Someone hacked into Miley Cyrus’s e-mail last fall and over the weekend he leaked the most scandalous dish on the teenage Christian singer to date.
Boy, must Disney be pissed.
The hacker TrainReq liberated a bunch of photos Miley reportedly took of herself for Nick Jonas, the singer in the ever-virginal Jonas Brothers. Let’s just say we need to wash his eyes out with soap.
On DigitalGangster.com, TrainReq brags about the rest of the dirt he snagged from her email:
“i have worse pictures than these, and those are prob getting sold … I will attempt to sell some other sh*t i have on her… but i do belive the shower pic is the most raunchiest pic i have of her. I love how freaked out America gets over the idea of teens having sex. REally, when you sexualize an age group so much, you have to expect them to act sexual. Yeah it’s true lots of teenage girls post skanky pictures of themselves, but to be honest, it’s more of the skankier type to do so. Even though media is blowing this out of proportion, she is an idol to kids, and a disney star. I’m not exactly sure showing off your body like that qualifies as teen star idol. It might be suitable for other titles, but not hers. She has an image to show unfortunately, and she ruins it.

Clair, this is not the normal actions of a 15 year old, and if this is normal, then I feel sorry for this generation because the lack of self respect is pretty disgusting. Seriously, I was no angel at 15 years old, but I can guarantee you that there are no pictures to prove it. As for what kids that age are getting up to, when I was that age (20 years ago) we could take pictures like that only with our parents letting us use the Polaroid (which would have to be carefully hidden after) - otherwise, we’d have to send them off to get developed (remember that? you had to wait for your pictures) and if someone at the drugstore saw them told our parents (I grew up in a small town), we could get *in trouble!!!* Does no one get in trouble any more? And if this and worse is on myspace, where are the parents?!?

When I was 15, a looong time ago, you could count on one hand the number of girls in school that were sexually active, or at least bragging that they were. They would have had to lift the family camera and then go 5 towns away to get the pictures developed, IF anyone would develop them. (Instamatic, anyone?) Even just a few years ago you would have had to take your camera in the shower, printed the pictures, then scanned them in, now every kid has a cell phone that takes pictures and has internet capability. Girls this age and younger apparently think this is what constitutes “flirting” and that when they send them to the guy they are “flirting” with, that no one else will ever see them. Stupid, but typical teenage hormone-driven behavior. Did I mention stupid that never goes away? Think about it kiddos.
And I agree, if a 15 year-old is having sex that may not be such a big deal, but if said 15 year-old makes her living off being wholesome and pure and has put herself in the position of being a role model and a cheerleader for Jesus, she should really, really think about these things, young and stupid or not. MC is young, but she shouldn’t be stupid after being in “the biz”. Yes, Miley Cyrus says one thing and does another… but I don’t think that her behavior (sans hypocrisy) in itself is something to condemn.
Why are teenage boys allowed (expected) to look at porn, but girls aren’t allowed to explore their own sexuality? When I was 15, I was doing the exact same thing. I wasn’t trying to tell anyone that I was a good little Jesus girl, but taking photos definitely played a part in the way that I have matured, sexually, just the same, I’m sure, that looking at porn shapes the way that many men develop sexually.
In a world where image matters more and more (tv, internet, glossy magazines), it is no suprise that photography has found its way into sexuality (not uniformly, not universally, but undeniably).
Perhaps the strongest indictment of Miley Cyrus isn’t that she says one thing and does another, but that she projects the image of innocence, propriety, and ‘good-girl’ness in order to make tons of money, while at the same time personally creating sexually charged imagery.
And, you know what, I’m not perfect, and damned if anyone is going to tell me that a 15 year old has mastered the art of cultivating and manipulating her own image. That’s what her PR department is for, and I’m sure they make wads of cash off of her image, as well.
In the end, it’s the people who bought into her so-called ‘perfect’ image in the first place that are the real suckers.

