“I’m doing really good. Actually, I just went to my doctor, Dr. Huizenga. He took all my blood work and went through all my tests. And I hadn’t really been to him in a year-and-a-half. And he said he’s never seen me healthier. That, he said, it’s a miracle. You know, I don’t really work out a lot. I walk and play sports with my kids. But he says, ‘You’re in the best shape I’ve ever seen you in. You’re 40 years old and your liver is in great shape, all your blood work came back really well, low cholesterol.’ … I’m treating it homeopathically.”
And here’s what she said about 30 seconds later, which nobody seems to have noticed. (scroll the video to 02:30):
“I’m here in Washington because Dan Mathews and I are actually lobbying and getting some attention to, against, um, animal experimentation. And they finally met with us today, which is a miracle. They’ve been trying to meet with — PETA’s been trying to meet with them forever. And so they saw us today.”
Um … earth to Pammy … even if you are treating yourself with herbs and tree bark (which I’m not buying), animal experimentation is how we cure things in the part of the world where Playboy, not National Geographic, takes the naked pictures. It’s only been 18 years since scientists identified the virus that causes your disease. And the best hope for a cure involves studying chimpanzees to try and figure out why some of them are immune, since they’re the only animals that get hepatitis.
The fact that you pal around with PETA while they throw up roadblocks to this research should put you in the Deceiver.com Hall of Fame, if we ever build one. I’m betting they tested boobie implants, hair dye, collagen injections, and botox on animals at some point, too.
(BTW, who’s this Dr. Huizenga? I can only find one in the Los Angeles phone book, and he’s the guy who testified in the O.J. Simpson murder trial. For the defense. I’m just saying …)
While I’m on the subject of Pam Anderson, I’m not getting sucked in by the rumor that she recently ate a meat hot dog (fill in your own joke here) at her son’s Little League game. I don’t care if it was a veggie dog. PETA be damned, she served the real thing at her own wedding reception. Which she now claims “never happened,” thanks to the technicality of an annulment.
Two more things make me wonder how many personalities this bizarro woman has. She goes on the warpath against wearing fur coats, but here’s what Robin Leach says about the world-renowned underwear retailer Trashy Lingerie (yes, that’s its real name):
“On any given day you may run into Madonna, picking up another one of her famous Bullet Corsets which Trashy specially designed for her. Or perhaps you might see Pamela Anderson Lee coming in for a fitting for another one of those super low V leather corsets like the one she wore in Barb Wire.”
I didn’t see the movie either. But WTF? It was real leather? Why didn’t PETA boycott this piece of cinematic guano?
And here’s my personal favorite: This month Pammy refused to film a scene for her new flick because there was supposed to be a dog in it:
The animal rights campaigner was upset when she discovered she would be starring alongside the canine in ‘Superhero Movie’, because the scene goes against PETA’s guidelines for using real animals in movies.
So much for Seabiscuit, Ben-Hur, The Wizard of Oz, Borat …
Borat? Yep. Pam Anderson was in that movie, too. She told Larry King on Friday that “It was my crowning achievement.” Remember that scene with the grizzly bear hanging out of the ice-cream truck window? With a chain around its neck?

Gee, a Hollywood celebrity is being hypocritical? What are the odds? Hollywood is a town full of followers, who will bend to whatever image needs to be portrayed to fit their purposes. There are tons of these types, who spew things like anti-fur nonsense. Then, when fur had a resurgence in the fashion world a few years back, all sorts of Hollywood starlets, some who had previously been anti-fur, were spotted wearing the furry pelts on their backs. Carmen Electra and Lindsay Lohan are just two names that pop in mind (of many). Heck, Ms. Lohan wears anti-fur buttons on her real fur coats! No joke. Only in Hollywood do people like Pamela Anderson run around in $1,500 Gucci lizard skin pumps telling people they shouldn’t wear fur. It amazes me how so many people hammer against PETA as a means to justify their continuing a lifestyle that does not take the welfare of animals into account.

You are a f**king idiot! Animal testing is outdated and produces inaccurate and often dangerous (to humans) data. In fact there have been hundreds of drugs that turned out to be extremely harmful to humans that had no negative effects on animals. Just because most American people do things a certain way, doesn’t mean that way is in any way correct or even logical.

I can’t believe I wasted my time reading this garbage. You didn’t deliver as promised. The argument is that animal testing should be banned not just because it is cruel but because it is of no real scientific benefit. Non-human animals are different from human animals in so many ways that the “data” gathered is useless. In the end humans have to take the drugs and that’s when we get the real dope. If animal testing really worked why do the pharma companies keep getting sued by the families of people who die taking their drugs?
In any event, just because a product was tested at some point in time doesn’t mean a vegan is precluded from using it. Misguided, systemic errors in testing protocol by the scientific community do not preclude the use of a given product.
The real rub comes with giving money to companies who will continue to use animal testing for new products (which most of big pharma is moving away from due to expense and inefficacy). That is a personal decision, and if a life saving drug like insulin will let a person keep living and making a positive contribution then that is just fine.
In minor notes: the corset could easily have been pleather, there are “Ugg” substitutes that do not contain animal products and there is no guarantee that P.A. knew about the bear in the movie when she appeared in it. She obviously has taken a stand on an occasion when she was aware of the abuse of an animal in a film so think it through. Borat looks like it was mostly shot with a $ 500 hand held video camera, who would have had any idea what those jackasses has shot prior to P.A.’s appearance (that’s even assuming that the bear part wasn’t shot post her part).

You’ll forgive me if I didn’t approve your comment right away, but I was tending to my mother who has Multiple Sclerosis — and whose only hope of a long-term reasonable quality of life rests with clinical trials being carried out through the use of lab rats and other animals.
For the record: Trashy Lingerie (not me) says Pam Anderson’s corset was real leather. She has publicly confirmed that her boots were genuine Uggs products. And here’s just a small list of medical breakthroughs which (a) were impressive enough to win Nobel Prizes, and (b) required research animals to achieve.
I don’t know what they’ve been filling your skull with in middle school, Jim, but all medical research (including animal research) has as its goal the mitigation of human suffering. The problem with your argument is that very, very few people would find the life of a lab rat to be as important as the life of my mother. Or yours. Or your next door neighbor. Or any of the 7 billion human beings I’ve never met.
I think that if animal rights activists are really interested in intellectual consistency, every last one of them should have to wear a Medic Alert bracelet that says “I would like to decline any medical treatment, no matter how trivial or crucial, that was developed through the involuntary use of my brothers and sisters in the animal kingdom.”

Not all products have been “tested on animals”; especially the more natural ones. There are plenty of “vegetarian safe” vitamins & such out there as well. Make-up and hair products that have never been tested on animals can also be purchased.
PETA is a caring organization. No one is perfect. Instead of trying to point out what is wrong with everything, we should all look for what is right and never stop trying to do and make things better.
