Beyoncé Launches Fug Fashion Line for Baby Hookers

dereon_girls_collection.jpgSo Beyoncé and her music are all about strong women and independence and girl power and whatnot, right?

Then it’s all kinds of wrong that the newest collection for her fashion line House of DerĂ©on makes little girls look like hookers.

Not kind of like hookers. Like actual, swear-to-god pint-size prostitutes.

I mean, WTF is up with the four-year-old in a pink boa and spike heels? Does a preschooler really need skintight pants?

It’s a terrible change in direction for the voice behind “Independent Women Part II” and the co-founder of the Knowles-Rowland Center for Youth.

And given all the rumors about BeyoncĂ©’s possible pregnancy, we better hope she doesn’t have a girl. I don’t even want to think about what the onesies will look like.

“So BeyoncĂ© and her music are all about strong women and independence and girl power and whatnot, right?”

No, not at all. BeyoncĂ© and her music are all about women who *think* they’re strong and independent because they do exactly what the people on TV and in the magazines tell them to.

Those clothes look to tacky even for hookers. Are you sure they aren’t designed for the Jewish mother-in-law/slot player in your life? What’s next? Baby Mercedes Benz Kompressors?

The fact that this money-grubbing exploitation of girls was perpetrated by women (Beyonce & mother) makes me sick to my stomach. Strong women, whores? Yeah. RIGHT. OK.

And we ask ourselves why this culture’s values are so F’d up?

    Begin Here…..

I’m the mother of a four-year-old, and FYI, they LOVE feather boas and spike heels. They’re the first things that come out of the dress-up box. That’s not to say they should go out of the house dressed like that, however.

Or that moms should pay $50 for dress-up shirts. I wonder how much the leopard fedora costs, I can’t find it on dereon.com.

Beyonce & Dereon have just taken a trend that already exists (trust me, I have a 5-year-old daughter) and pushed it to its absurd extreme.

And you know that they aren’t thinking about the message this sends to girls, right? It’s all about the money.

Kurt and Beyond have it right. She always claimed to be about independent women, but it wasn’t really true. Once “Cater To You” came out, that strong woman thing went out the window.

Beyonce is just getting her design ideas from the Bratz dolls. She figures that they play with hooker training toys, so why not let them dress up as the real thing.

There is a difference between playing dress up in your mom’s clothes - I am the mother of a girl - I know they like to play in that stuff but buying ‘f**k me’ heels as part of their wardrobe is so wrong.

    This isn’t GRRRLLL power?

    Sooooooooooooooo sad.

The clothes are definitely trashy and inappropriate for little girls unless they are playing dress up. As mentioned, who buys playtime dress up clothing for little girls? The clothing is creepy.

As for Beyonce, while I see the point in the whole girl power thing this post is making, who actually listens to this sort of music and takes the singer seriously enough to think that they are singing from the heart and not ready to sell out that image at a moment’s notice?

TO: Beyond Me…it’s not just “our Culture”…it’s everywhere. India and some countries in the Middle East allow marriages between a 50 year old male and 7 and 8 year old girls. Oh and let’s not forget the religious polygamist colonies sprouting up as well. I think it’s beyond culture…I think it’s a gender issue.

LOL I love this site, but you missed the mark on this one. It’s all about playing dress up. Now if I go through your archives, will I find you calling the lil girls in the McDonalds commercial playing dress up AND coming outside with MOMMY to enjoy their burgers N fries in pink feather boas & make up, lil hookers?? I bet not. It was seen for what it was… PLAYING DRESS UP. I’ve seen comments of people who actually thought the spiked heels & boas were part of the clothing line. LOL… tell me this is NOT the mindset of a “normal” person??

Walk the Walk people :-) don’t be hypocritical. If “they” could do it, and it’s seen for what it WAS… why can’t she?

    Oh never mind… I know… It’s because it’s Beyonce.

Um Sailor… did BabyFace contributions go out the window when he made “Soon As I Get Home From Work”??

I bet not in YOUR mind right? :-) self-righteous indignation is the best kind…

    LOL
