Kim Cattrall Accepts £1m Harrods Offer After Leona Lewis Declined

Leona Lewis, the singer voted PETA’s Sexiest Vegetarian this year, turned down a £1-million offer to open the sale season at Harrods, the famed U.K. department store that sells luxury goods — including fur.

A staunch vegetarian since the age of 12, the Bleeding Love singer stuck to her principles and turned the lucrative offer down, the job going instead to 52-year-old Sex And The City star Kim Cattrall.

Lewis, who was this year voted animal rights campaign Peta’s World’s Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity, said: ‘I’m totally against animal cruelty.

‘I don’t have clothes, shoes or bags made from any animal products.’

We’ve questioned whether Leona really lives up to that pledge in the past, but the move seems calculated to position her as true to her word and we can’t fault her for that. (And it won’t hurt her upcoming vegan clothing line at Topshop either.)

Odd then that Kim Cattrall, another PETA activist, jumped at the opportunity.

The honor includes a parade in a horse and carriage and a private tour of all the luxury goods the store has to offer. Kim must be feeling pretty dumb right now. Maybe to atone, she can hire some naked PETA protestors to replace the horse and pull her around Knightsbridge instead.

Oh GOD no. Please don’t disrobe the PETA protestors. Have you seen most of them?

Maybe PETA needs to do something like Algore and the environmental wackos do and sell “animal credits” ala “carbon credits”? That way, Kim Cattral can open a Herrods if she pays a nominal amount to a mink preserve or something like that? Or buy a couple fur coats to send to a sheep herder in some third world country? Kind of like the Catholic Church selling indulgences.

    Carcass credits!

Kim would rather go naked than wear fur for no less than $2 million.

Well $2mil should buy lots of carcass credits

she’s a pretty big girl for a vegan…lots of calories are coming from something…and do my little eyes spy implants in this photo? wouldn’t implants be considered non-peta type behavior?
    just wondering…

You have to have a pretty strong belief system to turn down 1,000,000 in any money. My belief system on the other hand allows me to do unspeakable things for even half that.
