Wow, the John Edwards scandal went from 0 to 60 in only three weeks. From the just-posted ABC News story:
Edwards Admits Sexual Affair; Lied as Presidential Candidate
John Edwards repeatedly lied during his Presidential campaign about an extramarital affair with a novice filmmaker, the former Senator admitted to ABC News today.
In an interview for broadcast tonight on Nightline, Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff he did have an affair with 42-year old Rielle Hunter, but said that he did not love her.
Edwards also denied he was the father of Hunter’s baby girl, Frances Quinn, although the one-time Democratic Presidential candidate said he has not taken a paternity test.
He’s claiming he can’t possibly be the daddy because he broke it off with her before late May/early June 2007, when the baby must have been conceived. He also denies having anything to do with the lavish lifestyle Rielle Hunter and Andrew Young have enjoyed for the last year or so, with no visible means of support. Apparently we’re supposed to take Edwards’ word for it. But hey, why not? Just look at his track record.
P.S. Courtesy of the Daily Kos: 7/22 Truthers!
P.P.S. The Los Angeles Times, the largest “news-paper” in the city where this incident happened, keeps rockin’.
I’m not going to bother labeling the rest of these postscripts individually, so just keep clicking Refresh on this and I’ll add them as soon as I can:
- Suddenly the Google News search I’ve been using for the last three weeks is blowin’ up!
- Oh, hello, New York Times. Nope, sorry, we didn’t save you a seat.
- Byron York: “If it wasn’t news because Edwards is finished on the national political stage, why would it be news now?”
- “I apologize, gossip blogs, for not believing you.” You are forgiven, my child.
- In the comments, Deceiver supercommenter Kris has some more links that seem worth checking out. Good question: Where was Edwards in late May and early June of 2007?
- Newsweek’s headline: “The Story Is Out.” Can’t wait for their breaking news on the moon landing. Hey, didja hear about that Hindenberg deal?
- With a headline like “NBC Confirms: Edwards Admits to Affair,” you’d think NBC would specify some sort of independent confirmation within the body of the story. But no, it sounds like they just read the ABC report like the rest of us. Well, thanks for “confirming” it, NBC!
- My bad, NBC. In the next-to-last paragraph of the preceding link, there’s this (emphasis mine):
“Edwards said he went to the Beverly Hilton, where the National Enquirer claims to have photographed him, to meet not with Hunter, but Bob McGovern, a friend of Hunter’s, the source said, adding that this was part of Edwards’ effort to keep the affair secret.”
Okay, that’s new information, I think. (Or at least a new claim.) So now the question is: Why was John Edwards conducting a secret meeting with a psychic? (Hat tip: Hot Air, who’s also struggling mightily to keep up with the flood of people suddenly talking about what we’ve known for weeks)
- Let the spin begin. From Edwards’ friends, at least. Also from the same Politico story:
“ABC News chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross said the Enquirer’s reporting was ‘95 to 96 percent’ accurate.”
What, Edwards’ sleeves weren’t actually rolled up?
- From Edwards’ official statement (sorry again, NBC):
“With my family, I took responsibility for my actions in 2006 and today I take full responsibility publicly. But that misconduct took place for a short period in 2006. It ended then. I am and have been willing to take any test necessary to establish the fact that I am not the father of any baby, and I am truly hopeful that a test will be done so this fact can be definitively established.”
If that’s the case, why did he wait until now? Is that what the whole “I earned forgiveness from my family already, you vultures” spin is all about? Well, if and when they do the test, I hope they make sure he doesn’t try to take Andrew Young in with him.
- Hot Air also points out the self-worshipping self-pity in Edwards’ statement:
“In the course of several campaigns, I started to believe that I was special and became increasingly egocentric and narcissistic. If you want to beat me up — feel free. You cannot beat me up more than I have already beaten up myself.”
I’m glad somebody’s finally putting the blame where it belongs: on us. Boy, it takes a special kind of narcissist to be narcissistic while pointing out his own narcissism!
- Jossip has more on Rielle Hunter’s Being Is Free site, which I might have mentioned once or twice on this blog. (If you want to read Being Is Free for yourself, drop me a line.) As for their question: “You have to wonder what drew together Edwards, with his proletarian work ethic, and Hunter, with her New Age bourgeoisisms.” Well, Edwards has been known to channel the dead.
