Disney Sends Miley Cyrus to Her Room

miley_cyrus_disney.jpgMiley Cyrus made an appearance yesterday at Walt Disney World, in Orlando. As you can see in this Disney-approved image, the teen idol is wearing clothes for the first time in weeks. They must be thrilled.

However, continuing the biggest overreaction in Mickey Mouse history, she will not be attending as scheduled the Disney Channel Games, a media event where young Disney stars compete to win money for charity. The cancellation seems to confirm a rumor that the New York Post reported earlier this week:

“You won’t be seeing her for a while,” a highranking Disney employee was overheard saying this weekend at a luncheon in LA, according to Page Six. “The company is keeping her away from events and wants her to keep a very low profile for the next four to six months. They’re trying to keep her contained.”

Contained? She’s 15 years old. Does she have fangs? Yes, I gave her some crap the other day for her whole “Praise Jesus!” schtick, but Disney is not her parent. So why are they grounding her?

Over reaction? I don’t think so. With Disney involved she’s lucky they didn’t take her out back and shoot her.

I grew up on Disney… and not that far from it. Now, as an adult, they scare me a little.

Don’t worry Chronic… Disney knows what’s best for you. By the way, Miley is only a “C” ticket.

Disney’s just reminding her where her bread is buttered and it’s not Vanity Fair.

The big cheese remembers the mess Vanessa Anne Hudgens generated lately with her nude pictures. I guess their actions are based on preventing such a situation. On the other side, if it drills a little sense in the head of key people (Miley included), it can’t hurt.

There is something a little sick about the hysteria about young girls becoming young women. My grandmother married when she was just four month older than Miss Cyrus is now. That was to a 19-year-old high school football hero, grandfather, with a good job as a miner in 1931. (First child only after four years of marriage.) The law has changed a little since then but their marriage would still be legal where they were married then and it was until death til they parted in this century.

Miley Cyrus has no need to grow up or be sophisticated in the public eye. She can make a wonderful living as a singer and comic actress until her twenties or so and will never have the need for people to think of her as a Vanity Fair kind of woman. But I do wonder what will happen if the hysteria surrounding her pictures dry up the job opportunities for the many models in Vanity Fair each year who are younger than Miley Cyrus and are just trying to make a living that will open the doors her dad opened for her.
