Shia LaBeouf Update: Not at Fault, Despite Being Drunk as Shiz

Police announced today that actor Shia LaBeouf was not at fault in the car accident that put him in the hospital and then the clink. The other driver reportedly ran a red light, turning LaBeouf’s car over onto its roof.

Of course, he was still wasted, so that charge hasn’t been dropped.

He also has the cover story for Details magazine’s September issue. In the interview he completed weeks ago, he eerily had this to say about his Walgreens arrest last year:

And the glee with which the mainstream news media, itching for a YOUNG ACTOR FLAMES OUT headline, seized on it led to the end of one of his and his father’s longtime bonding rituals. “We would drink together and smoke together,” LaBeouf says, “and it’s just a bad deal. It’s not something that is conducive to being a role model—no iconic actors that I know of have problems like that. And I don’t know how to do it like a gentleman. I don’t know how to have one drink.”

Yeah, we know.

Intriguingly, being a role model often seems to be on LaBeouf’s agenda:

Back in June, at the premiere of “Surf’s Up,” LaBeouf said he avoided the kinds of troubles other young stars have fallen into by dedicating himself to his work.

“Work is important to me and I treat it important and it’s been good to me,” LaBeouf previously told Access [Hollywood]. “It’s like one of the best relationships I’ve had with anything. It’s been really good to my family so you gotta be good to it. Perception sometimes is more important than performance. If people perceive you as a good actor then they’ll wish for you to be a good actor and they’ll root for you when they watch you but if you come out and you’re going to clubs every night and people don’t root for you anymore.”

He’s not particularly good at it, but at least he’s aware that he’s supposed to behave himself.

Actually, many iconic actors have problems like that. And musicians. Some of the best as a matter of fact! Then again so do some non-iconic actors. I for one hope he gets his stuff together, I always liked him!

    Dammit!

Even Stevens was my favorite show when I was little and to this day, I see him as Louis Stevens, and it breaks my heart to imagine Louis Stevens causing trouble.

    Omg

i am so happy that this car accident wasn’t his fault. He is a big role model and hes realllyyyyy hot. i dont want anything to get in the way of what he loves “acting”.

cant wait till transformers two. go shia!!!!!!!!!

  4. 4 John Jul 30th, 2008 at 1:08 pm

If he hadn’t been pissed he might have seen all those cars jumping the lights, and his reactions might have been fast enough to brake before the real one hit him.

  5. 5 flirt Jul 30th, 2008 at 3:34 pm

Is he a good role model because he’s hot, or because he’s a drunk?

Because I just don’t see it.

  6. 6 SweetCandy Jul 30th, 2008 at 5:20 pm

I don’t really care if the crash wasn’t his fault. He still drove drunk.

  7. 7 C. Jul 30th, 2008 at 5:40 pm

he drove drunk and thats inexcusable, but apparently one of the only witnesses there told Shia to run and that he would pretend that Shia was never there, and Shia absolutely refused and said he up, he was going to take responsibility for it. That ranks him above Paris, Lindsay and Khloe in my book. Go to rehab, Shia.

Good reason to ever support someone, for being hot.

I rolled my eyes so much at that.

That’s like saying that maybe if a rape victim wasn’t so attractive, she wouldn’t have gotten raped. I have little compassion for drunk drivers. I have less compassion for sober drivers who recklessly put others lives at risk.

  10. 10 John Jul 31st, 2008 at 4:07 pm

Explain you analogy Kevin, because itis not just attractive girls who get raped. Ask some of the grannies who have been raped

Shia LeBeouf should have stayed on the Disney Channel acting silly because he is silly and I will never be able to take him seriously. He doesn’t think any other “iconic” actors have problems like his…well maybe he should first realize that he is NOT an iconic actor and after that open your eyes Shia it’s all around you! He is doing the same thing all the young actors do…a few pre-teens think he’s hot and all of a sudden he thinks he’s a sex symbol…get over yourself dude..you have a long way to go to even get close. Go back to Disney where you can be your silly self because icon status is not coming your way…you’re not even close to being that good of an actor. Either that or grow up and act like you should and don’t blame all your stupidity on being famous…poor me, I’m rich and I don’t know what to do boo hoo…be thankful you have any job acting, it must be slim pickings out there or you’re riding someone’s coat tails.

Okay fair enough, a car jumped a light and so its not his fault but still he was drink driving all the same. he should be a bit smarter and behave himself rather than thinking how to.
He’s always good in his films and in even stevens, and now he’s grown up a bit i must admit he’s pretty hot. but if he really if growing up he needs to act more responsible!

  16. 16 Anonymous Jan 3rd, 2009 at 2:39 pm

I don’t care if he was drunk he’s nice so cut the stupid crap about it being his fault!

  17. 17 samia Jan 7th, 2009 at 1:13 am

i don’t really like interfering in other’s lifes
but driving drunk is not a good idea, you could take somebody’s life.
and people you have to realize that the dude is not a little kid. by the time you reach twenty you should be responsible and know between right and wrong… for those of you who think he is hot then sorry beauty comes from the heart and not only looks. look at the deeds behind the beaty and the money

    if anybody on this site
    right now hasn’t
    done anything wrong
    ever in there life
    then they have the
    right to be criticizing
    him and putting him in
    the “bad boy” category of
    celeb’s. Otherwise be happy
that he didn’t get in more
    trouble than he’s already
    been in. People are
    so quick to judge and
point the finger but they fail
    to realize their own
    faults. Im just saying.

He is a really good actor, that is why he is still around. Talent and charisma, he’s got it big time. Start paying attention ya all

  20. 20 Beige Nov 13th, 2009 at 10:57 am

Let me guess: He’s ALMOST as good as Keanu, right? Whoa.

I just rolled my eyes so hard, I almost fell out of the chair.

    BEige, Love you lots!

  22. 22 Beige Nov 13th, 2009 at 2:06 pm

    Aw, you too, sugar.

I don’t care if he was drunk he’s nice so cut the stupid crap about it being his fault!

Until it’s YOUR loved one he hits one of these days, you gormless dipshit.
