Brad Pitt Likes (Approved) Gays

Variety reports — or, to use Varietyspeak, “Vari reps”:

Brad Pitt has donated $100,000 to fight California’s November ballot initiative that would overturn the state Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage…

“Because no one has the right to deny another their life, even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn’t harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8,” Pitt said Wednesday.

Let’s hear it for our Homosexual-American brothers and brothers and sisters and sisters! Such is Pitt’s dedication to the idea of gay marriage that he and Angelina have vowed not to marry until everybody else can. (They’re not married, right? Or are they? It’s tough to keep up.)

But hold on a sec. What’s this?

That’s from some sort of tribute to Julia Roberts last year. Because obviously she hasn’t received enough accolades for movies like Runaway Bride, I Love Trouble, and Mary Riley.

Now, we here at Deceiver are hardly fans of Larry Craig. His public, um, stance on homosexuality is obviously at odds with his private, er, stance. But it hardly seems sporting to mock the guy for struggling with his deepest urges, when you’re throwing so much weight into, um, backing up gays everywhere. How about trying to understand what he’s going through and, in a manner of speaking, seduce him to seeing your side of things? If Larry Craig would pay attention to anybody, it’d have to be Brad Pitt. (A check for one hundred grand probably couldn’t hurt either.) Or are gay people worthy of respect only when they do exactly what you want them to do?

Still, that was pretty funny. Brad really can act when he puts his mind to it. Save something for your movies, Brad!

Hmmmm. Can I vow to not go to work anymore or pay anymore taxes until every potatoe chip snarfing douchebag in the country gets off his collective ass and contributes something?

Snoop: It’s funny that you compare marriage (a voluntary transaction that benefits both parties [at least under the law]) to paying taxes (a wholly involuntary transaction backed up by threats of violence.)

Simon: You can talk about empathizing with people, you can talk about persuasion, you can talk about being “sporting.” I don’t know the Jolie-Pitts official stance on trawling for sex in bathrooms, but I suspect that, when engaged in by people who HAVEN’T voted for legislation restricting the rights of homosexuals, they wouldn’t have a big problem for it.

    Yeah!

    Huh?

Yeah, Brad Pitt and Clooney made all those sketches about George Micheal, remember? Oh, me either.

So they are just against SOME Bathroom trawlers…

The Gay rights lobby never properly handled the Larry Craig bathroom incident.

    What they should’ve said was:

“Man or woman, George Michael or Larry Craig, no citizen should be prosecuted for engaging in consexual homosexual sex in private”.

(Sidebar: Is a bathroom stall private? Private enough its even off limits to the National Enquirer. Private enough that you take your pants off and relieve yourself.)

The Gay rights lobby needs to come to agreement on whether or not they are in the business of outing closeted homosexuals, otherwise, Craig himself was the victim of hypocrisy.

And was Larry Craig a closeted homosexual? No straight man I know would’ve plead to those charges.

Wait a minute, wait a minute, hold on.

    George Michael is GAY?!

Not acording to Joe Biden. Up to this point I’m an uber-patriot!

Well considering the millions they got paid for simply posing for a People magazine cover, and the millions they shell out jet-setting around the world..not to mention that 100,000 is less than even what they pay to live in their fancy chateau..well, i’d say $100,000 bucks is pretty much just pocket change, and a little something to keep them in the news and make them look like honest, decent, liberal people. I mean, if you are so intent on the right to marry that you refuse to even marry yourself until all marriage is equal in the eyes of this country, then wouldn’t donating more than 100 grand possibly be more appropriate? Like maybe donating time and effort to the cause instead of just throwing out a lowly amount that’s a joke to you? C’mon, Brad!

Robert DeNiro keeps on getting into trouble, good candidate for Deceiver of the year.

DeNiro campaigns (2:30 of video) about “leaving millions of our friends and neighbors in poverty.. …families denied basic medical care and decent education…”

I suspect he could never do enough to gain Dayna’s approval.

It’s a nice gesture on his part. Comedy gets a pretty big pass from me on most issues…as long as it’s FUNNY.

Brad’s just sucking up to half of his fan base.

  15. 15 Mickey Blue Eyes Sep 19th, 2008 at 3:43 pm

I was kinda wondering about that. Brad Bitt and his baby-momma Angelina have been popping out bastard babies and said they will not marry until everyone can marry. Well, now the gays can marry so what’s the hold-up?

Maybe when Brad said “everyone” he didn’t mean JUST the gays, but also pedophiles, beastialiphiles (sp?), necrophiles, and every other sexual perversion one can think of?

Maybe only when a man can marry a toddler, a goat, and a corpse, will he make Angelina an honest woman?

  16. 16 May Sep 19th, 2008 at 7:26 pm

Nice, Mickey, comparing gay people to pedophiles. Yeah, it’s TOTALLY the same thing! One is about mutual desire and sometimes even love between two consenting adults, and the other is about raping little kids and messing them up for life. Great comparison.

Whatever – I commend Brad Pitt for donating money to cause that needs support, and as for that sketch, it was meant to be humorous, it wasn’t disparaging to homosexual people. Besides, he mocked a man who is a hypocrite, and who blocked legislation to give equal rights to all people – the fact that he’s actually gay himself only makes his decisions and votes that much ridiculous. Love is love, and if it’s against your religion, then fine! Don’t marry someone who’s of the same sex as you! But why should your moral and religious views get in the way of somebody else’s happiness? Separation of church and state indeed. I fail to see how his donation via this old sketch he played in lands Brad a spot on deceiver. There are bigger hypocrites than a man who gave a considerable amount of money to a good cause.

  17. 17 Poor & Destitute Sep 19th, 2008 at 10:38 pm

I think Brad & Angelina should instead pledge not to fly private jet, or first class, or stay in penthouses in fancy motels until the rest of us are allowed to. Or how about not eating fine dining until hunger is abolished.

Oh wait, you just won’t get married since it is so sacred to you anyway (how did your previous marriages work out?)…..

    Love the logic Hollywood has….

  18. 18 johnna Sep 24th, 2008 at 4:20 am

i definitely think this post is a stretch. it’s just a stupid skit they did. plus, the reason larry craig was so persecuted was not because he was a “bad-behaving” gay, but that he had supported so much legislation against the gays…and turned out being one.

and i happened to like fight club, burn after reading, troy, se7en, and true romance. i don’t think he’s that poor of an actor.
