From the Associated Press today:
Pamela Anderson may have a need for speed, but her favorite charity has a need for funds.
That’s why the former “Baywatch” babe is selling her prized Dodge Viper and donating the proceeds to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals … The car will be among the offerings at Julien’s Auctions’ Summer Entertainment Sale of Hollywood memorabilia, to be held June 21 and 22 at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
Remember Pam Anderson’s tireless work for PETA, and all that blathering about how fur is murder? Remember her selective outrage about the use of animals in feature films and television? Remember her odd habit of taking her own kids to very PETA-unfriendly circuses?
Then maybe this won’t surprise you. The factory spec sheet for Pam’s 2000 Viper R/T includes these “standard features”:
- Luxury trim leather on gearknob
- Leather seat upholstery
- Leather covered steering wheel
Say it ain’t so, Pam! How could you? Are you a PETA-loving animal defender? Or just an attention-seeking publicity whore?
To be fair, I thought maybe Pammy had her ride custom-upholstered in vinyl, or canvas, or maybe jello. PETA claims people do that sort of thing nowadays. But despite her claim today that the group is “kind of my ethical advisors,” she went for the real thing.
Here’s a snapshot from the auction catalog, provided by Julien’s:

Three words: Luxurious. Leather. Interior.
I don’t know who the bigger hypocrite is here: Pammy for riding in dead-cow comfort since 2000, or PETA for accepting a leather-fueled donation they would probably body-slam as “blood money” from anyone else.
And notice what else the catalog says:
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this car are being donated by Pamela to PETA.
A portion? What portion? Maybe just the “portion” that didn’t expose the Baywatch has-been as an attention-seeker who’s never really been into saving animals. At least not the ones whose hide feels all soft and cushy as you max out 450 horsepower.

At the end of the day, most animal rights organizations only really care about one species: the Greenback.
Then again, we’re talking about an organization who claims they wouldn’t support animal testing ‘even if it cured aids’, while one of their senior execs is pounding down insulin that was tested on, and in the past, extracted from animals.
It’s just too easy to blast PETA. They don’t even try. I would almost feel bad about it if I didn’t hate them so much.
Maybe Pamela is just too dumb to know that leather comes from cows. I mean, really… This is a woman who was happily leaving her bank card in ATMs around the same time she was buying this car. Should we really be surprised at anything she does?
Besides the leather accents, how many poor dinosaurs had to die to put gas in the tank?
If you win the auction, she’ll throw in hepatitis c for no extra charge, a disease that infects only that dirty bipedal species I will not mention.
That’s a stupid car. All that dough and that’s the car she bought? She has others right? She probably did look hot in it though. Does peta know it’s named after an animal? Is that against their rules too?
Do this is just me or the people of PETA have no clue that leather is an animal byproduct?
AndrewGurn: Do you really think that she has truly has Hepatitis C? The way she consumes alcohol I would think that her liver would have cut itself out of her abdomen and made a run for it long time ago … if she really has Hepatitis C.
Another hypocrisy for Deceiver.com to ferret out and expose!
I’m afraid the Hep C is real. She got it from sharing a tattoo needle with Tommy
LeePetri Dish. All the more amazing that she’s in bed with the animal rights whack-jobs, since they oppose medical research that could, I don’t know …CURE the disease…
Ominvore: If she got Hepatitis C from Tommy Lee then why is she drinking copious amounts of alcohol that her liver can’t metabolize and why hasn’t Tommy Lee owned up to having the disease? I find it hard to believe that he could have been insured for his lame reality show and I seriously doubt that the university would have let him near the students if he did have Hepatitis C.
I believe that her Hepatitis C is as real as her tits.
Tommy knowingly gave Pamela Hep C but denies it still to this day that he even has it. She says his own doctor told him that Tommy has the disease and advised Tommy to tell Pam and he said he would. But he never did. But Pam still drinks and does drugs and spends all day and night at a club or with a new boy toy. She’s a pathetic hypocritical k*nt.
Everybody knows that you can’t get herpes out of leather once stained. Whoever buys that car should change the seats out asap before little bumpy fellows start popping up.
Of course Ms. Anderson and Mr. Lee have Hep C. Hollywood is a veritable cesspool of STDs. I have it on good authority that many pregnant starlets have scheduled c-sections not just to keep their netherparts in good repair, but because they have genital herpes and don’t want to pass it to their babies.
(All together now, 1-2-3) Eww.
Pastafarian: Does peta know it’s named after an animal? Let me ask you this…is chicken of the sea made from chicken?
Perhaps the thought is that some poor cow(s) died for the sake of the car seats and shifter. It would be more of a waste to now discard what has been done without getting some good out of it.
