I read this commentary on Crazy Days and Nights and immediately thought of you:
“The Washington Post was covering a speech that Elizabeth Edwards gave Monday night and she was not wearing her wedding ring for the first time ever that anyone could remember. You would think John would have been the best husband in the whole world after all the recent revelations. Nope. Guess again. Instead of spending time with the woman he has been with forever he has instead been spending a great deal of time with Rielle Hunter and her child. His child? I don’t know. Guess if he grows up with a twang and a penchant for cheating we will know it is his.
So, not only do you abandon your terminally ill wife, but you go back to the woman that caused all the trouble in the first place? You would rather hang out with Rielle than your dying wife? Does John Edwards even have anyone who wants to be with him? I mean friends? Would you be his friend? I think he is disgusting and to turn your back on your family to be with someone as awful as Rielle Hunter automatically earns you the a-hole of the year.”

I originally came to this blog for the story about Edwards. I keep coming back because the writing just kills me. I’ve never even heard of half the people you blog about and it still cracks me up. Thanks for doing what you do.

With such excellent bullsh*t detection and writing skills, it’s hard to believe you guys are working journalists.

Once more for the folks at home.

Baby, and BabyDaddy side by side.

“That baby don’t even look like me!” – John Edwards

DALLAS — Frederick Baron, a prominent Democratic fundraiser and wealthy Texas trial lawyer who built a fortune representing thousands in asbestos exposure litigation, died Thursday. He was 61.

Baron, whose link to the John Edwards mistress scandal put him in a sudden national spotlight this summer, died following complications of cancer, said Harrison Hickman, a family spokesman.

“Funeral services were expected to be held Monday in Dallas.”

Will John Edwards make his first public appearance after separating from his wife?

Will Barack Obama also be there?

Sad, sad, sad. This man has to be the most narcissistic bastard ever. I mean since time began. He couldn’t even FAKE it for what little time she has left (I’m assuming here, I sincerely hope it’s not “little”). Stomach turning.

Fred Baron’s funeral spokesman was John Edwards campaign strategist:

“Baron… died following complications of cancer, said Harrison Hickman, a family spokesman.”

If I were dying, I wouldn’t waste my precious time with someone that would cheat on me. Good for Elizabeth!

You know, sometimes the good Lord works in mysterious ways.

But other times, it’s not really mysterious at all.

    Edwards is a tool.

  12. 12 Dr Fager Oct 31st, 2008 at 12:56 pm

My condolences to the Baron family, but who is paying Rielle’s monthly bills now that Fred Baron has passed?

  13. 13 Peg Nov 1st, 2008 at 8:16 am

    DrFager: (above me)

Wow! Thanks for pointing that out! Baron was supposedly the one who was paying Rielle’s expenses out of his own pocket. (And not from campaign funds, right?) What will the poor girl do now that he’s gone?

So I was duped. I gave money to his mistress, er, I mean his campaign.

I hope both of these women clean his financial clock.

I imagine John Edwards is showing up alone just about everywhere these days.

Standing by for DNA confirmation. John Edwards could have been reached for comment, but he’s such a monumental douchebag no one was willing to communicate with him.

  18. 18 Snoop-Diggity-DANG-Dawg Nov 5th, 2008 at 4:15 pm

Rielle Hunter originally refuses to submit to a DNA test. But then her meal ticket, Fred Baron, died unexpectedly. Five days later we’re hearing RUMINT about DNA results.

    Coincidence? Ur doin it rong!

This really feels like a stoning of an individual caught in adultery. All I can say is that although John Edwards sinned/cheated/whatever you may call it, he fell, he made a selfish choice. He did not think about the consequences, and boy were there consequences. Perhaps this character, Riele, played him for a potentially powerful yet evidently vulnerable man and used that to her advantage as evidenced in their one-on-one “confidential” interviews that she videotaped herself. She certainly knew what she was doing. He came across as being sincerely flattered by her and responded. This kind of thing is forgivable, if someone is sorry and wants to rebuild on the more solid, loving relationship they used to cherish. But, someone has to care first. It takes two parties to forgive and move on. I think we hurt more for Elizabeth, but I believe that John will ultimately feel that pain more than anyone. Eventually. He’s still a good advocate for the poor. If this happened in France or Italy it would not have cause as much fuss. We are made of human stuff and the players in this are no different.
