Jenna Jameson And PETA — Which One Is The Hypocrite?

You know, maybe I’m approaching this all wrong. I was just about to write a post about how Jenna Jameson posed naked to promote PETA this week, and how she’s a total hypocrite because — well…

And so on. If you’re a regular reader, you’ve heard the litany. I was thinking, again, that this overexposed porn flake endorsing PETA would be like a kleptomaniac nymphomaniac serial killer doing infomercials for the Catholic priesthood. PETA’s whole schtick, after all, is defined by what you can’t do. It’s like being in Lent all the time.

But then I saw that on the same day PETA is promoting Jenna (the oyster-slurping, leather-wearing angler), it’s bitch-slapping Eliza Dushku for doing a bowhunting demonstration on the  Jimmy Kimmel show, and describing how she goes hunting with her boyfriend:

“When you’re in a relationship with somebody you have to, like, experience things that they do. A lot of people eat meat… and I eat what I kill.”

At which point PETA went absolutely nutters.

How is this any different from Jenna Jameson fishing with her boyfriend?

Oh yeah … Eliza hasn’t posed for a PETA poster. It’s like buying indulgences from the Pope, apparently. Makes it all okay.

Here’s the Eliza Dushku appearance on Kimmel. Scroll forward to [03:12] to hear what set off the PETA folks, and then skip to [6:00] to see Eliza shoot her crossbow compound bow.

There is just something inherently sexy about a woman who knows how to handle a deadly weapon. But you’re right, I sincerely doubt they’d be bitching out on her if she’s posed naked for them recently.

P.S. As a Catholic, I would like to officially endorse the idea of bringing back Papal Indulgences. As this article showcases - there are a lot of people out there that need kicked upside the head. And until I can convince the Vatican that ‘turning the other cheek’ referred to smacking the guy so hard his head spins around, I am gonna need absolution.

  2. 2 Shinriko Aug 8th, 2008 at 6:31 pm

    Thats not a crossbow.

  3. 3 The Oversneer Aug 8th, 2008 at 6:33 pm

You’re quite right. I’m informed by Mrs. Oversneer that it’s a “compound bow.” Shame on me.

“Jenna Jameson And PETA — Which One Is The Hypocrite?”

    Is the option mutally exclusive?
    If not, then both.
    If yes, the PETA.

In my corner of the world, we have this little piece of wisdom: “You attract who you are”.

I have nothing else to add.

Eliza Dushku is HOT! - Brought to you by the department of the obvious. Was Eliza wearing leather pants? She looks great. Did I mention she’s hot?

  7. 7 Phoenix Aug 8th, 2008 at 10:52 pm

So…is PETA’s official stance now that wearing leather, killing animals, and eating them is okay, but wearing clothes is not?

Seriously, if they’d just come out and say that their true belief is that (allegedly) hot women should not be allowed to wear clothes, they’d get a lot more money and members from at least one demographic. And at least they’d be honest.

I find the lead line of the PETA ad while using JJ as its spokeswoman beyond hypocritical given that women has had something or someone in darn near every orifice of her body.

  9. 9 Salana Aug 9th, 2008 at 1:33 am

Hey, I don’t mind the Jenna Jameson ad. Because it’s true, you DO need to spay/neuter your dogs and cats. I don’t find the ad over the top, I think the tagline is mildly amusing and appropriate to her reputation, whatever.

But the ragging on Eliza Dushku? That’s not cool with me. She’s so hot, even my lesbian guinea pig had a thing for her. And if porn stars can go fishing, hot vampire slayers can go hunting. Just as long as she doesn’t shoot David Boreanaz.

Just curious Deceivers, why are you so gosh darn obsessed with PETA?

They are looney at times–but why is it such a mission from God?

It seems to be one of those things that is universal in the Dumb Young White Guys Crowd( whom a number of your readers appear to be charter members of)–along with the feeling that somehow Big Oil is their very best friend.

Red Meat, Oil and Chicks–on yeah!!!!