…is chicken of the sea made from chicken?
What am I? An ichthyologist?
(That’s a fish scientist ibezoo)
I know this is about PETA, the car and Pamela Anderson, but…
Someone in the comments section linked Hep C with STDs. H E L L O…Hep C is only transmittable through blood. It is not a STD.
Does she or Tommy have Hep C? What does it matter? I’ve had Hep C since probably the late 60s…did two rounds of treatment (read chemo) without missing a day of work and didn’t respond. I function just fine day to day except for a little extra fatigue. If they want to continue to drink, that’s their choice…I call it suicide.
So if you are going to bring Hep C into this discussion, learn the facts.
If I could afford to custom order my Harley (which comes with a Non-leather seat anyway, but I wanted a nicer one than stock) and my Lexus (substituted the Leather with Cloth and had it custom built at the factory), I can assure you Pam Anderson can afford to do so as well. Funny how you assume she’s got a stock car, when it’s widely publicized that it’s a customized car. Where’s your proof that the seats in her car are leather? Ever heard of Pleather? It’s something she is seen wearing quite frequently that people mistake for leather. Not saying that she’s perfect and I’m certainly not a fan of hers, but I do applaud her attempt to try to live a kinder and more considerate lifestyle, which is more than I can say for a lot of people I’ve seen posting here who can only seem to feel good about themselves by attacking others. Why all the hostility toward this woman? I doubt any of you can say she’s ever done anything that had a negative impact on their life. If you’re perfect and have no flaws, I guess you can slice and dice her up; otherwise, why don’t you take all the energy from your hostility and try to do something positive with your time, like it seems PA is at least trying to do.
Um, yeah ….
Read the auction catalog above. That obvious, brightly highlighted portion that says “leather interior”?
Yeah.
“If you’re perfect and have no flaws”
I have tried to stopped punching kittens, and that makes me better than everyone here.
Here you are criticizing her attempt to raise funds for PETA yet you obviously don’t know much about animal rights either. Jello contains gelatin, an animal product rendered from the hides and bones of animals. So outfitting the interior of her car with Jello would be no better than the leather it’s already outfitted with.
When you’re right, you’re right.
Why, oh why, hasn’t PETA come up with a stable vegan jell-o yet? My herbivorous brothers and sisters demand equal treatment!
this blog is so so sad
you are the biggest hypocrite ever
i bet you have something to do with that stupid organisation, that wants to paint peta black with campaigns like “peta kills animals” and exist thanks to donation from companies like KFC <- ridiculous
And guve one proof that she bought this car and not for exmp. got it from someone!!!
In English, please?
Really the flaw in this whole point of view is that you can’t categorically cast every PETA supporter with being 100% anti-leather. If you want to show Pam Anderson is a hypocrite you should find a place where she says she feels people should not buy leather.
Even still, who cares if she’s a hypocrite? She’s in the media spotlight and the laws of the universe have entitled her to a do-as-i-say-not-as-i-do attitude if she chooses one. It is not intellectually dishonest for an individual to find that they are fundamentally weak at doing what is right and at the same time try to use their notoriety to encourage others.
My point being that pointing to her hypocrisy is a lousy ad hominem attack which says nothing about PETAs radical stances. As a person on the sidelines, I’m forced to conclude you’re not interested in what’s right or wrong but you’re only interested in not questioning what you already assume is okay.
Let me guess, anyone with access to the internet and negative opinions toward something have no lives either, right? The only ones deifying these wealthy jerkoffs are people like you. If anything, we’re the ones treating them like human beings by judging them based upon their words and actions.
Oh, and here’s your link, which only took two seconds to find. Before you dawn your tinfoil hats and call it a “government” conspiracy, it’s from PETA directly stating Pam Anderson’s anti-leather.
http://www.peta.org/living/at-summer2000/leth.html
I have no idea what you’re talking about with a government conspiracy? I wasn’t deifying pam anderson, but the fact is media gives people like her a microphone whether you want to hear it or not. And from this, hypocrisy does not mean one is wrong about one’s spoken point of you. Why not refute the point of view directly?
For example, I try to buy American and tell other people to do the same. But when i need sneakers i often just buy whatever pair i like and its never made in America. Does this make me a hypocrite?
Plus this is a 2000 viper which would have been available 9 months or so before the page you referenced. Note also she’s not calling for an outright leather boycott in that link. Compare the language she uses to the KFC boycott propaganda. Pamela Anderson portrayed a viper driving television character on the show VIP in that year and her ownership of the car might have been a career related evil, much like my sneaker purchases.