- Ugh. Four hours in, and the media are already circling their wagons. Here’s one excuse for their woeful tardiness on this story, from Douglass K. Daniel at the Associated Press. After mentioning that Enquirer readers took the story seriously:
“So did many of those who live in the blogosphere, where the Enquirer story was taken as fact in spite of its anonymous sources. Where, they asked, were the reports on CNN, in The New York Times, on the news wire of The Associated Press? The AP had a fair number of inquiries by phone and e-mail as to when it would report the Edwards affair.”
Okay, three things: 1) On this blog, at least, the story was not “taken as fact,” but as a very, very interesting account with a whole lot of details that other reporters could have and should have verified, which could not possibly have taken three weeks to do; 2) We then tried to verify those facts for ourselves; and 3) The Enquirer’s sources for their 7/22 story were not anonymous. They were the reporters who signed their names to it.
- Greg Pollowitz at NRO’s Media Blog has a very good question: If Edwards told his family about the affair in 2006, why was Rielle Hunter quoted in the 12/25/06 edition of Newsweek about those campaign videos he hired her to do? I can just see Edwards’ list of 2007 New Year’s resolutions: “1. Lose 5 pounds. 2. Try to read more (and not just crime novels!). 3. Fire the woman I told my family I was having an affair with…”
- Elizabeth’s statement, posted at — where else? — the Daily Kos. She backs up Edwards’ claim that he told her about the affair in 2006. Which still doesn’t explain why Hunter was still part of the campaign throughout that entire year, or why Edwards was caught leaving her hotel room at 2:40 in the morning at least a year and a half after he claims it was over. Elizabeth also mentions “a recent string of hurtful and absurd lies in a tabloid publication,” but doesn’t elaborate on what those lies might be, or why. Guess we’re not supposed to ask, out of respect for her illness. (Stranahan isn’t buying it either.)
- We need to start thinking about the real victim: MSNBC’s David Shuster!

- John Edwards Affair Hush Money Laundered Through YouTube?
- Former Edwards campaign fundraiser Fred Baron claims he paid for Rielle and Andrew’s living expenses… because he’s a nice guy. His statement:
“I decided independently to help two friends and former colleagues rebuild their lives when harassment by supermarket tabloids made it impossible for them to conduct a normal life. John Edwards was not aware that assistance was provided to anyone involved in this matter. I did this of my own volition and without the knowledge, instruction, or suggestion of John Edwards or anyone else. The assistance was offered and accepted without condition. This is now and shall always remain a private matter between these individuals and me.”
- The Associated Press has a timeline of events. Boy, for a bunch of people who didn’t think this was a story, they sure were ready to go with this stuff in a hurry, huh?
- According to McClatchy, Being Is Free was created on Dec. 23, 2004. Don’t bother trying to go there, because you can’t. But here’s what the home page looked like:

- “I think this President has shown a remarkable disrespect for his office, for the moral dimensions of leadership, for his friends, for his wife, for his precious daughter. It is breathtaking to me the level to which that disrespect has risen.” — Senator John Edwards’ statement on Bill Clinton’s impeachment, 2/12/99 (Via Matt Welch at Reason Magazine)
- The Enquirer puts the boot in.
- Robert Scoble has some pictures of Rielle on the campaign trail, making the 4 short web videos for which she was paid over $100,000.
- Ken Layne: “John Edwards is a sleazebag who should be wrapped in hot trash and buried alive in his monstrous mansion.” He also mocks how the news is now trying “to make the Edwards scandal sound like something they just learned and something that the audience already knew about” simultaneously.
- I’m goin’ to bed…

Ha ha…yes, you DID tell me so. I’ve been telling people about your site for nearly a year and ESPECIALLY when this story broke. I live in Edwards’ “real” hometown of Raleigh and folks just don’t want to hear that such a “fine, upstanding citizen” could be capable of being a typical sleeze in a suit! While I’m sad for his family and the embarrassment they’ll endure from this, I thank you guys for staying on top of this story (and countless others - PETA hypocrites anyone?) when so many other outlets refused to even entertain the notion that it might be true. (I’m also extremely glad Obama didn’t choose him as a running mate candidate!)
Keep on keeping on, Deceiver! Investigative reporting at its finest and snarkiest - LOVE it!
He denied he’s the father? There’s this new thing out now called DNA. Maybe he’s heard of it? Is he gonna make us call Maury Povich?
Maury would find out who dat baby’s daddy is!
