It’s been a while since we’ve reported on Amy Winehouse’s ongoing addiction struggle, but her dad Mitch spoke out yesterday about her health problems and it’s a pretty sorry state of affairs:
“The doctors have said that if she had continued the way she was going she could have ended up an invalid — she wouldn’t have been able to breathe. With smoking the crack cocaine and the cigarettes her lungs are all gunked up. There are nodules around the chest and dark marks. She’s got 70 per cent lung capacity. “
That is bad news for a girl her age – not to mention it’s pretty hard to sing if you can’t even fill your lungs.
Her dad also had a warning for her pal Pete Doherty, who pledged a few months ago to help Amy get off drugs:
Mitch has urged her drug dealers and addict friends such as rocker Pete Doherty – who has been spending time with the 24-year-old since his release from prison last month – to stay away from her.
“I’m saying to those drug dealers, and they know who they are, if they are supplying crack to Amy, then they’ve got to take responsibility. I don’t want her hanging out with her mates like Pete Doherty either,” he said.
I mean, no kidding. Talk about removing the plank from your own eye first.
How does a 24 year old get Emphysema? But then again, crack has chemicals like paint thinner and Drain-O in it. Might not be so good for you…just sayin’
1. Papa don’t preach. No one’s listening. Especially those who profit from Amy’s addiction.
2. Papa get a conservatorship. Then you can stop the drug dealers and dumbass friends by restricting Amy’s access to them. Call Britney’s dad — he knows the ropes.
3. Papa get real. Amy’s an addict who doesn’t want rehab. She only wants drugs and Blake.
I think the better question is “How does a 24 year old crack addict get to be a millionaire and a star?”
Maybe now Papa Mitch knows why BLAAAAAKE’s parents want them divorced seeing as jail has been doing him a world of good.
If that picture is any indication, the next anti-drug campaign should be:
“Don’t do drugs. You get really ugly.”
Dead in 6 months is my guess. Very, very sad.

The sad part is that she is actually a highly talented singer. Not my type of music, but she has a great voice. Shame she’s letting it go to waste.

Wait, I thought he just made a mistake. Did anybody else hear that or am I crazy. Actually, no don’t answer that last part. But really, I heard she just had earily warning signs that could lead to emphysema, and if she lays off the crack and smokes, she should be fine. Is that true or is she totally screwed? HAHHA I said crack.
Poor thing…..ABSOLUTELY LOVE her music. All of these young celebs are passing cause these f*cked up situations brought on by themselves…..i just don’t get it…..

I don’t know. You get to this point, and it would take a miracle to get her clean and keep her that way.
She is an enormous talent,too…puts those breathy voiced “singers” like Britney and Janet Jackson to shame. Who knows what she’s like as a person, she doesn’t even know anymore. All that ability and there’s still some pain she’s trying to dull.
