I agree with Chronic Malanga: the Lolita-esque image Britney made up for the fact that she really can’t sing well.

And as a theatre major who does a bit of dancing and singing at the same time, it is a lot of work. There were times in some shows I performed where I wanted to just drop to the fall in exhaustion. But there are performers who are capable of pulling the two off. It takes a lot of raw talent, work and drive. Look at the girls on Broadway for Jebus’ sake!

helena – watch any credible live show or musical. during the hard songs, the singer doesn’t move. all of the more energetic dancing happens during “dance breaks”. hence the name. you stop singing, and then dance. dancing hiphop or street jazz though, and doing it full out, it’s hard to even keep up a conversation, let alone sing on pitch. she either has the best cardio-pulmonary system IN THE WORLD, or that’s about what she sounds like.
