Kirsten Drunkst Claims Rehab Stay Was for Depression

kirsten_dunst_postrehab.jpgEveryone’s favorite drunken troll Kirsten Dunst says she didn’t check into the Cirque Lodge in Utah for drinking, as widely reported. She claims the stay was to treat her depression:

She says “it was a good six months before I decided to go away.

“I was struggling, and I had the opportunity to go somewhere and take care of myself,” she continues. “I was fortunate to have the resources to do it. My friends and family thought it was a good idea, too. But I didn’t know where to go. My doctor recommended Cirque Lodge.”

Thing is? You can’t just go to rehab for any old reason — you have to be an addict to get in. Cirque Lodge’s website is clear as can be that they accept only patients who are dependent on drugs or alcohol. While I don’t doubt that Kiki is depressed, she couldn’t check herself in just for her mental-health issues, and it’s disingenuous to imply that.

Personally, I think she was pressured to counter those reports earlier this month about her staggering drunk out of a New York club. Cirque Lodge doesn’t need another public failure.

What I want to know is why these celebutards are all so depressed and addicted to whatever. If I got just one of their bloated paychecks, I’d gladly fade away into the sunset.

Anonymous, I agree with you. They don’t have to worry if they will have enough money to pay for the gas in their vehicles, or sweat things out until payday. Screw that. “Oh, I’m so sad all the time, blah blah blah” - try paying real bills and dealing with life in the real world. You couldn’t do it for a second. I feel no pity for these rich, overindulged, spoiled f***tards.

Depression is the disorder of the month for these people, just like exhaustion was the reason everyone was getting hospitalized a year ago. Just admit you’re a lush, Kirsten.

I was “depressed” on Saturday too! Yipee! Look at me! I’m depressed!

Hey, I am on holiday so some posts from me. Lol. Depression and addiction tend to go hand in hand. It’s sort of sad to me that some folks still find it easier to cop to depression than copping to a substance abuse disorder. Getting real and keeping it real is a major element of the recovery process for anyone, (celebrity or not) with a substance use or abuse disorder, so I hope all these folks we’ve seen going into treatment for these sort of problems are trying to get honest with themselves in the process and cease and desist from believing their b.s.!

  6. 6 She's a liar May 28th, 2008 at 6:05 pm

I love how Hollywood is a city where lies are typically accepted at face value, no matter how much they contradict reality. She’s not only a lush, but she didn’t learn anything from rehab. The primary tenant of rehab is to own up to what you’ve done before, and live an honest open life from this point forward. She’s just like lindsay lohan when she got out of rehab; immediately she started lying. And, the media just swallowed her stinking lies as truth without even bothering to check on them.

You don’t go to rehab for depression; you either seek out patient treatment or you get committed to a psych ward. Either she is lying about where she went, or she’s lying about being a drunk. You choose.

Depression’s the new black. The “Boohoo! I never had an adequate father figure” card is so last season.

I’d believe another spoiled, incompetent twit if the same tired card wasn’t pulled every time something negatively affected their “career”/reputation. Call me insensitive but I have a hard time believing that every one of these “women” who have been showered with possessions and wealth all their lives could possibly have a chemical imbalance that would make them depressed.

I think Kirsten Dunst, like just about every other starlet under the age of 30, wants sympathy or an excuse for her irresponsible/reckless/outright despicable behavior because no-one has paid attention to her recently.

So you don’t know anybody who’s depressed AND an alcoholic? Good for you. These comments are so shallow, money is not all about the money as Americans seem to think.

  9. 9 rc May 29th, 2008 at 1:13 pm

eh, while i agree depression is overdiagnosed among the rich and famous (like this slag) there is a bizarrely higher incidence among artistic types, and not just in hollywood. if you’re really depressed, there’s nothing out there that can make you happy. anyone who says they’d never be depressed if xyz has clearly never suffered from MDD.