If I point out that the timing of ABC News’s release coincided with the end of the broadcasting week for a certain conservative radio talk superstar, and suggested that just maybe Brian Ross sat on the story until 3pm on a Friday so that this talk show host couldn’t make an even bigger deal about it, would you guys want to fit me for a tinfoil hat?
I knew Elizabeth has known for a long time, but I can’t believe John is saying she knew since 2006, because, in that case, she committed a degree of fraud herself- she campaigned for him and allowed supporters to contribute money, all in hopes of becoming the next President. She allowed for the possibility that John would indeed get the nomination and she knew that should that have happened, that the Rielle info could have surfaced at a time before the general election. She knows that could have in effect handed the Republicans the Presidency. I have lost respect for her.
See my comment from Deceiver’s “The John Edwards Anti-Scandal Continues to Not Continue” from 8/6/08:
“I wonder if by June of 2008 when Elizabeth Edwards was a speaker at the “Personal Democracy Forum” she had any inkling of John’s infidelity etc when she has the following exchange with the executive producer of the forum, Mr. Rasiej:
(See link: http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/23/the-elizabeth-edwards-show/)
“…despite the wonders of technology, the connection broke up after about 25 minutes, so Mr. Rasiej hung up and called Mrs. Edwards back, a process that was visible on the screen to the audience. He asked whether YouTube might make politicians more aware of not exaggerating the truth because they could be so easily exposed.
(Elizabeth replies):
“After Bill Clinton, we still had Eliot Spitzer,” Mrs. Edwards said as the audience laughed. Politicians are not “easily trained,” she said, adding that perhaps exaggerating the truth or their role in an event “is just something ingrained in their personalities.” She said she is not as optimistic as she would like to be that they will change, “given the experience we’ve seen in recent years.”
Was Elizabeth “not as optimistic” as she would like to be that politicians will cease philandering because she knew some things all of us are only now realizing? Or, was she completely, blissfully ignorant at that point? I tend to believe the former.”
See also my comment from Deceiver’s “John Edwards is a Gemini, If That Helps” from 8/1/08:
“I was reading an interview that Salon conducted with Elizabeth Edwards dated 7/17/07 and found some of Elizabeth’s comments interesting, especially in regards to the question of if and when she confronted her husband on the Rielle issue. During the interview, the interviewer asks Elizabeth the following question:
“Speaking of Senator Clinton, your husband is getting rapped for maybe collaborating with her to close some of the debates to the full group of Democratic candidates … ”
and Elizabeth replies:
“Well, John answered that, and I posted on MyDD [July 13]. ” (Note: here is the link the article dated 7/13/07 which Elizabeth took issue with on the MyDD website and her response:
http://www.mydd.com/story/2007/7/13/215314/314 )
the interviewer then comments:
“You blogged on it on MyDD? That’s funny. You’re famous for that, actually — people always said you were a Daily Kos diarist under another name. ”
and Elizabeth replies:
“I wasn’t. But I have blogged using other screen names before. Before the Whole Foods guy got in trouble [the Wall Street Journal revealed last week that CEO John Mackey used pseudonyms to deride competitors online] I decided that that wasn’t such a good idea.”
Many articles about Elizabeth have emphasized that she is constantly monitoring any Internet news related to her husband, and clearly she was aware of any negative buzz he was receiving, even on sites such as MyDD, so I can’t imagine that she didn’t have some questions for John once Rielle posted her statements on MyDD later on in 2007.”
THANK YOU, Simon for all of your reporting. This whole thing was not just a bunch of bloggers with diahh-Rielle of the touch-typing fingertips. This Edwards story was indeed a story and indeed important, for all the reasons you’ve mentioned and all the reasons others have mentioned that you’ve so diligently archived and linked to. Again, thank you!
Pastafarian, I would love to see Rielle’s ‘he the daddy’ dance on Maury.
What’s this “I had an affair with her but didn’t love her” crap? What a gentleman.
Talk radio superstar? You mean Art Bell? Then yes.
Three Cheers for Simon Scowl!
Thanks for your dogged pursuit of the truth.
And of course to the National Enquirer, who’s credibility went up 5,000% in the last ten minutes.
He is still claiming that Andrew Young is the father though and if that is true, what is with this Rielle? Is she the campaign bike-everyone’s had a ride? Well done Deceiver!! Glad you stayed on top of this.
P.S. I just love the whole “the kid isn’t mine” schpiel when he hasn’t even submitted to a paternity test! Oh, John John, you’re so gangsta!
