Self-styled environmentalist Justin Timberlake has purchased a golf course in Memphis to “save” it from developers:
He confesses he only “got into” the sport six years ago, when he was 20 — but the childhood trip to the Memphis, Tennessee, course inspired him to rescue it from being turned into apartments.
Timberlake tells talk show host Jay Leno, “My dad taught me to hit a golf ball on this course, when I was 12 years old. They were going to auction it off and turn it into a development, so we swooped in and got it.”
The singer is currently battling his mother’s plans to name the course after the famous family, adding, “My mom wants it to be called ‘Timberlake Trails’ or something like that.”
Just leaving behind his various not-so-green habits, does he realize that operating a golf course requires a lot of gasoline? As far as I know there aren’t any solar-powered lawnmowers to keep the grass so evenly trimmed, although there’s a million-dollar idea right there.

And water. Lots, and lots, and lots of water. What else is gonna keep that grass green? His sexiness?
If he’s honest about his Green mindset, he would turn the whole thing into a park and plant trees everywhere. I bet an old 5$ bill that he wouldn’t dare do it. Come on Justin! Turn back the course into a forest, I dare you!
Love these people. They do whatever they can to prevent others from living a good life.
JT probably does not realize - more likely bothered to find out - that golf courses are one of the least environmentally friendly uses of land out there.
“…there’s a million-dollar idea right there.”
YOINK!
As far as the water goes, you can check out what NPR has go say about that:

It’s not very nice to golf courses.
So, someone was going to turn the golf course into a plae where people could live. I would assume there was a market for those apartments. Now there won’t be any apartments. I guess the people who would’ve lived there, will have to find somewhere else to live. I guess the workers who would have been employed in turning the golf course to apartment buildings will have to find work elsewhere. I guess the maintenance staff of the proposed apartment building will have to find other jobs. But that’s all okay, all those people will have one more space to try and put a tiny white ball into a tiny hole eighteen times.
Don’t forget the tons of chemical fertilizer to keep all that grass green

I clicked on the solar powered lawn thingy posted by Corey. Seems like a fine idea. However I have a kinda big lawn that takes me an hour to mow. That thing runs for 20-30 minutes between 4-6 hour charges. So a one hour chore is turned into potentially a 2 day project to save the pint of gasoline my lawn mower uses. If I fill the gas tank it’ll last me three weeks. No thanks. I guess I just don’t care about the environment enough.
Solar powered lawnmower…you can spell that “g o a t”
And when the goat is finished, you can eat it. Take that peta.
Because acting like a rich, privileged white boy douche just isn’t enough for him anymore, he has to own land to prove it once and for all.
