In Hollywood as in Washington, spite and malice are more than just a card game. And Alec Baldwin has had enough. (*Giggle*)
Here’s the great peacemaker of 30 Rock last night on Letterman talking about the upcoming election:
“If John McBush and Bible Spice win, we have to find a way to come together as a country, because we can’t let it be the way it’s been the last 8 years where there’s been this acrimony and this bitterness. We have to find a way somehow to do that.”
Acrimony and bitterness? It’s a good thing calling people infantile names doesn’t count. Imagine the media crap-storm that would arise if Alec’s brother Stephen (an ardent right-winger) had called a certain presidential candidate “Commie OMuslim.”
Okay … “Bible Spice” was clever. I’ll give him that.
But Alec Baldwin is the last guy who should be lecturing America about avoiding acrimony and bitterness. Just ask his daughter.
The big Democrat donor says he may run for office himself someday. So Baldwin’s recent rant that “This Congress is a disgrace, Democrat and Republican” seems like ill-timed acrimony and bitterness to me. Politicians tend to feign amnesia about how they voted on things and which promises they broke, but this is the sort of stuff they remember.

Alec Baldwin’s just jealous because Bible Spice stole the show.
Obama went to church “twice a year” for twenty years. And His preacher thinks the government invented AIDS, and did everything but wear a tin foil hat while preaching. How come no celebrities make fun of Him for that? Oh that’s right. Because it’s Obama. So why the childish Bible Spice? That’s the best he could come up with? C’mon Alec you had all these months and that’s the best you had? Bible Spice, John McBush? What happened to McBu$hCheneyRoveStalinHitler?
It’s just to piss off these sub-morons that I hope McCain wins. And the worst, most delusional part of it is he (Alec Baldwin) thinks he’s 10 times smarter than you. Not me though. No one is smarter than me. Nobody listened to celebrities during the last election, why in the world do they think anyone is listening now?
I’m sorry I meant twice a week.
If Obama wins is eveyone going to gather around and sing campfire songs?
I know if Obama does win the Hollywood crowd will pat themselves on the back for their contribution to society and the next election they will be blabbering their nonsense even more.
Does anyone take Alec Baldwin seriously? Isn’t he not supposed to be in this country anymore?
He was good in “The Cooler” though.
Why does it seem like everybody on 30 rock feel like we are all interested in what they have to say? First of all, the only reason I think the show is funny is Jack Mcbrayer’s character. Kenneth is hilarious. Alec Baldwin is a pathetic asshole. BOO. I’ll weep a lot harder for America if this stupid arrogant shit is elected for anything other than mayor mccheese.
Hopefully Minnesota will bitchslap Stuart Smalley.
That might dissuade any more of Lorne Michaels’ favorite stars from seeking higher office.

John McBush and Bible Spice? I guess it’s better than “rude pig”.
Lovely – one day, he’s saying how nice Palin was to work with on SNL, the next she’s “Bible Spice.”
Just another way that Hollywood is different than the rest of the US – “loyalty” is a four-letter-word, and stabbing people in the back is considered a quick path to success.
I think Alec needs to spend some quality time with his brother Stephen who has found there is more to life than ME ME ME ME ME…
Now, is he going to apologize to his daughter for all the crap he said? And, I’m suprised he didn’t blame the country’s problems on his ex-wife.
Right, great post! And these peace-words are coming from the guy who yelled and spittled on a late night talk show that everyone should go to some (I forget which one) politician’s house and stone him to death. Geezlooweez. The really scary thing is that audiences clap when this guy says things like that.
I need to know something. And preferably before Alec Baldwin runs for office, too.
WAS ELECTING ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER AS GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA A JOKE?
ARE WE, THE REST OF THE WORLD, BEING PUNK’D?
No. And he seems to be doing okay but I don’t live in California.
I intend to vote for Obama/Biden in spite of Alex Baldwin’s ignorance.
Great post, but don’t even give this asshole credit for coming up with “Bible Spice”. I’ve seen it used on numerous blogs.
I did like Arnolds comments last night whe he called Obombya Scrawny He suggested that Barry should do some squats and work on his arms some. I was laughing so hard I almost fell off my tread mill.
I have very little desire to vote for Obama because I mistrust him (the same way I mistrusted Clinton when I had the chance to vote for him), but I’m a little sick of the way everyone makes fun of or gets outraged about Reverend Wright when apparently nobody has bothered looking into this guy independently and therefore has no idea what kind of person he is.
There’s a reason people think the government invented HIV. The government has in the past displayed an almost eager willingness to experiment on minorities and make them sick, as in the experiments on black men that infected them with syphilis just to see what would happen. And I bet some of you out there still think there’s a lot of HIV infection in Africa because Africans are “inferior” in some way, so don’t bother saying we’ve grown up as a nation since then, because we damn sure haven’t.
But I went and looked up the context of Wright’s “God damn America” remarks. Yep. He wasn’t saying, “God will destroy America because of the pagans and the abortionists and the feminists and the gays” like Falwell said, or that God would send hurricanes to destroy Florida because of Disney’s Gay Day like Robertson said. Instead, Wright spoke to specific crimes America has committed both against other countries and its own people.

Now… I’m white. I have also been paying attention. I don’t agree with every single thing Wright says, but I don’t agree with every single thing ANYBODY says. But the only reason I don’t believe the U.S. government developed HIV is I don’t think we had the technology to do it. I love my country, but I sure don’t love some of the things it does–we have not been living up to our potential, and we have consciously chosen not to do so, and I don’t know how to make it better. So I don’t blame Wright for being angry.
By the way, Wright ministers to members of his congregation who are sick with AIDS when their own families have abandoned them. Can Fartwell and ROBert$on say the same? Oh wait–one’s dead, and one’s a fossil, and both are/were too busy building hate empires to actually follow Jesus’s example. Oopsie. My bad.
Anyway, I don’t think Obama actually gave a about Wright. I think he only went to Wright’s church for the street cred. As evidenced by the way he dropped Wright like a hot potato when it became politically expedient to do so.
“crimes America has committed both against other countries and its own people.”
I hate giving this kind of simplistic ridiculous response, but I really can’t think of an easier way to handle somebody’s idea that America is a bad place…

It’s really easy to just go. $1200. Hell I’ll give you the money. I hear Bombay is nice this time of year.
Anyone else find it amusing that the people constantly bitching about “peace” and “unity” are the most abrasive with their beliefs or in general, or is it just me?
Isn’t the word “distrust”, not “mistrust”?