Yay!!!!! Deceiver.com totally rules. With some help from The National Enquirer.
kris - interesting reading about Elizabeth, she sounds net savvy enough to figure out how to scrub the internet of this story….hmm
So the kid isn’t his? So he is saying he f*&#ed her and then passed her on to his assistant who then gets her pregnant? Wow
And then the question is if it ain’t your kid and the affair is over, why are you sneaking into a hotel that your ex-mistress, with your assistants bastard kid (that sounds harsh…don’t intend it to be), are at for a meeting your wife doesn’t know about?
And of course we should believe him because he is the beacon of morality and truth!
Edwards lied, baby cried!
If he is supporting this kidlet, the grifter baby mama, and this Andrew Young character without confirming paternity, he’s the biggest effing fool on the planet. And if he’s not the father, why all of the hush-hush and running from Enquirer reporters to see his allegedly-former mistress and her child? Why are people in his camp supporting his allegedly-former mistress and her baby?
I have a feeling more confessions are due from The Breck Girl.
I would be surprised if anyone actually thought he was NOT lying before. He had Guilty written all over his face. I do feel very sad for his wife who is fighting cancer right now. Shame on him!
So it seems Edwards is denying that he was seeing Rielle at the time that her child was conceived. Well, just for fun I guess we can investigate what else he was doing around the time of May/early June of 2007 (besides receiving that Father of the Year award). So far I’m gleaning lost of info from this blog called “ESeems Edwards spent a certain amount of time in and around NYC at the end of May. I found this blog called “Edwards News Group” at http://eenr.blogspot.com/
In particular, check out:
http://eenr.blogspot.com/2007_05_20_archive.html
Hmmm…so far I’m reading that Edwards was in Summit County NJ on May 22nd, 2007 to tour a stem cell research facility with New Jersey’s governor Codey. (Summity County isn’t too far from South Orange NJ where Mimi lives and regardless of whether Rielle was living with her or not, we do know that the Enquirer said she was in fact living “in the New Jersey area” at that time).
From that same website I’ve also gleaned that Edwards goes on the Today Show on May 23rd. Oh, the youtube of this and the hypocrisy is quite astonishing; especially starting at around the 4 minute mark see link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goe8K7i6oyA
In that clip Edwards himself is basically answering the question of why this whole mess IS a story!
Later on on May 23rd Edwards delivers a speech to the Council on Foreign Relations (in NYC). In that speech he mentions Elizabeth and her father alot (heh). Anyways, it seems that Elizabeth was attending a “Wisconsin Women in Government” on May 24th. I’m not sure if she was with John in NJ or NYC; certainly seems like he could’ve squeezed in some Rielle time around this time frame, though.
Er, sorry for those grammar/typing errors: in that first paragraph I meant “lots of information;” not “lost of info” (though it would be funny if the blog disappeared/became “lost”). Also sorry I typed: “… this blog called “ESeems Edwards spent a certain amount of time in and around NYC at the end of May. I found this blog called “Edwards News Group”
I didn’t proofread obviously –this new Edwards news that keeps flooding is making me too eager to comment quickly.
Sorry, also I meant the town of Summit, NJ; not “Summit County”
I just read a creepy, very creepy article in the archives of Time magazine, detailing Kerry’s regret for choosing Edwards as his running mate. http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1626498-2,00.html
What clearly comes across, is Edwards creepy manipulation of tragedy to evoke sympathy, so that he can have his ambitious way. He did this with Kerry, and he has did this in his recent presidential campaign with his wife’s cancer. The guy is sick, seriously.
Kudos to you and your excellent blog.
I love that post at Daily Kos where the author was forced to admit defeat:
“UPDATED: By now you’ve all heard the news. But I still stand by the photo being fake which was the general point of the story. ”
Paging Dan Rather…
Aw, thanks for the forgiveness. I’m really curious to hear the candidates’ and their surrogates’ reactions now — someone get Bill Clinton on the phone, stat!
Will Ferrell as John Edwards in, “Save Me Black Jesus” (PG-13)
______________________________________________
John Edwards: “Save me BLACK JESUS…SAVE me now! Please BLACK JESUS, say something to make this all go away!”
Black Jesus: “Sorry John, right now Michelle and I have our feet in our mouths and John McCain has a foot up both our asses”.
John
Edwards: “Black Jesus…Black Jesus…where’d you go? Ahhhhhhh….no
please don’t throw me under that buuuuss, thud thud……”
OK, are we done yet?