What I think that some of our younger posters are missing here is the fact that while it’s all well and good to explore one’s sexuality as a male, female, or whatever, keeping pictures of it tends to come back and bite you in the butt. That said, if one is under 18, and pictures are circulated that go beyond what Miley is doing (ie naked or doing something pornographic), it gets legally sticky. Explore away, but remember that one day, you might be running for office when that boy you left behind sells those pics to the highest bidder.
Furthermore, it’s a matter of self respect. Why put yourself on the level of an amateur porn slag?

Ok, call me crazy, but… I have pics like this one that my MOTHER took when I was around Miley’s age. We (my mother, sister and I) had gone to the beach, and after she took our suits to rinse out, we stood in the shower in our t-shirts to rinse the sand from our hair… She immortalized the moment, and since I am not famous, the pics never left our family photo album. Yeah, it seems to be suggestive and unappropriate for a 15 year old girl, but so do alot of things when taken out of context. As for the photoshopping… maybe. I hate to break the bubble of the teen Miley and Nick fans here, but here’s a dose of reality, particularly for Miley fan no matter what:
* Most kids with purity rings break that vow within a year of making it. I haven’t pulled this statistic out of the air. Look it up. So, because darling Nick may or may not be sincere. We don’t know that, and a purity ring proves nothing.
* Vanessa gets a break because since her pictures came out, we haven’t seen a steady stream of suggestive photos as we have with Miley.
The pictures of Miley, from the Vanity Fair ones to the “leaked” ones are not in and of themselves pornographic. I thought the controversial magazine shoot was actually tasteful, which is more than what can be said for the slut-fest personal pictures we keep seeing of this future Britney. They are inappropriate for a 15 year old girl that very adamantly proclaims her good Christian values. They are also inappropriate because:
a. She is under contract to a company that expects her to uphold a wholesome image. These pictures undermine that image.
b. They are trashy because they are pictures of a 15 year old girl attempting to be sexual.
c. They are not a one off incident.
If Miley cared anything about her career, and if her parents were doing their jobs as parents rather than sitting back and being meal tickets, these pictures would not even exist, and if they did, they wouldn’t be leaked every few months as they are now.
No one is saying that a girl cannot explore her sexuality. What I think most of us are saying is that having a photo album about that exploration is trashy and tacky (at any age, but worse at 15), and for a girl in her position, basically shitting where she sleeps. Without Disney, she would be nothing. She’s on her way to finding that out.
You will also see that in a few months, when the next big thing comes along and we don’t hear from Miley until she a. poses for Playboy, b. gets caught smoking crack while pregnant with her second brat, or c. winds up on a tragic VH-1 “where are they now” retrospective, you won’t even care.

I was a teenager four months ago, I’m not that old. I believe I’m rather in touch with you young’ns.
And I’ve been using the internet since I was twelve, and not to toot my own horn, had enough common sense than to pose provocatively on a website where ANYONE could see me. I also have a sister who is only 13 and knows better than that.
I understand that within the past five years that morals and responsibility have gone down the toilet, but I didn’t know integrity had downgraded this significantly. I was fifteen too, but that was when we rode horse drawn wagons, so what do I know? We didn’t wear dresses that came above the ankle, and holding hands was taboo!
Seriously, five years ago, very few classmates and none of my friends posted provocative pictures on their websites. The only people who did that were the slutty girls who no-one respected because everyone knew what their tits looked like anyway. Maybe I didn’t hang out with the right kids in high school.
There’s a difference between being young and being a skank. While I understand that society evolves over the years, your generation isn’t justification for pretending to fellate a cucumber in public and generally not having any class or discretion at all.

What does worry me intensely is the fact that no one seems to have commented on the fact someone’s PERSONAL e-mail has been hacked and her PERSONAL photos sprayed all over the internet. Fair enough if she’d been careless enough to leave a camera with these photos lying around in a public place or acted like a complete slag in the public eye, but this isn’t even close to being like that.
This is her own business and it disgusts me that anyone can disregard anyone else’s privacy that readily.
