This “Girl” Needs Some New Material

Remember when Madonna played at Live Earth? You know, Al Gore’s concert to remind us that WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE FROM GLOBAL WARMING? The superannuated superstar even wrote Live Earth’s theme song, “Hey You,” which was all about how you need to stop living your life, you planet-killer you. Unfortunately for her, people started looking into her carbon footprint, and hey, you wouldn’t believe how gigantic it was. And they dug up some other little nitpicky things, like the fact that she was spending 10 grand a month on Earth-destroying bottled water. Details, details.

In response to being scrutinized by the little people, Madonna, via her spokesperson, claimed she was “educating herself and her family and has begun to make changes around her that reflect her awareness and concern for the future of the planet.” Pretty, pretty words!

Ecorazzi is holding her to those words, and they’re disappointed. According to them:

Environmental organizations got into the commenting zone last week when Madonna’s crew publicly released the amount of crap and resources going into her “Sticky and Sweet” tour. In particular, the peeps over at CarbonFootprint.com released figures showing that her 45-day concert extravaganza is equivalent to the carbon output of around 160 Britons — in one year…

Even odder? Madonna is plugging Global Warming activism on her tour!! In a video interlude of her song “Get Stupid”, she flashes several images of the planet being harmed — with slices of it slowly being taken away. There are even flashes of Al Gore on screen, along with those of Mahatma Gandhi, John Lennon, and Barack Obama. For some reason, she also grouped John McCain in with a montage that features Hitler. Really?!

Really.

Hey You: shut up!

If she’s as smart as people keep saying she is, why does she keep swallowing the same political Kool-Aid™ as every other skanky, uninformed bimbo in Hollywood?

  2. 2 Toubrouk Aug 26th, 2008 at 11:13 am

She’s such a bag of hot gas, I can’t stand her. The cow is ready to take any fad to peddle her crap.

Madonna infuriates McCain with Hitler-Mugabe sequence at Cardiff concert

    (Joel Ryan/AP)
Madonna at Cardiff: she is no stranger to controversy, having angered the Vatican on a previous tour
    Times Online

The campaign of John McCain went head-to-head with Madonna today after the 50-year-old pop diva appeared to compare the Republican candidate to Hitler and Robert Mugabe.

Madonna, who kicked off her “Sticky and Sweet” world tour at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff yesterday, made the swipe during a performance of Get Stupid, when Mr McCain’s image was flashed up alongside images of the Führer and Zimbabwean dictator, as well as destruction and global warming.

In a none-too-subtle contrast, Barack Obama was bracketed in a subsequent sequence alongside Mahatma Gandhi, John Lennon and Al Gore.

A McCain campaign spokesman, Tucker Bounds, condemned the segment. “The comparisons are outrageous, unacceptable and crudely divisive all at the same time,” Mr Bounds said.

I don’t think I can add anything to Austin’s statement.

  4. 4 Austin Aug 26th, 2008 at 11:26 am

If Godwin’s Law can apply to dirty ho-bags who have extended their fifteen minutes to unnatural and mind-boggling proportions, then I think she just scored a win for the McCain camp…

I do not attend concerts to hear a sermon. I attend concerts to be entertained. How much resources are squandered putting on one of her shows? Her carbon footprint must be a enormous as Sasquatch’s.

  6. 6 Toubrouk Aug 26th, 2008 at 12:01 pm

Do this is just me or Madonna is now a “Preacher” for the Radical Left? Discordia got a point here; If her shows are about sermons, then the crowd it attract must be worshippers. This would put Madonna in the same bin than the Televangelists and their big revival shows.

  7. 7 Queen Bee Aug 26th, 2008 at 12:17 pm

Madonna is unbelievably narcissistic. All of this is just a manifestation of her massive personality disorder. What I can’t believe is that anyone pays any attention to anything she says.

  8. 8 SweetCandy Aug 26th, 2008 at 12:27 pm

How do you spell joke? M-A-D-O-N-N-A.

I don’t think McCain should be insulted. I mean look at the source. Ever since Madonna got her first record deal she has been trying to use shock to sell records. It’s all marketing and damn does it work! Everyone is talking about this, so she got what she wanted. I really doubt she believes any of the she sells, she just likes to jump on the band wagon.

  9. 9 Aleric Aug 26th, 2008 at 12:30 pm

McCain needs to start including Madonna in his celebrity videos with Obama but he should use her giving a blow job to Karl Marx as a reference.

Does she use steriods? Her thighs frighten me.

