T.I.’s Baby Mama Sues for More $$$$

Rapper T.I.’s week just went downhill.

He started off performing at the VMAs (introduced by Jordin Sparks’s newsmaking comment), but now his baby mama is suing him for more money to raise their kids together.

Normally this would be where I call Lashon Dixon — his childhood sweetheart, mind you — a gold-digger, but she gets a measly $2,000 a month from him for the two boys (ages 7 and 8). That doesn’t sound like very much to me to raise a family on, and I think it’s only fair that he pays up.

If he fights it, Dixon can always reference the lyrics in his big hit “Whatever You Like”:

Gas up the jet for you tonight
And baby you can go wherever you like
I said you can go wherever you like

Anytime you want to, pick up the telephone
You know it ain’t nothin’, drop a couple stacks on you
Want it, you can get it, my dear
Five million dollar homes, drop Bentleys, I swear, yeah

Unless he pulls a Diddy, it sounds like he can afford it. Though maybe it would have been better if she didn’t have to drag him to court for it.

Please…how can he bling out his Chains if he is busy feeding his Kids? Come on Deciever, give him a break!

That hat just looks way too big for his (pin)head.

  3. 3 llamasrule Sep 11th, 2008 at 8:45 pm

2,000 a month is more than I make, and I have 2 boys. One of them is 6′4” and weighs over 300 pounds. He eats a lot of groceries. Then again, I’m not a single mother. But if I had 2 grand plus what I make I could do it easily. Then again, cost of living is dirt cheap where I live. Probably not so for her. At least he pays. That may have been the settlement they had before he “hit it big”. Then again, I really don’t know who all these rap or hip-hop or whatever people are. At least I knew who the politicians were….lol…..hey! Vin Deisel has a new movie coming out. Can we ask the “is he gay or what” question again and get pictures of him shirtless??

    haha….so funny Jrod
I do thinks it’s hypocritical of him to rap about giving whatever his “dear” needs while he has to be hauled in court by his baby’s momma but really is that new? Do you ever hear rappers rap about buying rrsps or paying their boo’s health insurance? No, they rap bout excess not responsibility.

  5. 5 That person Sep 11th, 2008 at 11:43 pm

I hate to be “that person,” but there are quite a few people in America, not to mention the rest of the world, who make around $1,000 or much, much less a month and raise two or more children. Just because she had a rapper as her children’s father doesn’t mean that $2,000 a month plus whatever she makes isn’t adequate. That goes for every celebrity.

  6. 6 Rocko Sep 12th, 2008 at 1:18 am

No, no, Holly, see what T.I. is doing there is telling a woman what he thinks she wants to hear so he can “get in dem drawers”

  7. 7 Alicia Sep 12th, 2008 at 4:41 am

I probably shouldn’t even get in on this one… my baby daddy is one that doesn’t wanna pay a dime. After my son was born, he (baby daddy) started denying it, ’cause he didn’t wanna pay child support. With jerks like that, I say stick it to ‘em!

  8. 8 Pastafarian Sep 12th, 2008 at 8:09 am

Can’t we please be done with the pimpin’-hat tilt-bling-attitude-grey goose thing yet. These guys are already a parody of themselves.

He really oughta start saving some of that money, his career has about six months left to go.

Oh, oh my. *swoons* He is just a lyrical genius. What woman could resist that?

  10. 10 jj Sep 12th, 2008 at 8:51 am

The lyrics are just a pipe-dream, he really lives in a van down by the river.

  11. 11 I have no idea who these people are Sep 12th, 2008 at 10:43 am

And he will have plenty of time to make shitty rap music when he’s…..living in a van down by the river! sorry i loved the snl skit!

My sister gets $300 a month from her baby daddy. the rent where we live is $700 for a small one bedroom apt. that doesn’t even include things like hydro. So can’t really feel too bad for her there. Maybe if we knew how much she makes and the general cost of living where she is, it would be easier to figure out if he is a hypocrite or not.

  12. 12 phoenix Sep 12th, 2008 at 12:43 pm

Isn’t child support all relative to how much the parent makes, not cost of living?

Like, what heather mills gets for child support isn’t gauged against what it actually costs to raise a kid, but gauged by what daddy makes, right? Or does that only apply in divorce cases?

