Bride-to-be Scarlett Johansson, who previously interviewed that monogamy is not natural, has modified her views slightly now that she’s engaged to actor Ryan Reynolds.
In the newest issue of Cosmopolitan, she tells the mag:
“I don’t think it’s a natural instinct for human beings. Monogamy can be hard work for some people. I don’t think it applies to everybody, and I don’t think a lot of people can do it.”
However, Johansson insists she is among those who can resist the temptation to cheat: “I believe in finding a soul mate. I’ve always been in monogamous relationships. I would never want to be in an open one. It’d be too awful.”
So basically her view is that everyone else is not as evolved as she is?
Could she be any more self-righteous?
I’ve never known who she was. I even just now went to IMDB to find out what movies she’s been in. Except for the Robot Chicken episodes I haven’t seen even one of the movies shes done.
Having said all of that I’d love to be monogamous with her. You know two or three times. Thats what monogamy means right?
People say what is convenient for them at the time they are saying it. True on all levels by all people; especially women!

Scarlett has never floated my boat. I saw her in Match Point, which was actually a really good Woody Allen movie, and she was just flat. Her acting in Lost in Translation was equally boring. Anna Faris was hysterical as the Cameron Diaz style ditsy actress but Scarlett barely registered. Can anyone name a successful movie that she has been the main attraction in? Nanny Diaries was a major failure and I think it is because she isn’t a good actress. Perhaps this is because she isn’t very bright and that translates through. Or, perhaps it is because she is narcissistic and, therefore, dull. Anyone who has seen her “music” video, would suspect she was delusional. Add it all together and I hope she disappears from the industry to write self help books for us lower mortals.
Holy Xenu! Tommy Girl needs to recruit her. Her baffling BS is nearly as good as his when it comes to being sanctimonious about how superior she is to the rest of us mere fallible humans.
Jenny- I I always found Anna Faris to be a quite under-rated commedianne. She plays the silly/ditzy role to a tee. She may be no Carol Burnett or Lucille Ball but she does some good stuff in her own right. I think she understands her limitations and capabilities and doesn’t try to do things she can’t pull off.

Anyways onto Miss ScarJo…If I rememember correctly, this is the lady who says she has an email friendship with Obama. Turns out, that “Friendship” was only one email and might have not even be written by Obama himself. Maybe ScarJo should concentrate more on acting and less on talking to the media. That way she can be known for more than looking pretty and being stupid.
She’s just another dumb actress with nothing to offer beyond her looks, which quite frankly, are only special in that she looks different enough to not be as interchangeable as so many starlets are. That said, her initial comments about monogamy were probably meant to add some sort of mystique to her persona, or to be “shocking”. Now that her BS is laid out for all to see, she’s had to backtrack, and she’s done it badly. A real woman would have just said, “I can change my mind,” or “He knows what he’s getting into,” when asked, and left it at that.

But now that I’ve read the original quote and then the other quote, I don’t see a reason for this post other than to put up a pic of Scarlett in that gorgeous red dress. But I’m not complaining. Good job Holly.
I’ll be honest and say that she doesn’t normally bother me, and ultimately I laud her for at least trying to be faithful, but I really don’t accept *cheating* as some kind of biological predisposition found in nature more than as an excuse.
Admittedly, I don’t know much about her and I don’t know if she ever cheated in a relationship, but it’s amazing how quickly one’s opinion can change to accomodate said circumstances. It’s always stricken me odd as how certain individuals constantly acknowledge evolution of the human species, but in the same breath ignore that we’ve evolved from primitive mankind as justification.
I find her less-than-average face to be hypocritical when compared to her awesome rack. Seriously, her face is busted. It’s her mouth I think.
I think everyone needs to chill… Shes 100% correct. Monogamy isnt’t natural for us. It’s more tradition than anything.. I have yet to read anything that leads me to believe she thinks she is * more evolved * than others. The concept of *cheating* is something WE made up, not nature. Monogamy is not the same thing as cheating… PLEASE read a book.

Really a plain girl except for those boobs. As to monogamy, it is not natural for humans or any animals, just a convention. I suppose the whole idea of love and marriage and monogamy is good for society and business, buying houses, raising kids, whatever, but men and women have to fight their natural instincts and urges to make it work.
Monogamy not natural for humans or any animals? Then why do I keep hearing about these animals that have mates for life? Penguins I think, some birds, don’t sea horses do that? Tortoises? I’m not sure which exactly but I know they’re out there. To justify lack of self control we compare ourselves to animals? Mercy.
I think that it’s all up to the individual whether they can handle monogamy or not. To say that one is meant to be or isn’t meant to be is a big stretch when you have so many people offering up so many personal experiences on the matter. We aren’t cave men out to populate the world any more, and at the same time, we are not as bound by religion as we were to remain with the same person forever so it’s not as scandalous unless one is hypocritical about it to divorce/cheat/etc…
OK Rocko, Some animals are monogamous. I always heard that about wolves, but extensive studies and DNA testing of family groups disproved that theory. Anyway, humans are animals. They have instincts and urges, just don’t depend on them for survival anymore. And we have free will. I’m not saying it’s okay to cheat. If you take those vows you should keep them. I just think it (monogamy) is not something that comes natural to us. But it can be done. Usually not by Hollywood types or anyone else these days, or so it seems, but it can be done.
Trying to justify cheating by saying monogamy is unnatural (they are two different concepts) is only a way to justisfy ones own whoring behavior. Be proud of who you are! If you don’t believe in commitments or vows stand up and proudly proclaim: I am whore hear me roar!