Just wondering why it is such a priority.

They are both hypocrites. They make each other look as stupid, so Jenna and PETA pretty much deserve each other.

  13. 13 katie Aug 9th, 2008 at 7:39 am

i saw this ad on an advertisement on dlisted.com earlier and i thought ‘deceiver probably alreaaady has this’ haha this skank is just so ridiculous. have you heard she might be pregnant? eww on how many levels is that wrong?!

  14. 14 Lionel Libson Aug 9th, 2008 at 8:19 am

Still amazed that anyone takes PETA seriously. Didn’t they begin as a shaggy-dog joke demanding diapers for horses touring Central Park? Your article finds Jenna Jameson attack similar to or in contrast with infomercial for Catholic priests…given state of affairs in terms of priests as molester/predators, suggest different analogy.

  15. 15 The Oversneer Aug 9th, 2008 at 10:29 am

Just curious Deceivers, why are you so gosh darn obsessed with PETA?

They are looney at times–but why is it such a mission from God?

**SNARK ON** Well, since you asked — there’s a secret conspiracy among hunters, fishermen, zookeepers, circus fans, medical researchers, cattle ranchers, McDonald’s burger-flippers, pig farmers, high-fashion fur models, blind guys with seeing-eye dogs, the people who tan leather for major-league baseball gloves, and every person in North America and Europe who doesn’t want to go vegan to stop global warming.

I think that’s everybody. I lost the membership list. Anyway, everybody kicks in a dollar, and we’re in it for the money. PETA’s our natural enemy. **SNARK OFF**

Seriously, though, it turns out that when you’re looking for hypocrisy “writ large” in today’s society, PETA is very fertile ground. We didn’t plan it that way. But we decided on a theme for this blog because we thought it needed to be done and nobody was doing it. And we’re taking it wherever it leads us.

If you’d rather we focus our energies elsewhere, help us find jucier targets! We’ve got a “tips” e-mail address. Scroll up and look to the right.

Becky sounds like my kinda girl. Please tell me you’re into cheap whiskey, and smokey strip clubs too and I’ll crawl over broken glass to get to you. PETA now compares murder to animal slaughter

This from the National Post paper in Canada

PETA compares bus decapitation to animal slaughters
    Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008
Just a week after the gruesome decapitation death of a passenger on a Greyhound bus in rural Manitoba sent shock waves around the world, an animal-rights lobby is drawing comparisons between the victim’s death and the handling of meat animals in North American slaughterhouses

  21. 21 Phoenix Aug 9th, 2008 at 1:12 pm

    Becky-

Um…how exactly do you think you know the age, intelligence, race and gender of all Deceiver readers? I for one am certainly not a young dumb white guy, and I like the PETA articles. Also…why do you equate not liking PETA to liking big oil? Are you trying the “white male powerholder conservative bastard” stereotype? ‘Cause I don’t think that applies.

PETA is so over the top in your face about how they are right and everyone else is evil, so it’s important to point out their hypocrisy. It’s so blatant and they’re so moralistic about it. Is there a reason you don’t want to read about PETA when they’re being hypocritical? Should there be a cap-off- if someone or some group is too hypocritical we should ignore it, lest people be accused of focusing on them too much?

If you’re tired of reading about PETA hypocrisy, ignore those posts. Or try to get PETA to change. Me, I like to know what they’re up to.

  22. 22 Discordia Aug 9th, 2008 at 8:57 pm

    Dear Becky,

Some of us posters at Deceiver.com are on a mission to totally destroy PETA.

PETA is a group of lying hypocrites who destroy people’s property and try to kill people with their sanctimonious drivel about animal testing while reaping the benefits of such testing. PETA targets companies that use animal testing without acknowledging that the government (FDA and FTC) require testing on animals before certain products can be sold in the U.S.

  23. 23 Christina X Aug 10th, 2008 at 1:26 am

@ Becky: I very much loathe the conservative white heterosexual men persistently complaining about being oppressed that you speak of. Speaking from experience? Big dumb guy types f*cking suck. However, I dislike crazy leftist conspiracy nuts who are completely out of touch with reality.