Because we now live in a police state, and in really important news, Bush and *his* friends lied us into war.
But you already knew that.
Leave it to people like hadenuf to stand athwart history and yell: “Waaaaaaaaah!”
“I have given a complete interview on this matter and having done so, will have nothing more to say.” (John Edwards, August 8, 2008.)
I bet Rielle will has a lot to say … in a paternity suit and tell-all book. By claiming not to be the baby-daddy and claiming that Randy Andy is the baby-daddy, Edwards has besmirched Rielle’s reputation even more! And, she doesn’t strike as the sort of person who wouldn’t retalitate.
Where is Rielle? Where is McGovern? Where are the Youngs? Are they all with their lawyers trying to see how airtight their nondisclosure agreements are? Will we hear from them soon?
Hey Simon, I wanted to expound a bit on the question you posit in one of the above postscripts: The postscript references Edwards’ official statement: “With my family, I took responsibility for my actions in 2006 and today I take full responsibility publicly. But that misconduct took place for a short period in 2006. It ended then. I am and have been willing to take any test necessary to establish the fact that I am not the father of any baby, and I am truly hopeful that a test will be done so this fact can be definitively established”
You in turn, ask: “If that’s the case, why did he wait until now? Is that what the whole “I earned forgiveness from my family already, you vultures” spin is all about?
Well, Simon, what I think it’s about is the fact that BOTH John and Elizabeth had concocted an elaborate spin before Edwards had even began campaigning in the Democratic primaries. According to his own statement, Edwards told Elizabeth in 2006 about his affair Rielle. They decided together that they still wanted to try and campaign in the primaries and thus decided to take certain actions such as removing the Webisodes, having beingisfree.org removed from archive.org, and doing tons of public events together. If a reporter ever found out about John’s affair, they didn’t want to have lots of video or info on Rielle out there and I guess they figured they’d just tell the reporters that they had worked through their problems and that their relationship is stronger than ever. This was all worked out before Elizabeth’s cancer returned in March of 2007, but when it did, hell, it was just something that would work perfectly for Edwards’ narrative. Commenter Theresa makes a good point in linking to that Time article and stating: “what clearly comes across, is Edwards creepy manipulation of tragedy to evoke sympathy, so that he can have his ambitious way. He did this with Kerry, and he has did this in his recent presidential campaign with his wife’s cancer. The guy is sick, seriously”. Edwards knew he would use his wife’s cancer recurrence to maximize publicity for his campaign and enhance the carefully crafted narrative of how he and Elizabeth have a deep, wonderful relationship, witness his and Elizabeth’s decision to have a ceremony to renew their vows replete with giving many interviews about it and releasing photos of the event to People magazine. This was all part of a carefully crafted narrative, so that, should the press ever find out/report on the affair during the campaign, John AND Elizabeth could both describe how their relationship is stronger now and how Elizabeth’s return of cancer has brought them even closer. Edwards is now trying to keep that narrative alive; and anything happening between him and Rielle in 2007 would not make for good spin.
I agree with hadenuf. We live in such a police state now, that it’s almost impossible to say what you think. About anything. Especially on an internet blog thingy. He’d never get away with something like that. In fact I’m sure W’s stormtroopers are headed to his house right now!
Of course the irony there is, try saying some of this stuff over at Kos. I’m sure they’d be thrilled to let you exercise your first amendment rights.
Simon, nice job with your postscript: “Hot Air also points out the self-worshipping self-pity in Edwards’ statement: “In the course of several campaigns, I started to believe that I was special and became increasingly egocentric and narcissistic. If you want to beat me up — feel free. You cannot beat me up more than I have already beaten up myself.” I’m glad somebody’s finally putting the blame where it belongs: on us. Boy, it takes a special kind of narcissist to be narcissistic while pointing out his own narcissism!”
This statement from Edwards sounds a bit similar to Rielle’s remark in that “Shift Happens” section of her site: “I immediately put in an emergency call to Bob, my savior, healer of all healers. Of course, I got his machine. Left a message - desperately pleading for him to clear all the heavy energy that’s still lingering in this room from every Tom Tourist and Mary Middle America.”
Seems there’s the America in the middle of which resides “Mary” and her good friend “Tom Tourist”. Then there’s the America where those who view themselves as “special”, “egocentric”, and “narcissistic” inhabit. Maybe commenters “Fortunate Son” (with the help of his psychologist friend) and “Ellis Easton Bret” can do a little psychoanalysis on John!