I feel sorry for her. We all know that she was in due to a problem and yes, because of the problem-she was depressed on top of it. I see people on her calling her a liar, but imagine how you might feel if the whole world was pushing you to reveal what personal battles you might be facing. It’s awfully intrusive. And I totally agree with “well, that’s the job they chose. They’re in the public eye”, but some things should be kept private. She’s really not a liar…she chose to release one of her issues…but that is why it’s called “Alcoholics ANONYMOUS” and “Narcotics ANONYMOUS”. It’s supposed to be personal and private for anyone dealing with it. Let’s give people a break sometimes. It’s not like she was Lindsay or Britney-out there endangering EVERYONE’S lives when they were under the influence!

  11. 11 MsMichelle May 30th, 2008 at 1:54 am

PS: Below is from Cirque Lodge’s site and it CLEARLY states they treat mood disorders, so maybe people should take her words at face value and be happy she admitted anything. Medical information should be private, unless forced to reveal.

    Detox Services and Treatment Programs

If needed prior to admission, detox for drug addiction, alcohol abuse or other substance abuse issues, including cutting edge protocols for heroin detox, is offered with a separate local licensed drug detox facility. Upon arriving at Cirque Lodge, an assessment is completed and based upon the information received an individualized treatment program is developed. Special attention is given to provide the best drug treatment protocol for each resident, including an individualized drug treatment program and dietary considerations. Cirque Lodge also treats co-occurring disorders such as eating disorders or mood disorders. Rooms are assigned depending on each resident’s requirements as determined by the staff

    “Co-occurring disorders.”

    Meaning, occurring with addiction.

  13. 13 John May 30th, 2008 at 11:04 am

She was probably depressed because she could not get a loan for another bottle of booze or more drugs. So it was a Co-occurring disorder. After all what other reason do these overpaid underworked airheads have to be depressed about

To the anonymous poster on 5/28 biatching moaning and whining about celebs bloated paychecks …you can’t claim you would fade away into the sunset with one of their checks because you can’t ever have what you detest in others …it’s crazy how upside down our society is in the US …average joe’s complaining and judging others because they have more money then they do and if something isn’t right in a celebs life it’s open bashing season …is that how average joes get on in life? complacent hollow empty lives fixated on when celebs are down and out? …its so oxymoronic people shelling out money to see the celebs movies, and fanatical posters, books, and whatever other wares celebs promote to make money, and buying the latest magazine with madeup stories about these celebs sold by the media to keep the dumb sheep of America preoccupied with celebs lives …all the while complaining because they make so much money …ummm hello stop shelling out your hard earned cash on them and maybe you’ll have more money too and the media will find some real thought provoking topics to write about

  15. 15 Chronic Malanga May 30th, 2008 at 2:04 pm

You know why we bash these people and come down on them? It has nothing to do with shallow, and it has nothing to do with feeling somehow superior. There are a lot of celebrities that avoid the paps, don’t discuss their private lives, no matter how hard they are pushed, and actually refrain from whoring themselves out with negative publicity in order to remain relevant.

  16. 16 tylerd May 30th, 2008 at 3:36 pm

what is the reason they keep getting f*ked up? Because drug and alcohol problems are a disease - not a choice. not every hollywood star is an addict or alky, but the ones that are make public spectacles of themselves and use rehab as a get out of jail or trouble free card. the recovery rate for all people is low because kicking is HARD! I SHOULD KNOW I AM SOBER 7 YEARS AFTER A 30 YEAR RUN. there are plenty of sober stars who dont make it public. so dont judge hollywood by the people who are suffering. how many alkys or addix do you all know personally???

  17. 17 Johnna May 31st, 2008 at 8:35 pm

Hmmm…I can’t stand Kirsten Dunst. That being said, I don’t really think her rehab stint is anyone’s business, whether or not she’s a celebrity, so I don’t blame her for not wanting to spill all the gritty details.

Naah . . . I think the first time you cash one of those seven-figure checks from a movie studio and blow half of it partying, we own you. Heh heh.

Unless you want to live in Denver, or Cleveland, or Vancouver, or otherwise steer clear of the whole narcissistic Hollywood “scene.” I figure if the paparazzi can’t find you, we ought to assume you’re an actual professional and leave you alone.

    Seems fair to me.