I’m a woman, and I have nothing to prove on here, and I agree with most of what has been said by the alleged “big dumb guys” on here.

I think it’s time that the lefties shilling for PETA who blame conservative white men for patronizing women, but approve of getting a woman to take her clothes off to bring attention to their corrupted statements, get called out on their hypocrisy. I’m a huge feminist, but I don’t think it’s fair that members of this site are unfairly slapped with the label of being sexist because they agree with more socially conservative values.

  24. 24 FangFang Aug 10th, 2008 at 1:37 am

Hey — there are plenty of liberals who loathe the whole animal rights movement. I’m one of them. It’s hard enough getting people to pay attention to the human beings who need help in this world without some retards banging the drum for some oppressed lab rat. You know what I mean? Let’s start with making sure kids have good schools and three meals a day and the whole Darfur thing is licked … and while we’re at it, I’m not so sure we haven’t mucked up the whole race relations thing. Once our own species sorts itself out, then we can worry about the other few billion on the planet. Until then, it’s just a distraction that drains resources away from problems that are actually worth solving with the political capital that’s avavilable.

  26. 26 FaithLehane. Aug 10th, 2008 at 9:49 am

    @ John–

PETA has already compared butchering to the Holocaust. Comparing animal slaughter to the bus murder is nothing out of the ordinary for them.

  27. 27 RockitQueen Aug 10th, 2008 at 2:43 pm

*raises hand* Another liberal who loathes PETA here.

There is an excellent article in a recent issue of Skeptical Inquirer magazine on animal rights kooks and the damage they do to important scientific research. Some researchers have even had to abandon research for their safety of their family and neighbors because the activists were setting their cars on fire, harrasing their neighbors and even accosting their young children at school. One idiotic ALF member set out to put a pipe bomb on the porch of a researcher, but got the wrong house and left it on the doorstep of the scientist’s (presumably sweet and cute) elderly neighbor. Luckily, it didn’t detonate. You may read the article here:

Speaking of hypocrites, how does setting luxury homes in the Seattle area on fire supposed to help the environment? Morons.

  28. 28 Sam888 Aug 10th, 2008 at 2:58 pm

Eliza is so hot she makes me wish I was a lesbian. And her too. Well you know what I mean. Now what’s this about PETA?

  29. 29 Zorg the Defender Aug 10th, 2008 at 6:20 pm

    I agree with Becky…ON YEAH!

  30. 30 katie Aug 10th, 2008 at 10:17 pm

hmmm i wonder when this lovely shot of her was taken? she has a big tattoo across both her shoulders now and she’s had it for a few months. i saw her on LA ink a few months ago getting it. sorry if this is off topic but i juuust thought of that..

  31. 31 The Oversneer Aug 10th, 2008 at 10:49 pm

Very interesting … I don’t watch that show, but BuzzFocus has an episode archive. Apparently, Jenna’s tattoo dates back to at least October of 2007.

So PETA is using 9- or 10-month-old photography of a celebrity that they have to know is not living according to their lifestyle. Maybe she was for a week or two, back when they shot these photos, but that was — in Hollywood terms — a lifetime ago.

Thanks, katie. WE HAVE A WINNER. The bigger hypocrite is PETA.

Jenna may actually be a victim here, if that’s somehow possible. I think we may need a follow-up post on this one.

  32. 32 katie Aug 10th, 2008 at 11:23 pm

yeah sorry for being off topic but i was just wondering, glad you found something! and i remembered she had that big tattoo. it was over a few months ago, sorry i just couldn’t remember when haha here are some pictures of it, i googled it and nothing came up! http://img.perezhilton.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/wenn1737988__oPt.jpg and http://perezhilton.com/2007-09-04-thats-some-serious-ink

the last link was posted in september 2007 so yep she’s had it for a while!

