Leonardo DiCaprio’s Hard Time Keeping His Interviews Straight

Leonardo DiCaprio is giving a bunch of interviews in advance of the release of Body of Lies (tagline: “Trust no one. Deceive everyone.”). Something he seems to be taking to heart.

To Parade magazine, he shows a softer side befitting the readership of, say, Parade magazine. He talks about how much he misses his grandmother and how he isn’t cynical about life. He also talks about his desire to start a family:

In the past, Leonardo has refused to discuss his romantic relationships, explaining that he has “few emotions,” has “never been in love,” and “does not believe in marriage.”

I ask if he still believes what he once said.

“No, I don’t agree with any of that,” he replies. “It sounds like the ignorance of youth to me. When did I say that? Three or four years ago? Hey, we grow up real fast.

“What I definitely feel a need for is to make my life about more than just my career,” he continues. “Just last night I was thinking to myself how little of my life has been lived normally and not spent on some far-off movie location. I want to get married and have children. In saying that, I realize I am contradicting everything I’ve said before. I absolutely believe in marriage.”

So there’s a bit of irony in the Associated Press running an interview the very next day with the headline “DiCaprio: I’m not ready to settle down.”

The 33-year-old actor, who has an on-and-off relationship with Israeli model Bar Refaeli, says he has no plans at the moment to settle down and start a family.

Says DiCaprio: “Ah, how do you answer something like that? … I am being asked to look in the future I suppose quickly. No, I don’t have any plan.”

Keep it straight, buster. Either you’re a playboy who dates supermodels or you’re not. I’m not sure anyone would fault you for remaining the former though.

Ashton and Demi Want You to Vote (for Obama)

Superstar marrieds Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore are in the middle of a little tour of Iowa, that swing state with so many universities. Supposedly they’re doing a Rock the Vote type of appearance, just lending their star power to encourage college students to register to vote before the election.

Except then the couple put out this lame MySpace video, again telling people to vote … but this time, specifically for Obama.

I think if you’re going to be at all effective in registering more young people to vote, you have to be nonpartisan about it. You’re just losing credibility when you pretend like it’s important that all young people register and make their voices heard, and then you later come out and it’s clear you only care about one party’s members in particular.

Plus I still hate Ashton Kutcher for putting trucker hats on the map. Yes, I am a champion grudge holder.