I honestly have no idea how this works, feel free to correct my assumptions. We got any lawyers in here?

  13. 13 ME Sep 12th, 2008 at 2:09 pm

the amount of child support is calculated by how much the parent makes, in some states they can get up to 30% of the parents earning on child support. If the parent lives in luxury the child should live on luxury too.

  14. 14 trent bowie Sep 12th, 2008 at 2:12 pm

I’m just waiting for the day those kids grow up and sue both their parents for emotional distress. Whatever side you take on this, it’s the kids that have to deal with being fought over like pawns.

  15. 15 StrawberryGirl Sep 12th, 2008 at 2:17 pm

Child support is determined by the standard of living the child would receive if Pops was actually under the same roof. I don’t think that changes if the couple is unmarried.

Unless the big diamond-encrusted thing is costume jewelry, that sucker alone could cover Lil’ T.I.’s college education. Or a Bentley for his 16th birthday.

  16. 16 StrawberryGirl Sep 12th, 2008 at 2:18 pm

Oops, there are two kids. Okay, the watch could over the other kid.

  17. 17 Kelli Sep 12th, 2008 at 4:07 pm

Don’t even know who is.. One hit wonder by the looks of it. Why not grab extra child support while you can. Soon he will be pleading broke as he spent his money on call girls…

  18. 18 Phoenix Sep 12th, 2008 at 4:45 pm

I thought that was how it worked. I’m not saying you can’t make ends meet on $2000 a month but c’mon now…if you’re bragging about how much cash you have you better cough some of it up for your kids.

  19. 19 Jeff Sep 13th, 2008 at 12:30 pm

I pray for the day when the planet has rid itself of rap music and the brain dead drop outs who make and listen to it. But I say that with little hope, since 56% of the kids going to school drop out before finishing simply because they can’t manage to get out of bed in the morning, and with no parental guidance at home and libtards making sure they get none at school either, they hve no hope of being anything but crack head thug wannabees…
“Gas up the jet”??…this pinhead wouldn’t know a jet from a big wheel…dream on…and buy a hat that fits your tiny empty head!!

Guess there is two sides to every story….
ATLANTA — Attorney Statement on Behalf of Atlanta Rapper T.I.

“T.I is an exemplary parent who is seeking joint legal custody of his children. They spend approximately 40 percent of their time with him,” the rapper’s attorney, John Mayou, said in a statement Saturday.

“He has been paying $2,000 per month in child support directly to their mother in addition to paying for their private school and medical expenses and thousands of dollars per month in clothing, gifts and extracurricular activities for them. Their mother has chosen not to be employed at this time.”

“The evidence in this case from both sides is that T.I. is a very loving, involved and generous father.”

  21. 21 sweetk21844 Sep 14th, 2008 at 3:19 am

I think 2,000 monthly aint !!!!! My auntie gets more than that from her baby daddy and her kids are 16 and 17. He is an lawyer and T.I is a MILLIONAIRE!!!! WTF!!!

  22. 22 Ian Sep 15th, 2008 at 10:58 am

    To Kelli, Pastafarian, etc.

I’d just like to mention that T.I. has been in the music scene for nearly a decade. He’s about to release his sixth album, and he’s had 10 Top 40 hit singles. And he’s also actually quite talented. Those lyrics are from his worst song.

  23. 23 that chick Sep 16th, 2008 at 10:44 am

ti should pay up child support to his babymama, he gets paid millions for record sales, hes a cheap bastard..Good luck to his future kids, women should never give up there independance for no man, i dont care what he does or who he is! f*ck that!!..

  24. 24 Anni Sep 16th, 2008 at 11:22 am

It’s incredibly how cheaply you can live, even with people who eat a lotlotlot of food. I do it and manage school (barely). I cannot fault Dixon, however, for wanting a good life for her boys instead of just managing.

  25. 25 SHAWTYC Sep 19th, 2008 at 3:49 pm

He may give her only $2,000.00 per month, but he also takes care of all expenses for his children. What if he pays for their clothing, afterschool activities, and anything else they may need outside of the $2,000.00 he pays her? Is the $2,000.00 for their care or hers?

Heh. You can tell that “Anonymous”/”Judith” was really torn between trying really hard to hammer out a little message of sorts, and eating the keyboard.