(On a side note–when I came to comment, it welcomed me back as Hi Heels Lo Life. I know that’s a frequent poster here….not sure how the name got onto my computer….but I recall someone else commenting under the guise of being HHLL and HHLL having to explain that it wasn’t them….someone with more computer knowledge than I might want to check on that)

Madonna is one of those uneducated, uninformed celebrities who likes to pretend she is some sort of intellectual and ends up saying dopey things.

I’ve seen big slabs of serrano ham that look just like her thighs. Eeek.

  14. 14 Dr Fager Aug 26th, 2008 at 2:17 pm

Is it wise for a menopausal woman to be on steroids? I don’t care how much she works out, she doesn’t look natural.

  15. 15 Sam Aug 26th, 2008 at 2:36 pm

Madonna is just another “useful idiot” of the lunatic left. Do as I say, not as I do.

The modern environmental movement arose out of the wreckage of the New Left. They call themselves Green because they’re too yellow to admit they’re really Reds. So Lenin’s birthday was chosen to be the date of Earth Day. Even a moderate politician like Al Gore has been clear as to what is needed. In “Earth in the Balance”, he wrote that saving the planet would require a “wrenching transformation of society”.

She never claimed herself carbon-free. So where did you guys come up with that idea? And why does she need to be more educated than she was even entitled to in the first place?

Hello!! She’s a performer!! For her to have gone out of her way and take charge on so large an issue rather proves that she’s doing her part (if not more given she even stirred a discussion on this site, y-e-a-h!!) Flashnews, everyone. Truly uninformed ppl keep to themselves and don’t show such humility. Yes- It takes humility for even the least educated among us to be willing to subject our convictions to the scrutiny of self-righteous vultures like you (and me most likely).

I’m sure she’d be happy to engage in a conversation with all of you, as education really isn’t of the matter here, but rather who thinks they’re entitled to do their part or not depending on their relative wealth, time or resources, whatever.

So to conclude, if the hungry wants an omelette, yes it shall take a few eggs to get there.. even if the bird isn’t well.. the best around.

  17. 17 vitaminkid Aug 26th, 2008 at 2:46 pm

Oh, and on a side note, she did come up with new material!! Did you see her most recent cheek liposuction job? How’s that for putting us carb-watching wrecks in line with our malnutritioned neighbors of the third world?

  18. 18 sophie Aug 26th, 2008 at 2:48 pm

uggghh. she needs to GO AWAY. and take guy ritchie with her.

  19. 19 Austin Aug 26th, 2008 at 3:03 pm

One could only compare breaking an egg to feed the hungry to Madonna’s massive carbon footprint for this tour if the person breaking the egg was a hardline vegan activist, and it wasn’t just one egg, but thousands.

Make no mistakes, she deserves her mention here on Deceiver. She deserves it quite well.

  20. 20 Phoenix Aug 26th, 2008 at 3:13 pm

vitaminkid- no, she never claimed to be carbon free, but do you think Madonna really needs the cash from this latest tour the way the rest of us need the cash from the jobs we drive to? She could do her part for the environment much more effectively by staying home and not having a carbon footprint that huge. That would be a huge, and very direct, impact. But that’s not fun and doesn’t get you PR. Much cooler to tell the little guys what to do. We don’t need Madonna to broach the topic of the environment, plenty of people are preaching about it while going about their eco-hating ways.

To take your omelette example, what she’s doing is telling us how to make an omelette to feed the hungry…while keeping all the eggs for herself.

  21. 21 biggdawg Aug 26th, 2008 at 3:40 pm

The one thing that gets me about ppl like Madonna and Al Whore is the fact that they fly around the country in their G5s collecting fees for speeches and concerts that dwarf what you or I make in a year, and then have the insolence to tell the rest of us that we need to cut back and reduce OUR carbon footprint. Please. Sell your G5 and your 10,000 square foot mansion and get back to me.

  22. 22 Hi Heels Lo Life Aug 26th, 2008 at 4:17 pm

    @ Vitaminkid:
“I’m sure she’d be happy to engage in a conversation with all of you.” You may be sure, but I myself rather suspect she’d be more interested in lecturing. Yes, really.

  23. 23 Corsair Aug 26th, 2008 at 6:14 pm

Telling people to reduce their carbon footprint seems pointless when corporations produce millions of times what anyone makes. How about they buy better carbon-reducing filters for their factories and I’ll keep my A/C going as much as I need in the Texas heat.

And if an actor occasionally agrees with anyone’s views it’s a coincidence. Most of them never got more then minor tutoring for education. They’re extremely rich and uneducated. A combination we see producing astoundingly stupid politicians all over the country.

By the way, Madonna’s inhuman thighs can be explained. She wore out the old pair of legs and had to get them replaced with a sturdier pair. I’m thinking He-Man’s.

