Sarah Palin’s Campaign Trail Blazer: Where Did She Get It?

Sarah Palin was back on the campaign trail this week, stumping for Sen. Saxby Chambliss who won the run-off yesterday to keep his Senate seat in Georgia. She appeared at the rally wearing an oyster-colored blazer that she was photographed in repeatedly during the presidential race.

HuffPo wonders whether this was one of the designer pieces — purchased with $150,000 of the RNC’s cash — that were supposed to be donated to charity after the election, which would make her a pretty big hypocrite.

But to be frank with you guys, I have no idea who makes the blazer or when she bought it, and I haven’t seen anyone else identify the designer either. It looks like Escada or Oscar de la Renta but I’m not familiar enough with their lines to know if it came from a recent collection or if it’s something she might have purchased at her favorite consignment store.

However, there was never really a follow-up to confirm that the wardrobe made it to charity. For what was a huge story in October, that is pretty unusual, and you’d think that her handlers would be pushing photos of La Palin stuffing those clothes into a Goodwill bin the minute she left the parking lot. I, for one, would love to know if she really followed through and what happened to many of those designer outfits that were “lost,” as Newsweek reported last month.

Shilling for the deranged idiots at HuffPo?

    Pathetic.

Has it really come down to this? Slow news day?

Hypocrites are where you find them.

  4. 4 Pastafarian Dec 3rd, 2008 at 11:44 am

By the way. She should get rid of it just cuz it’s ugly.

  5. 5 Nanners Dec 3rd, 2008 at 11:48 am

Palin doesn’t have handlers anymore. The turkey fiasco wouldn’t have happened if someone was keeping an eye on her.

I love follow-ups. Keep it up Miss Won’t. Maybe she liked it so much she bought it. I once rented a Corvette and liked it so much I burned the rental place down so they wouldn’t have a any record of who had it. So now I have a Corvette and an arson charge. 2 for 1! :D

I’m thinking that this is a pre-DC days purchase:

First: the HuffPo link shows the jacket as early as 8/31. I’ll bet the campaign hadn’t yet settled on her staff much less got around to doing makeover spending at that point.

Second: this jacket hasn’t been properly tailored. Her campaign staff would look for pieces which she could raise her arms to wave without looking like Quasimodo.

Keep her feet to the fire though Holly; if she said she’d donate the stuff, she darn well better do it.

The “turkey fiasco” wouldn’t have been considered a fiasco if it had been, say, Biden.

Perhaps Palin’s campaign wardrobe season got extended given the runoff race in Georgia?

My guess is that the RNC will do a big publicity thing and have La Palin donate the clothes before the end of the year. For tax purposes and all.

And I’m gonna show my nitpicky girly side and say that the blazer isn’t really oyster – it’s more of a cream color.

Doesn’t Palin have a job, like, in Alaska?

  15. 15 Holly Won't Dec 3rd, 2008 at 5:29 pm

You can pick my nits, MC Mom. To be honest, in the photo I used it appears gold. I originally was going with this one:

    Palin's blazer

    Maybe it’s shiny.

  16. 16 Pastafarian Dec 3rd, 2008 at 5:30 pm

Thats true PJ. In fact I was saying the same thing about Obama when he was a senator here. But He couldn’t be bothered. I guess he figured he had other plans.

Yeah, she’s the first politician in national history to, like, campaign outside her own state.

The clothes were never hers to begin with so they weren’t hers to give away. I think that might be Jaqueline Smith, who’s quite a hot brunette in her own right if you ask me. I would put a black-light on it and check for turkey spatter pattern though.

i LOVE how the people at deceiver always give the tip links when people say things like “boring story” or whatever, haha anyway i agree with you pasta, its so ugly just give it away. speaking of, i wish sarah palin would just go away. GOD please!

  20. 20 Valerie Dec 4th, 2008 at 6:13 am

Ya’ll, she had some good clothes before, you know. Like, you know, for her little unimportant job she has up there in Alaska. And I read very early on after her addition to the ticket that she often bought second-hand designer duds up there in Alaska. I think it’ nice to see a Republican politician looking modernish and pretty. Not all done up in solids like Dem hillary’s horrible pantsuits.

  21. 21 Chucklhead05 Dec 4th, 2008 at 7:00 am

I guess it is just me, but, while I think that 150K for clothes is ridiculous, 700Million for the Capitol visitor center is OUTRAGEOUS! Espicially since it was originally to be built for, I think 60 Million. And NO ONE is bringing up the cost overruns. Ahhh, ya got to love the government…

That woman is a moron. I defended her with the turkey and Oprah thing because fair is fair, but this is a bit much.

    That woman is a moron.

What, the blazer isn’t her color? Or are you falling for this completely media-concocted “scandal”?

  26. 26 Chronic Malanga Dec 5th, 2008 at 3:58 am

Naw, Simon, it’s not the blazer not being her color, though she looks much better in navy. I just don’t like her. :P

I think this is the first time in modern history that the MSM or their myrmidons followed up when someone claimed to donate something to charity. When a Liberal or Friend of Liberal celebrity promises to donate something to charity, there is NEVER a follow-up. But when a non-Liberal make a similar promise, the MSM and HuffPo are on it like ants on ice cream.

I think we should be praising Sarah Palin for recycling the jacket. Unlike other celebrity divas who wear an outfit once and never wear it again, she’s wearing the same jacket at multiple occasions. Good on ya, Sarah!