Kris said: “I’m glad somebody’s finally putting the blame where it belongs: on us. Boy, it takes a special kind of narcissist to be narcissistic while pointing out his own narcissism!”

I sent his admission off to two psychologists. Because it was a tightly held secret, I’m guessing Edwards wrote most of it himself.
We’ll see what they have to say!
““I think this president has shown a remarkable disrespect for his office, for the moral dimensions of leadership, for his friends, for his wife, for his precious daughter,” Edwards said in 1999. “It is breathtaking to me the level to which that disrespect has risen.”
-John Edwards speaking about Bill Clinton circa 1999

Bo, the media picks up on the story on a 3pm on a Friday with the Olympics starting this very same day with Edwards’ interview airing on Nightline which just couldn’t be on any later if it tried. This story will be gone by Monday, Tuesday tops (because some American is bound to win a medal by then) with the media having “covered” it.
“This story will be gone by Monday, Tuesday tops…”
Rocko, I think that would have been true had JE confessed the whole thing, like any sane person would have. Now that he’s (inexplicably & moronically) dangling this denial about fatherhood out there, we’ve got guaranteed drama through the democratic convention. And there’s NO WAY they’re stupid enough to let this jackass open his pie-hole in front of one of their microphones.
Oh wait, this IS the democratic party I’m talking about.
John Edwards: the douche-bag that just keeps on giving.
At some point someone is going to have to pay child support for this child. So who is Ms. Hunter going to demand that money from? Mr. Young or Mr. Edwards. One of them is the father and is going to have to support the mother and child for the next 18 YEARS. Ms. Hunter did’t make enough money making campaign videos to just walk away with a blank birth certificate. We don’t need to wait for a DNA test…Ms. Hunter is going sue one of them.
Snoop, he’s not talking at the convention because that’s Barack’s stage and Barack is not going let himself get upstaged by a white philanderer or his wife. So I doubt he’d let John Edwards do it. Notice Rielle and Andrew and Bob and everyone else involved in this story has seemed to disappear off the face of the Earth. There’s no story here, Rielle isn’t in front of the camera saying he’s the father, Andrew isn’t in front of the camera saying he isn’t. And frankly, let’s be honest everyone is pretty much just nodding and winking that he’s “not” the father and he “didn’t” have Rielle paid off.
It’s over. I would honestly be surprised if come Wednesday, you turn on the nightly news on either of the big three networks or open any of the big newspapers and you hear anything about John Edwards. They’re already geared up for China, there’s the Olympics, the conventions are coming, and Russia looks like it’s going to be engaged in a full scale war with Georgia. John Edwards and his pass around girl are done.
I dunno, Rocko… If the reaction in the last 9 hours is any indication, the media are pissed that this whole thing has made them look like (even bigger) idiots, and now that he’s laid himself open they’re going to feast on his heart.
Just watched Edwards Nightline interview. Obviously lying through his teeth for the whole thing. Consistently dismisses Woodruff’s reasonable questions about paternity, money, and the LA meeting with RH by saying “these are things in supermarket tabloids that make the most outrageous allegations every week,” all in an interview to admit that these supermarket tabloid allegations were true all along. Bizarre. But at least we can see that he’s lying, so that probably rules out ASPD. Armchair diagonses of the principals are:
John Edwards: Probably not ASPD, jury out on NPD, but it appears that he satisfies 8 out of the 9 NPD criteria
Rielle Hunter: Probably BPD
Patrick Bateman: ASPD and NPD and … Duct tape. I need it for… taping something.
There’s blood in the water now and Edwards’s performance is erratic and invites further attack — this isn’t going to disappear until after all the paternity and money issues are tracked down.
when this story “broke” - and by that I of course mean, when the “legitimate news” decided to air this non-story - I felt some evil glee and cackling arising. now, this whole thing is just making my head and my soul hurt. ayeesh. John Edwards, you bastard you.
This was an interesting article about Edwards’ NightLine interview. Is good to see, finally, the MSM react (not that we even need them anymore…)
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2008/08/john-edwards-on.html
Short You Tube clip on the Politico, May 30, 2007 as Edwards talks about the NIE on a Google Town Hall joint. Notice the loose tie and insouciant attitude towards “intelligence information.” He seems pretty damned relaxed, if you know what I mean. I like the part where he says “transparency, openness, sunshine.”
