Ellen DeGeneres Is Against Animal Cruelty … Sometimes

Ellen DeGeneres headlined an event in California over the weekend to promote legislation that would make all chicken farms in California become cage free.

Ellen, who appears to be going down the vegan route, has been a vocal proponent for Proposition 2, which is up for vote in November.

Which makes her newly minted status as a CoverGirl spokesperson all the more inexplicable. You see, CoverGirl is one of the largest cosmetics brands that still tests on animals. Something maybe she should have researched before endorsing those checks for the ad campaign, which debuts in January:

She says she’s “very, very excited” about the new gig.

She adds, “It’s a very cool thing I’m honored and the photo shoot was ‘easy, breezy, beautiful CoverGirl.’”

Cruelty to barnyard animals is bad, says Ellen. But testing mascara on rabbits is AOK because she’s getting paid mad bank to shill it. Everyone up to speed now?

    THANK YOU AND WELL SAID.

Ellen is a Pig in lipstick - cheap lipstick at that.

She has made hypocrisy and art form, and quite frankly has mastered it. At one time I would have considered myself to be a big fan, however now she disgusts me.

Well done Ellen - now you’re not only a lesbian crackpot you’re an insanely stupid bitch who jumps onto movement bandwagons with no clue what you’re doing or what they’re about - OR passion involved to really give a .
    Idiot.

  3. 3 Pastafarian Sep 29th, 2008 at 10:28 pm

    Is she a lesbian?

I think her being on earth is cruelty to humans let alone animals….

DBKP has one of the creepiest videos of all time.

Two Swedish women high on drugs commit suicide by truck on camera, rise from the dead, and do it again.

Because her success continues to be unaffected by her lack of integrity I consider her to be a toxic force in our society. As future generations look to achieve the “American Dream” they will see less integrity = more wealth. Good for you Ellen! You’re a venomous imbecile.

I think that it depends on the animal. Obviously, she likes chickens more than she does bunnies because those bunnies are helping her make extra cash. Funny, usually these hypocrites go for saving the cute ones…

  10. 10 Hurricane Sep 30th, 2008 at 10:47 am

She eats tuna every night. Why the surprise about this?

  11. 11 Jrod Sep 30th, 2008 at 10:52 am

    I’d Hit it.

I heard she “rescues” puppies from animal shelters, and later when she gets home she chases them around her mansion with a pitchfork screaming, “git in mah belly!”

Honestly, how evil can people be?

This is almost as funny as when Cybill Shepherd (she was the shrew on Moonlighting. You guys can do a wiki search if you are too young to remember her) a very vocal vegetarian, signed on to do beef ads in the mid 80’s.

Elizabeth Edwards is still a public figure, actively campaigning for Barack Obama… by attacking John McCain.

Elizabeth Edwards is speaking Wednesday, October 1, 2008 in Carrboro, NJ at the “The Center for American Progress Action Fund”.

That group is alleged by Politico and the Washington Post to be a thinly disgused, renamed version of a left wing machine Progressive Media, LLC, which disbanded after it was strongly denounced by Barack Obama.

So what does the AP say the content of Elizabeth Edwards will focus on?

A critique of John McCain’s Healthcare plan.

What difference does it make if the chicken ends up in your three-piece meal anyway?

You can buy free range chickens on the market if you so desire, but guess what? They’re more expensive! If Prop 2 passes, chicken from California will be more expensive. That screws California farmers and the consumers. Who really gets the shaft? The poor!

  16. 16 D--- Sep 30th, 2008 at 3:16 pm

I love the term free range chickens…I have 6 chickens myself and I guess they are technically ‘free range’ but their eggs are a little smaller and they do not lay with good consistency (at least from a business perspective). I know people who swear their egss are better for you which makes me laugh cause you have no idea what a chicken will eat

They will eat bugs, scorpions, dog crap, their own eggs and even cooked chicken!

  17. 17 D--- Sep 30th, 2008 at 3:22 pm

StrawberryGirl (are you from Ventura/Oxnard/Camarillo?) - How heartless can you be? Those chickens deserve a life of luxury and tanquility before we chop them up into little pieces and devour their tasty little innards!

  18. 18 Aleric Sep 30th, 2008 at 5:48 pm

I find it Ironic she hid her Lesbianism all those years and now is a denouncer of hypocrites.

