Greenpeace anti-diesel-fuel protest checklist: Boat, banner, video camera, diesel fuel …

Offered without comment (other than the nifty Photoshop work above), from Australia’s Brisbane Times:

Mining company Queensland Energy Resources has described as “hypocritical” Greenpeace’s decision to send its ship MV Esperanza to tomorrow’s protest against its proposed oil shale mine in north Queensland.

The 72-metre ship will arrive off Airlie Beach tomorrow as Greenpeace ramps up its protest over the proposed mine near wetlands and national parks adjacent to the Great Barrier Reef.

But QER director of corporate affairs Simon Eldridge today said it was hypocritical that Greenpeace was powering its “Soviet-era ship” that relies on diesel, to come to an area to protest against the production of diesel.

“They will be emitting CO2 as they go, but somehow they don’t acknowledge the irony or hypocrisy of their actions,” Mr Eldridge said.

It’s only 160 feet long. Who’s to say they aren’t gonna row it over there? You know like the Vikings would. All those Greenpeace guys are always so huge, and studly.

Greenpeace uses magic fairy dust to eliminate their CO2 emissions and leave behind a beautiful rainbow in their wake.

Oh Pasta, Zorg, you paint such a beautiful picture. That makes everything okey-dokey now.

Huge studly guys and magic fairy dust and rainbows……..HEY! Wait a minute!

Nice to hear one of these “evil” fossil fuel guys call the “good” guy environmentalists on their bullsh**.

The only underlying theme that makes sense of all Greenie policies is hatred of people. Hatred of other people has been a Greenie theme from way back. In a report titled “The First Global Revolution” (1991, p. 104) published by the “Club of Rome”, a Greenie panic outfit, we find the following statement: “In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill…. All these dangers are caused by human intervention… The real enemy, then, is humanity itself.”

“No matter if the science is all phony, there are collateral environmental benefits…. climate change [provides] the greatest chance to bring about justice and equality in the world.”
    - Christine Stewart, Canadian Environment Minister

” We’ve got to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing — in terms of economic Socialism and environmental policy.”
    - Timothy Wirth, former U.S. Senator (D-Colorado)

Sam pretty much said it. These people, like PETA, are haters of humanity more than they are lovers of the environment/animals. Rather than work from facts, they prefer to thrive on the panic that their alarmist views create in those too lazy to do the research behind it.

That they are hypocrites as well is no shock. After all, their CO2 emissions are for a “good cause”, so that justifies their use of it as far as they are concerned. We all know it’s crap, but they are such self righteous pricks that it’s lost on them.

    maybe it’s biodiesel?

  8. 8 Aleric Jul 21st, 2008 at 12:30 pm

If it was Biodiesel than they would be touting it now as eco friendly.

“Climate change [provides] the greatest chance to bring about justice and equality in the world.” HUH? I don’t follow that at all. I’m all for cleaning up our act on a global scale, but that statement does’t really wash. Greenpeace has always seemed a little too militant for my taste. And then to use the word “peace” in their name.

  10. 10 Jannah Jul 21st, 2008 at 2:03 pm

Right, it provides the militant Greenies with the “chance to bring about justice” via the opportunity to fight aggressively using scare tactics to level the global playing field and wiping out all the humans that they don’t like. Just my not so humble opinion. :-p

Kind of off-topic, but every time I see an article like this it reminds me of a great scene from a crappy movie. At the beginning of Armageddon, Bruce Willis hitting golf balls off the oil rig at the Greenpeace boat, berating them about how much diesel that old clunker must eat. Pretty much says it all about these people doesn’t it?

give ‘em a break: the ship has been drastically modified from it’s “soviet era” diesel propulsion system. don’t just believe everything that a big company Goebbels type says..

It has taken many months to refit the ship in as environmentally friendly way as possible and these improvements include: the removal or safe containment of all asbestos; fitting a special fuel system to avoid spillage; newly fitted, more efficient, diesel electric propulsion; on board recycling of waste water, leaving only clean water pumped overboard; a waste based heating system; bilge water purifiers, 15 times more effective than current legislation demands; TBT-free hull paint; ammonia based refrigeration and air-conditioning rather than climate changing and ozone depleting Freon gas – the first Dutch registered vessel to be so fitted; and an environmentally and economically efficient propulsion system to reduce CO2 emissions.

We are for benzin /petrol/ fuel only.Because diesel engine is very very dirty for animal and people air passages!!! Diesel engine is very mistake 21century!

  14. 14 Civic Association from Europe,Prague City Feb 27th, 2009 at 7:12 am

Emissions from diesel engines are very dangerous to human health.Never to write about them, still only CO2 that we exhale, people.
    Carcinogenic
    NOx and particulates produced
    solid powder of
    only diesel engines.
    You must feel it yourself…
