Diddy’s Imaginary Private Jet

Sean Diddy Combs (can we agree to call him that?) recently made an online video to rant about the cost of fuel for his private jet. His diamond shoes must be too tight too.

He went on to say he’d degraded himself to flying coach on American Airlines:

“Even your boy is being affected by gas prices!” Sean “Diddy” Combs said in the video, which was filmed at an airline gate as he entered a plane. “As you know, I do own my own jet and I have been having flying back and forth to L.A. pursuing my acting career. Now, if I’m flying back and forth like twice in a month, that’s like $200,000 or $250,000 round trip. I’m back on American Airlines right now. OK? Your boy Diddy right now is on American Airlines.”

Green bloggers rejoiced at his announcement, thinking maybe this also meant Diddy was paying attention to his carbon footprint.

Not so much. Turns out Diddy has never owned a private jet, according to federal records.

One private aviation source scoffed: “It’s my jet this, my jet that. I have list of every plane with the name of the owner, and he’s not on it.”

Heh. But what I don’t get is why Diddy would lie. He’s been in the business long enough that he has established street cred, unlike, say, Akon and we all remember what happened when those exaggerations came out.

Wow, only “environmentally friendly” celebrities can bitch about going into coach.

I miss the good old days where Diddy was just a backup rapper for Biggie Smalls. ::tear::

There are a few of possibilities:

    1) His record label may own the jet, not him personally.
    2) He may belong to a fractional ownership program, like http://www.netjets.com
    3) He has shielded himself from tax liability by incorporating a shell company that owns the jet

I have the same gripe about feeding all of these super models that live with me. Thank God they don’t eat all that much. Except the redheaded one. She must have put on 3 pounds since she moved in. Time to rein in her appetite I guess.

    “…why Diddy would lie.”

Because he’s a damn, stooge, NEO-CON in sheep’s clothing! All he wants to do is increase his carbon footprint and kill us all!

    Pasta, you’re a baller.

  6. 6 GoMegDotCom Sep 10th, 2008 at 11:09 am

Don’t worry Snoop-Diggity-DANG-Dawg…..Sting is making sure his footprint (and ego) remain in first place.

    Diddy charters not owns.

A quick internet search found coast to coast charter flights for a flat rate of $25,000

So are we supposed to take up a charity drive so that the poor guy can ride private in his alleged jet again?

WHy were greeners happy? He essentially said he was only going regular air to save cash, and if he gets the dough or prices fall he’ll go right back to private (assuming the jet is real). Kinda like…all celebs with jets, yes? If they can afford it, they do it.

oh, Corey, you missed a possibility- he might have Wonder Woman’s invisible jet, and nobody can see it to put it on record!

Why have humans bragged and boasted about non-existent/exaggerated possesions since the dawn of time? From “My cave is bigger than your cave,” to “I’ve got a jet and you don’t, envy me,” it’s all the same. Some insecure people make themselves feel better by making other people envy them. :-p He acts like one of the worst of this type.

I used to work at Warner Music Group in the royalties department. I saw firsthand how much Bad Boy Records – and Mr. Diddy himself – made.

Trust me… the guy can afford a private jet. However, me may very well be blowing it on other things. Like blow. And hookers.

    :-x

Deceiver should do an expose on MTV’s cribs.

Ninety percent of the houses they tour are not owned by the celebrities filmed in them.

Probably a third aren’t even inhabited by the celebrites who are filmed in them.

  12. 12 llamasrule Sep 10th, 2008 at 1:59 pm

hmmm, FS found coast-to-coast charters for 25,000 and Diddy says it puts him back 250,000. Why the difference? How much do hookers and blow cost these days? And who is this mysterious aviation insider who has a list of every single plane and who owns them? hmmmm

  13. 13 Pastafarian Sep 10th, 2008 at 3:14 pm

I’m quite sure he can afford it. But why lie? Just go buy one. He could buy 10 private jets and put great big shiny wheels on all of them for all I care.

But if I had a couple a hundred million dollars, blow, and hookers would sound right to me.

  14. 14 Pastafarian Sep 10th, 2008 at 3:25 pm

I’ll betcha after 9/11 the FAA at least has a list of all the planes, and who owns them in the U.S. I bet it wouldn’t be that hard to find a list.

That number starting with N on all the tails, of all airplanes is just like a license plate.