  33. 33 Christina X Aug 11th, 2008 at 1:21 am

I didn’t mean that ALL liberals supported PETA, just so you all know.

What I mean is that PETA is a pretty liberal organization, so when its most radically liberal members point the finger at conservative men for being sexist, they’re hypocrites because PETA is sexist.

  34. 34 Hi Heels Lo Life Aug 11th, 2008 at 3:29 pm

    To RockitQueen: What you said!
Terrorizing researchers and their families, destroying research and the effects of it, and supporting people who burn up houses? If these people didn’t claim a political agenda, it would be easier for the public and media to recognize them for the destructive, sociopathic vandals they are. I was connected to Washington State University in the early ’90s, and ALF broke in to veterinary research labs at that time. Sure, they aren’t technically PETA, but close enough; some of the people affected by the “raid” frequently said “PETA by day, ALF by night” the links between the two are known. ALF destroyed the careful and valuable notes and papers of a lifelong researcher by breaking into his office and dousing the materials in hydrochloric acid, and also let out test animals. I don’t remember the exact details, but I seem to recall that one of them got hit in traffic (fatally), and the others, because they weren’t released into their natural environments and just milled about the campus area, were soon recaptured. So much for the touted benefits of “freedom.”
While I’m not wild about animal testing, if it is done for medical reasons, and also benefits animals as well as humans - and much of it does in fact benefit animals initially - it’s ridiculous for groups that claim to be pro-animal to be against such a thing. And don’t even get me started on how many of them benefit themselves from medical animal testing - isn’t Ingrid Newkirk diabetic? I’d like some comment from her on the fact that diabetes was treated first due to research on dogs, and that the insulin she likely takes is either bovine or porcine derived, and these are the reasons she is alive today. I won’t get that comment of course, but that won’t keep me from continuing to ask the question.

  35. 35 The Oversneer Aug 11th, 2008 at 3:32 pm

I don’t think it was Ingrid Newkirk, but one of her vice-presidents. Penn & Teller had it on the “Bullsh*t” episode.

  36. 36 Phoenix Aug 11th, 2008 at 3:53 pm

Yep Oversneer, it was her number two gal who treats her diabetes with animal derived isulin, and they also had the comment that Hi Heels wanted: “I don’t consider myself a hypocrite, I need my life to fight for the rights of animals.”

So..you got the comment, but I doubt it made it any better…

  37. 37 Hi Heels Lo Life Aug 11th, 2008 at 7:54 pm

Phoenix: “So..you got the comment, but I doubt it made it any better…”
Yes and no. Yes because they did deign to answer it, and no because their logic is the usual specious bullsh*t. It just proves that when you apply these people’s standards, ones which they are very quick to apply to others, to themselves then they tell you they’re special and exempt. What they are is talking out of their arses, not that that’s anything new. They make me want to walk down Park Avenue in a full-length farmed sable coat, eating meat and walking a baby seal on a leash, just for spite.

  38. 38 Mandy C. Aug 11th, 2008 at 11:40 pm

I think it’s 100% true, what they said in the video. ;) If anyone is comfortable eating meat, they don’t have a right to be horrified at the idea of it having to be killed to get there.

It’s one thing for those who abhor the practice in general, but that comment should have held true for a lot of people in that audience.

Impressed with Eliza, not only for being a pretty good shot from an athletic perspective, but also for not being afraid to talk about it in public.

  39. 39 Maria C Sep 22nd, 2008 at 3:16 pm

This is my first time at this website - hopped over from DListed. I love this site. And I had to say the first thing I noticed about Jenna’s picture is that they photoshopped her nasty ass tattoo off of her back. You know, the one that says “I was born to do this”. Because you know she is just SO talented that she can actually HAVE SEX!

Oh, and she and PETA are both hypocrites.

Opinions expressed in these comments are those of the commenters, and probably don't represent the views of your humble Deceiver bloggers. If your comment doesn't appear right away, please be patient. We "moderate" comments to sift out spam, obscenities, and harassment.
