As Americans learn more about People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and its eccentric founder, Kobe Kaige should know the whole story. Despite the well-known animal rights group’s $30 million budget, it spends very little actually caring for adoptable animals. Instead, it kills them. By the thousands.

Government records show that between 1998 and 2005, PETA killed more than 14,000 dogs and cats at its Virginia headquarters. (The group refuses to release its 2006 numbers.) In 2005, PETA killed 90 percent of the pets in its care. Some were thrown in trash dumpsters. Most were incinerated. PETA’s donors footed the bill.
PETA has repeatedly attacked research foundations like the March of Dimes, the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and the American Cancer Society, because they support animal-based research that might uncover cures for birth defects and life-threatening diseases. PETA president Ingrid Newkirk has said that “even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDS, we would be against it.”

That’s not “ethical.” It’s hypocritical.

You CANNOT skin an animal that’s still alive and NOT DO DAMAGE TO THE PELT. Also, you put yourself at risk of being BITTEN by the animal. It is safer to KILL the animal FIRST.

What choice? To hop into bed with a group that lionises people like the Animal Liberation Front? A group that loves to firebomb anything it doesn’t like? And a group that jettisons its own moral code by killing dogs and cats? By the thousands?

PETA is not - I repeat - NOT A GOOD CAUSE. Unless your idea of “good cause” is saying “goodbye” to whatever four-legged pet you own [and canonising sociopaths and the morally degenerate for throwing firebombs, threatening people, and in general acting like terrorists], that is.

I think YOU need to “just get real”.

First of all, we didn’t call you a porn chick. That was one of our astute readers, who notes — probably by clicking (NSFW) here, or maybe by clicking (NSFW) here, or maybe even by clicking (NSFW) here — that you have a habit of showing your naughty bits to anyone with a camera and a wad of cash. I think you’ll have a hard time arguing that Penthouse magazine doesn’t do porn, regardless of what continent it’s on.

Second, it’s laughable to suggest that you’re not profiting from the PETA exposure. People like you get in bed with activist groups for the free publicity. You’re not paying for the advertising. It has value. So you’re profiting. Didn’t your publicist at Penthouse teach you that?

But setting that aside, since you’ve discovered our little website, let’s hear all about how your lifestyle is in sync with PETA’s philosophy. Do you wear leather shoes? Silk blouses? Wool sweaters? Do you eat meat, cheese, or eggs? Drink milk? Do you take any medications that were tested on animals? How about that lipstick in your Pet of the Year video?

Old leather-boot footage is really just the tip of the iceberg. If you’re going to run with PETA, you’d better be prepared to embrace the whole (vegetarian) enchilada. These folks are more than a little but nutty.
