Without knowing very much about the Lindsay & her sister’s relationship with their paternal grandfather, I would only offer this up: I didn’t attend my maternal grandfather’s funeral. I met the man once when I was 5, and three times when I was 18 – I didn’t know the man & I called him by his first name.

Of course I’m not famous, but if I were and you wanted to rrrrreally make me look bad, you probably could by flouting whatever activity I happened to be doing during his funeral.

My point is you don’t know the whole story. I’d bet the dad reported all of this to a magazine KNOWING that the children wouldn’t be there, to make them look bad (or to make the mom look bad).

If there wasnt evidence right in front of my face that there were people in the world this self serving and emotionally dead, I wouldnt believe it. Regardless of the circumstances, your family is your family. If you have the means to go, you should go.

Although I’m fairly certain their grandfather was pretty ashamed of them anyway so it might have been more respectful to not come. I mean if your grandchildren were Lindsay and Ali Lohan, would you want them to be there?

Did they have something against their grandfather? Was it a previous loving relationship or an abusive or distant relationship? They should have gone because it might come back and haunt them one day.

There’s also respect for self. If my grandfather beat the living daylights out of my father, I wouldn’t be at his funeral – and if I did show up, it would be to spit on his corpse.

Are the Lohans vile? Yep. Is there the possibility that this grandfather was a terrible human being that even Dina, aka awful mother, didn’t want her spoiled brat daughters to see, even in death. Yep.

Could Dina be an awful human being that has raised awful daugthers that couldn’t take time out of their stupid schedules to pay some last respects, you betcha.

Whatever – I’m not saying your father and uncle didn’t have respect for themselves but your example of your grandfather is a perfect example of not showing up to a funeral and your father and uncle shouldn’t have felt obligated to see him. Great that they did, but they didn’t have to (in my opinion).

Sometimes family members suck (and are monsters) and I’m just saying there’s a possibility that Grandpappy Lohan was an awful man. And yes, an equal possibility that Dina Lohan should be crowned Queen Satan.

My grandfather beat the sh*t out of my dad every goddamn day of his life. He has a four inch scar from getting hit for talking at the dinner table. At the age of 4 and 6 he dumped my dad and uncle in an orphange because they were too costly. They still went to his funeral. Like D– says, it’s called showing class and maturity. It’s not about their father, it’s about their grandfather, without him none of those ungrateful prick lohan brats would be here enjoying their lives.

I missed the funerals for most of my grandparents but that was due to distance (two were in another country) and the fact my relatives wanted the services over quick. Still, the Lohans have the money and the means to go, but they chose not to. If Gramps was a nasty old man who hated them, that would be one thing but somehow I doubt it. They all suck.

If both grandparents are dead, the only reason to show up at the funeral would be to pay your respect to Michael Lohan. So, looking at it like that, would YOU show up?

You can not care for your grandparents and still show up at the funeral. It’s called showing a little class, maturity and respect (after all if it weren’t for them old peeps we wouldn’t be here)

Unless you are talking about hating the man because he molestated her when she was little (hm, could explaing a lot…), then I can understand