  19. 19 amanda Sep 30th, 2008 at 6:12 pm

um, isn’t she an opponent of prop 2? i thought prop 2 was all “gay marriage is bad.” maybe not in those exact words.

  20. 20 amanda Sep 30th, 2008 at 6:14 pm

whoops! the gay marriage thing must be another prop. i guess she’s active

WHY is PETA giving Sarah Palin a pass?????????// my goodness she has a bear skin rug…….how disgusting………….

  22. 22 Pastafarian Sep 30th, 2008 at 8:11 pm

Ooooh! A bear skin rug huh? Are you thinking what I’m thinking?

    Probably not.

  23. 23 Scott F. Sep 30th, 2008 at 8:50 pm

Lanette, with all due respect, you’re a moron on TWO different fronts.

    1. PETA did call Palin on the ‘cruelty to animals’ stuff. They showed pictures of her kneeling next to a dead moose with her son, and the pics of her office. Next time spend two seconds googling something before you make yourself look like a moron.

    2. With the exception of a few California nutjobs, I would wager that EVERY member of both the House and the Senate has some form of dead animal product in their office. Animal heads mounted on the wall, skins on the furniture (fur or leather), hell - I’ve even seen fish mounted! Granted, most of the time they’re probably gifts from a hunter’s lodge or something rather than being an animal they killed themselves (which in Palin’s case is very likely).

Really, you animal rights folks need to realize that outside of the coasts there is a whole country of people who grew up hunting and fishing - and it doesn’t bother us one bit.

  24. 24 Samantha Sep 30th, 2008 at 9:55 pm

This world is plagued by idiots and cons!

Does this surprise anyone? A little less than a year ago Ellen was crossing picket lines. Remember? In the same breath that she said she supported her writers she delivered a monolog (that she said was not a monolog because she was not standing on her stage???) WHAT?? Can you say hypocrite and liar??!?! And all the idiots are clapping and cheering her on??!?! WHAT? WHAT? Don’t get me started!

Ellen is so morally reprehensible and the biggest con out there. The fact that she has a following of fans shows me that, even in 2008, we are not immune to another Hitler rising. People are just that stupid and ignorant. So much for progress.

  25. 25 Celetina Oct 1st, 2008 at 12:22 am

“The fact that she has a following of fans shows me that, even in 2008, we are not immune to another Hitler rising”

When I see Ellen DeGeneres doing those hideous dances and watching her fans (horribly) copy her every ridiculous move, the first thing that comes to my mind is Hitler. Hmmm, Ellen DeHitleres. ITS EVERY GUN LOVER FOR HIMSELF!!!!!!

  26. 26 StrawberryGirl Oct 1st, 2008 at 12:31 am

D—, I’m in San Diego. Not exactly SoCal’s breadbasket but I understand a little about economics ;).

  27. 27 katie Oct 1st, 2008 at 3:15 am

yeah i thought about covergirl testing on animals when she signed on to be their new spokesperson. i wasn’t sure if covergirl tested or not still but sadly i guess they do. too bad ellen didn’t look into that because she looks foolish now!

  28. 28 TeddyBear Oct 1st, 2008 at 7:20 pm

    @ Scott F

I believe it was a caribou not a moose.

Amanda, you’re thinking of Prop 8.

  30. 30 Eve Oct 2nd, 2008 at 7:54 pm

Samantha, I think you are on a slippery slope to a reductio ad Hitlerum here… (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hitlerum)

  31. 31 Edie Oct 3rd, 2008 at 3:24 pm

Hey Deceiver–what about the real vegetarians, like Drew Barrymore. I have been trying to contact her camp for weeks about the fact that she signed on with one of the largest animal testing facilities ever when she started doing the Cover Girl ads–is no one paying attention to anything anymore??

  32. 32 Proud Vegetarian Nov 1st, 2008 at 4:27 pm

Has anyone considered that contractual negotiations take months and sometimes years to do? She could’ve made the CoverGirl deal wayyyy before seeing the vegan light.

  33. 33 Simon Scowl Nov 2nd, 2008 at 12:01 pm

She could also be an alien shapeshifter who’s taken the place of the real Ellen DeGeneres. Ever think of that, hmmmmmm?
