Perez Hilton: Drama Major, Major Drama

perez_hilton_with_posh.jpgThe Los Angeles Times did a profile of Perez Hilton in today’s edition and I thought I would share some fun facts about nobody’s favorite blogger. Including:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in drama from New York University.

Along the path: Started his blog, then called PageSixSixSix, in 2004 with a post about Howard Stern. Within months, tabloid TV show “The Insider” dubbed it “Hollywood’s most-hated website.” This led to a huge boost in Web traffic.

Name change: After getting sued by the New York Post, which publishes gossip section Page Six, Hilton changed the blog’s name to PerezHilton.com. The name reflects his Cuban roots and “the wacky world of celebrities.” And what does pal Paris Hilton think? “She loves it.”

Most surreal moment: When Madonna made him a video in which she seductively asked, “Who do you love more: me or [Hilton's dog] Teddy?” Naturally, Hilton posted the clip — and his response — on his blog.

And it may come across as sour grapes, but I call this pure garbage:

“I think what I do is noble. I think my job title is entertainer. I shine the light on celebrities behaving badly, and I also shine the light on those that get it right. And those that get it right, I applaud.”

I would argue his brand of gossip is called favoritism and Hollywood politics, and if you want the real story, Deceiver.com is where it’s at, yo.

    Noble… NOBLE???

He has a… ahem, “collection” at Hot Topic.

    Mr. “Noble” just posted this:
“Two pretty girls can’t possibly work well together!”

How sexist! And he goes on and on about equality. *eye roll*

I actually read the entire article yesterday. He brags about having started his journalistic career at Star Magazine. Star Magazine?!? And, now he bashes them relentlessly about their false stories. That’s hypoctical chutzpah with a capital C.

    Madonna is still seductive?

Noble? Well, you can say that dreck is really diamonds, but it still remains dreck. IMNSHO. What really scares me is how that picture made me realize how much Posh looks like Wendy O. Williams….yech.

Sounds like someone’s just holding a grudge if you ask me…

  8. 8 Morgan Jun 16th, 2008 at 2:32 pm

I don’t really think it would be possible to hold a grudge against Perez.

He is plays 100% favortism ALL THE TIME. You never see anything bad about Paris - ever. (And we all know she’s done some smear-worthy things) Plus, heaven forbid one of his ‘cubano’ ‘brothers/sisters’ doesn’t embrace their heritage to its fullest, and he thinks of them to be horrible, disgusting people.

He has taken his gossip blog and turned it into a platform for gay rights, cuban-american awareness, etc. Not that I am against either one of these things, but I get tired of hearing about the ‘poor little gay man’ ..

Though I do still go to his website, I really only read the short articles. I can’t stand to be on there too long.

Another example of a douche bag.

Sorry for the confusion; I was talking about Perez. I can’t stand the guy, and he just seems immature and pissy it took him only years to become fairly known. He has the journalistic integrity of a monkey.

Favoritism? Oh yes I agree. I think it’s even worse that that though.

Yes, I was guilty of viewing Hilton’s coversge on the Britney drama, and found this very un-noble blogger repeatedly post the same picture and the same story over and over with perhaps one sentence full of opinion added to each thread. Just when you finished making a comment on a current thread, another one would pop up. This obviously made many people who visted the site to make numerous, duplicate comments, giving the impression that he had much more traffic than he really had. Thread after thread, accounted for what appeared to be even more traffic at that! Of course he made his numbers high, and with that, justified a hike in the $$$price$$$ of advertising.

    He is not very entertaining.

I don’t visit Perez Hilton anymore. I like Deceiver for the solid content, and the lack of spelling errors. Deceiver has a head on their shoulders, whereas Perez Hilton just has head!

Come to a site that shows how people really feel about PerezHilton Mario…..as for having to go back and look at what he prints, we all slow down at a car accident…is that what he has become? Just a gory accident that makes you late on your way to someplace better.

Opinions expressed in these comments are those of the commenters, and probably don't represent the views of your humble Deceiver bloggers. If your comment doesn't appear right away, please be patient. We "moderate" comments to sift out spam, obscenities, and harassment.

All (civil) opinions are welcome. And if you can't be civil, at least be entertaining!