  24. 24 Black Prince Aug 26th, 2008 at 11:56 pm

Another Barbara Striesand bimbo. At least Barbara can sing.

  25. 25 Jake Aug 27th, 2008 at 7:24 am

I think McCain’s has bigger worries than Madonna’s critique of him when Paris Hilton has already owned his ass in front of a global audience. That must have stung.

  26. 26 Sam Aug 29th, 2008 at 8:29 pm

She is just another Eco-Nazi like Gore & the rest of useful idiots.

Please educate yourself before you attack the sceptics:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUUYcfsaSnw
Former UN Environmental Advisor, Peter Taylor, talks about the conflicting science regarding climate change and the ensuing confusion.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvO6oLYWAQI&feature=related

Psychologists define cognitive dissonance as the angst caused by possessing two conflicting thoughts at the same time.

According to prominent climate realist Philip Stott, this is the condition global warming obsessed media members are currently experiencing as a ten-year cooling trend — clearly visible to all that can read a thermometer! — refutes Nobel Laureate Al Gores’s junk science concerning increased CO2 emissions causing rising temperatures.

As Stott wrote Tuesday (emphasis added throughout):

I must ask a very serious and urgent question of our media. Why do you continue to talk glibly about current climate ‘warming’ when it is now widely acknowledged that there has been no ‘global warming’ for the last ten years, a cooling trend that many think may continue for at least another ten years? How can you talk of the climate ‘warming’ when, on the key measures, it isn’t? And now a leading Mexican scientist is even predicting that we may enter another ‘Little Ice Age’ - a ‘pequeña era de hielo’.

Such media behaviour exhibits a classic condition known as ‘cognitive dissonance’. This is experienced when belief in a grand narrative persists blindly even when the facts in the real world begin to contradict what the narrative is saying. Sadly, our media have come to have a vested interest in ‘global warming’, as have so many politicians and activists. They are terrified that the public may begin to question everything if climate is acknowledged, on air and in the press, not to be playing ball with their pet trope.

After discussing the cooling that has occurred since 1998, and some of the possible reasons, Stott continued to point to media’s psychological malady:

So, why are newspapers, magazines, radio, and television not telling us all this? Because they have invested so much effort over the last ten years in hyping up the exact opposite. Moreover, it is especially pathetic sophistry to claim, as dedicated ‘global warmers’ are wont to do, that ‘natural forces’ are having the temerity to “suppress” ‘global warming’. The fundamental point has always been this: climate change is governed by hundreds of factors, or variables, and the very idea that we can manage climate change predictably by understanding and manipulating at the margins one politically-selected factor is as misguided as it gets. [...]

If this cooling phase really does persist, it will be illuminating to observe how long our media can maintain its befuddled state of ‘cognitive dissonance’.

To best exemplify the problem media are facing, one must go back to 1957 when cognitive dissonance was first proposed as a psychological affectation (forgive the Wiki citation, but it sums it up best):

Social psychologist Leon Festinger first proposed the theory in 1957 after the publication of his book When Prophecy Fails, observing the counterintuitive belief persistence of members of a UFO doomsday cult and their increased proselytization after the leader’s prophecy failed. The failed message of Earth’s destruction, purportedly sent by aliens to a woman in 1956, became a disconfirmed expectancy that increased dissonance between cognitions, thereby causing most members of the impromptu cult to lessen the dissonance by accepting a new prophecy: that the aliens had instead spared the planet for their sake.

Does that mean climate alarmists like Gore are going to continue to push this myth even if global temperatures continue to decline in the coming decades?

Well, if you had all of your money invested in this canard, wouldn’t YOU do everything within your power to perpetuate the hysteria?

Yes, that’s a rhetorical question, because most people reading this have scruples, unlike those that certainly know they’re lying to the public for their own financial gain.

  27. 27 Phoenix Aug 30th, 2008 at 7:29 pm

    Sam-

I know there’s still a lot of back and forth on the global warming thang, which is cool, I’m all for debate. But unless you’re a trained, certified psychiatrist spouting off a lot of talk of “cognitive dissonance” just weakens your point. You sound like a freshman who’s taken his first psych course and discovered all these cool terms that seem to describe everything. You can’t generalize that “media” is experiencing cognitive dissonance any more than you can say that all media is experiencing manic-depressive disorder or suffering from the fundamental attribution error.

Media is not one, unified unit, even at it’s worst and most sheep-like. It also isn’t a human being. Bring on controversial debates, question everything ya want, but maybe try to separate your arguments for good science from meaningless psychobabble? You’ll get more folks to listen.