  15. 15 Trompi Sep 10th, 2008 at 8:32 pm

Oh Diddy, boo hoo! Huge gas prices are affecting you and your imaginary jet while your huge ego and imaginary worth are affecting my gag reflex.

  16. 16 Alicia Sep 10th, 2008 at 8:40 pm

Waaahhh… he has to fly on a commercial airplane… I feel soooo sorry for him (NOT!)!

  17. 17 Pastafarian Sep 10th, 2008 at 10:55 pm

You are correct. I concur that I am indeed a baller.

I can’t believe I don’t know what baller means. Man I must be even lamer than I thought.

  18. 18 mikezila Sep 10th, 2008 at 11:05 pm

if he’s spending it on hookers and coke, at least he’s not wasting it.

  19. 19 Chronic Malanga Sep 11th, 2008 at 3:21 am

Maybe flying with the little people in business class will bring his arrogant ass down to earth a bit…wait, who am I kidding?

  20. 20 JD Sep 11th, 2008 at 9:55 am

It costs a couple of thousand dollars a flight hour to own a private jet. Some nice ones cost as little as a grand. So for a six hour round trip you can expect to pay as little a six and maybe as much as eighteen thousand for a round trip. Maybe he means like ten to twenty times a month or maybe he’s just a dumb a#% playing poor little victim democrat. He’ll fit right in, in Hollywood.

  21. 21 Josh Sep 11th, 2008 at 11:28 am

You are calculating just the cost of a flight hour. Not fuel, landing, crew expenses (rest in a hotel + meals), food/beverages hangering or facilities if the aircraft is not turning and burning. Average cost per hour in a Gulfstream G550 is $8500 and in a G-IV its $5700. 5 hours of time used (6 mins for taxi in, nd 6 out, maintenance and ‘work up’ from where the jet currently is to Diddy. Assuming TransCon travel. Landing fees range from $1000 to $350 in these two examples using major airports in the area which can handle them. Fuel is $1207 per hour assuming best rate of burn and best price at the FBO. FBO fees are $600 unless your charter provider has a pre arrangement with the FBO and $900 per day for crew (assuming a transcon its just domestic).

Now when added up assuming the G550 is coming from JFK to an executive airport near LAX that’s $51716 without food, the 7.5% Federal Excise Fee $3.50 per passenger segment tax, ground transport, phone usage or anything extra. Not quite $250,000, unless he is drinking tons of liquor and his entorage and him are eating the best of the best and ground transport is a helicopter from LA to Yuma, AZ and back again. Oh and let’s not forget calling his baby momma, that’s expensive too (1-3$ per min depending on contract jet has with company).

So there it is, but it certainly is not $250,000. It does not quite cost that for the JFK to LAX TransCon flown by AA in a 767.

  22. 22 phoenix Sep 11th, 2008 at 12:45 pm

I still say he’s using Wonder Woman’s invisible jet, which is probably waaaaay more expensive. Just imagine the amount of Windex alone!

  23. 23 chrispy Sep 11th, 2008 at 4:10 pm

speaking of wonder woman… is her jet magic? or technology?

if its technology, why doesnt wonder woman herself become invisable when shes inside it? after all, her feul, luggage, all the wires and upolstery, etc are invisable.. if the seat covers become invisable, her bikini should also… right?

if its magic, why a jet? why not an invisable dragon, or just a ball of magic? or simply teleport?

  24. 24 katie Sep 11th, 2008 at 10:25 pm

oh gee diddy, i feel for you. really. life’s tough! while i’m trying to pay back 40 grand for my college tuition i’ll make sure just to send some money to you. since your multimillion life seems SO hard. please.. how ridiculous.

I wish the programme ‘I Want To Work For Diddy’ was something imaginary, but unfortunately it is all too real on Virgin 1 in the UK. For many celebrities the arse and the mouth exchange roles and for Diddy this process is complete and irreversible.

Diddy. A name straight out of the shyte names dictionary.

Just another “REGGIN” claiming to own what they don’t even GOT…His whole career is smoke and mirrors….who would want to work for that Po’ BOY? He is desperate, which is why he has that stoopid show “Wanna Work For Diddy” It makes me sick, how everyone bows down to him and his people, when he has made money by pure exploitation…just another lie, to make us all feel inferior because if he can get where he is then everyone can…well, I guess I will neva be a no one, cuz I aint a hustler….

  28. 28 Fortunate Son Sep 19th, 2008 at 12:15 pm

After stepping in dog feces while wearing gold sneakers,

Diddy should change his name to P. Doody.
