Lohan train wreck. Oprah can schedule the post-rehab interview now.

  18. 18 Anonymous Apr 28th, 2008 at 8:59 pm

This idiot is just trying to throw the heat off of the tasteless whorey photos she herself took by claiming the great Annie Liebowitz duped her by making art. Creepier to me is the sex pic of her and daddy-dearest.
She needs to crawl back to Achy Breaky obscurity.

  19. 19 Rocko Apr 28th, 2008 at 11:39 pm

This much of Jim D’s post is true, this was an ordinary Vanity Fair shoot.

  20. 20 Lesley Apr 29th, 2008 at 4:31 am

Should her parent have stoped the sheet pic’s _ YES,they are not even sexy, just plain trashy. As for the rest if I took pics like that I would be ashamed for my lack of talent. Hope this is a leasson well learnt by Miley. I still think you rock & have enough talent & brains not to turn into a Britney copy.

  21. 21 Jane Apr 29th, 2008 at 8:28 am

if she wanted to make, this is not our problem !!
leave her, take care of tour life !

  22. 22 Hurricane Apr 29th, 2008 at 10:17 am

Jane- how can I take care of “tour life” when I don’t know what that is? And to think I haven’t been taking care of all these many years! Where are my roadies??

  23. 23 Pastafarian Apr 29th, 2008 at 11:00 am

She’s mildly cute at best anyway.

  24. 24 jlynn Apr 29th, 2008 at 11:32 pm

To be honest, the pictures in my opinion weren’t that bad. She wasn’t making some “come f*** me face”. It was just like some very famous girl, stripped of her costumes and glamour and just simple and pretty for Vanity Fair. I honestly feel as though the media is trying to push some “oh my god, this is pornography” kind of thing on her when the fact is there is much worse young sexuality going on in television.
She (and her family) should have owned this rather than backing down to the public’s opinion. They made the decision for one reason or the other, they should stick by it and say why, it would be refreshing.

  25. 25 Chronic Malanga Apr 30th, 2008 at 4:24 am

I agree, jlynn. The pictures are nowhere near trashy, and anyone that’s seeing a “Come F me” face is seeing it because they are the ones wanting to make something dirty out of what’s not. Slow news day, so the media plays off of the few fans that are outraged. And quite frankly, while I have been a fan of many a celebrity/actor/performer, their behavior has to be pretty bad to make me care that freakin’ much. Disney has their knickers in a twist over the few outraged fans, so they are making themselves look really bad by telling her she needs to lay low and acting all holier than thou about the situation.

Miley and her family should have never backed down on their initial opinion because now they are looking like complete idiots in all of this. The parents look like ignorant hicks, and Miley comes off like the type of kid who would screw a boy in the backseat and then have him arrested for it.

  26. 26 weyes Apr 30th, 2008 at 1:43 pm

i think there’s just no winning with the girl. no matter what she does from here on in, people will criticize her for some reason or another. but if she doesn’t crash and burn on her own, it won’t just be outside pressure that would HELP set her on a downward spiral - it’s that people WANT her to fail.

  27. 27 Anonymous May 8th, 2008 at 1:07 pm

Okay, blood hungry idiots of the celebutane world, her photos were taken by Annie Lebowitz. ANNIE LEBOWITZ. Do you people even know who that is?!??! this woman took the last photo of John Lennon and Yoko Ono before he was shot! the woman is an artist and any FOOL should know that. i would shit my pants to be photographed by her. the wrap she is wrapped in is not a ’sexy bedsheet’ it is a roman drape used in many classic and famous artistic pieces. the girl obviously has wonderful taste to let such a woman photograph her, and i am extremely ashamed that she is so misunderstood.

PUNANE ALL OVER YOUR BREKFAST CEREAL AND POO POO KISSES FOR YOUR DIAREAH THIGHS

  31. 31 Dan Jun 19th, 2008 at 4:57 am

I’d start off by saying “who gives a f*ck,” but this celebrity gossip sh*t is just too much fun to pass up. I, for one, think it is the best picture I have ever seen of this poor, contrived Disney chick. She’s not original or interesting in the least… and not even pretty. But Annie Leibovitz? That’s a true artist that should not have to stoop to photographing some disposable, cattle-minded pop star. The only thing that really pisses me off about the photo shoot is not the blanket picture, slutty as it is. The “OMG I’m cute and hardcore!” devil horns made me want to maim her. I’m okay with her clogging up the industry with lackluster bubblegum pop-rock, but it irks me how the symbol avidly used by metalheads and satanists was adopted and shat on by hordes of camera-whoring pricks… or cutesy little pop stars. Just… no.
And come on, you cannot deny that she is trying to as “sexy” as friggin possible.

  32. 32 emma Jul 17th, 2008 at 1:14 pm

Oh my god! I’m such a goody goody. I represent Disney well. Whatever. Miley Cyrus is such a slut! and the song 7 things things she is annoying and full of it. God, just stop trying to get all the atttention.
