Kate Hudson, Expert on Relationships

I’m all for women’s lib and the sexual revolution and all that. But to be honest, Kate Hudson gets on my last nerve.

Gotta face it, girlfriend is basically the female version of John Mayer. She started with Chris Robinson, the guy from the Black Crowes who she married. Then they divorced last year, and she immediately said she was ready to get back out there.

And boy was she ever. First there was Owen Wilson, who attempted suicide after their breakup. Then she lived with Dax Shepard for a while before she moved on to Heath Ledger for a few weeks, until hooking up with Wilson again this spring.

Hot on the trails of that romance came Lance Armstrong and their highly publicized three-month whirlwind whatever. That fizzled in July, and literally two days later, she was frolicking with hockey player Eric Lindros in Hawaii. And now, as she tells W magazine, it’s been a month so it’s back to Chris Robinson again.

And that recaps a year in the dating life of Kate Hudson. All of that would be fine and dandy except that Kate is a mom to four-year-old son (yes, son) Ryder. From that same W interview:

It’s son Ryder, 4, who’s the real love of her life. A young mom, Kate doesn’t regret choosing him over Young Hollywood nightlife.

“Am I gonna look back and say, ‘God, I wish I could have gone to that… that… concert?’” she said. “I’d rather be listening to my son sing songs. I’d rather be watching him sleep.”

So how genuine can this be? I just can’t help but think this is not the way to do the single-mom dating thing. It’s got to be confusing for Ryder when mommy is living with daddy but boning absolutely everyone else in showbiz.

How can you not love a woman with such a beautiful daughter?

  2. 2 GoMegDotCom Sep 4th, 2008 at 11:59 am

That daughter goes right up their with Celine Dion’s.

Ugh, I hate the woman that go “oh I’m just a chilled person who stays home with my kid. Now excuse me while I f*ck half of Hollywood for a moment.”

That’s funny. She’s never photographed with that son she spends so much time with, yet she’s always out and about with her Flavor of the Month. She’s so full of it I can smell it all the way over here in England.

I get the feeling Kate Hudson is one of those women that until you date them it seems like a great idea, then they’re so smothering you plan your escape the second you wake up and can’t wait to get away.

Maybe she’s subconsciously looking for a daddy figure.

    Two questions:

    1. Why hasn’t she dated John Mayer yet?

    2. Why is she dressing her son like a girl?

There’s nothing really wrong with being the sexual social butterfly, but I’m not sure how you can do that AND be a homebody at the same time. How liberated can all these women be who think they have to *pretend* to be a stay at home mothering type to be accepted when they’re really not?

I’m mystified by the fact that she seems to be such a mankiller. I mean, someone attempted suicide over her?

    OK, that’s mean.

rockitqueen – LOL and i don’t understand why she doesn’t cut her child’s hair.. like someone already said, celine dion’s sons hair is really long as well. ick!

    phoenix,

Maybe she is having sex with them at her home.

    Bruce & Phoenix:

Would that make her a “lay at home” mom?

    Ugh.

This woman’s ridiculous. She’s overly dependent because she can’t stand being without a man for half a second.

“It’s got to be confusing for Ryder when mommy is living with daddy but boning absolutely everyone else in showbiz.”

Sure, but it can’t be as confusing as that hair… I can’t imagine it’s great for that poor boy’s self-image to look in the mirror and see a girl all the time.

Ok I will stand up for the kid on the long hair issue, long hair my entire life, but the cut is wrong and she is dressing him like a fruit. Too many fruity colored clothes and not enough basic colors, plus lose the womans glasses.

Damn that sounded too much like a “Queer Eye…”

  15. 15 Phoenix Sep 6th, 2008 at 4:58 pm

Angelique, that was awesome. I think that’s “lay at home” is a perfect term for many of these gals. Paris Hilton as well, who’s currently claiming to be the stay at home kinda gal…maybe the geography is correct, but definitely a different sentiment than “stay at home” really implies ;)

I tend to agree with Fortunate Son, in that she seems to be looking for a father figure… she seems to not feel “complete” without the appearance of the happy little family. It is really sad… she is a beautiful woman, but she just seems sad and lonely. I hope that she can learn to be happy with herself, and appreciate her precious child while he’s young. I know, as a mom, that it’s too easy to wake up one day and wonder where the years have gone. I hope she doesn’t miss out on all of those special moments with Ryder, because she is chasing around the latest man to fulfill her temporary needs.
