No More Private Jets for Rielle Hunter?

Remember her? The woman who had the illegitimate kid with the guy who was running for president? Conceived while he was running for president? Behind the back of his cancer-stricken wife? But the entire mainstream media ignored it for weeks on end because it might mess up Obama’s prospects Edwards wasn’t running for president anymore? I had one or two or 50 posts about that whole mess last summer.

Last we’d heard, Rielle and the baby were living a quiet life in some rented mansion or another. But now she’s popped up again. The following is from the National Enquirer, so take it with a grain of salt as large as you find necessary:

After her $15,000 monthly payments stopped with the death of money man Fred Baron, John Edward’s mistress blonde divorcee Rielle Hunter abandoned the lavish $3 million home that was being rented for her in ritzy Santa Barbara, California, sources tell The ENQUIRER.

Now she and her 10-month-old daughter Frances, who she privately says is Edwards’ love child, are living with her longtime friend Mimi Hockman in South Orange [NJ], about 20 miles west of New York City, according to insiders…

Edwards says he did not father Rielle’s baby, but she has privately confided that Edwards is the father.

Fred Baron, a wealthy Dallas ex-trial lawyer and former national finance chairman for Edwards’ failed presidential campaign, later admitted to paying Rielle’s bills. But after he died on Oct. 30 from cancer complications, the payments stopped.

For the rest, you’ll need to… can you guess? Pick up the Enquirer! Well, they’ve been right about this story so far.

If Rielle had struck while the iron was hot, she might have been able to score a TV-movie consulting deal or something, maybe a quickie reality show or a ghost-written book. But at this late date? After the election’s over and there’s no reason to keep her in hiding anymore? Kinda takes away all the intrigue. Now that she’s no longer a kept woman, she might have to actually get… oh my gosh… a job.

Hey, maybe she and Mimi can start up Midline Groove Productions again. You remember, the phony production company they set up so Rielle could travel with Edwards under the guise of “videographer.” Did somebody get the rights to their URL when they took the site down in a pathetic attempt to cover their tracks? I sure hope not.

Or maybe John Edwards will do the right thing and acknowledge her and their child. LOL, just kidding!

Rielle had better strike while the iron is hot if she wants to maximize her advance check and star power.

She is rapidly becoming a footnote in history versus the mainstream figure she could have been had her PR person handled this properly.

Good for her on the whole not seeking fame thing. I wish Elliot Spitzer’s whore would learn from her.

Certainly true. But there’s ‘hunger’ in her future, whether she realizes it or not. And when people get hungry (really hungry) they’ll do damn near anything.

I don’t think we’ve heard the last from Rielle Hunter.

Over from Dlisted for a peek. You’ve been added.
As for this broad…there’s no more dangerous a female walking the planet than a media savvy baby momma. She’ll get them stax one way or another.Ol’ Johnny boy is gonna have to dust off that law license and get back to work.

Will she now expect baby daddy Edwards to start paying child support? If he doesn’t any bets that she change her mind about the paternity test?

I’d tend to agree with the idea that RH’s hopes for a lifetime of cashflow are not dashed just yet, if it really is his baby. I think that she might still have a few cards left to play for getting the support for when it’s finally fully proved (via DNA probably). She’ll get it under or over the table, with or without public admission, whichever the case may be. But, I could be wrong. :o )

Wait, Fortunate Son, I’m confused. If she had cashed in while the cashing was good, Ms. Hunter could be a “mainstream figure” like…who? Monica Lewinsky? Donna Rice? All the other cheesy ho-bags who’ve slept with politicians?

Not much to aspire to, but I guess it’s better than living in New Jersey with your friend after being booted from a Cali mansion…

Rocko – I was wondering that myself….it reads “tutela valui”
From what I read this poorly done latin

‘Tutela’ means a ‘custodian, safeguard, defense’
‘Valui’ means ‘I was strong,’ literally

There have been debates as to what is the best way to translate it but the one I think is awesome is
    ‘I used protection’

Hey, what happened to the doody diaper and the paternity test? (Gosh, sounds like a name for a freaking awful young adult book.)

  13. 13 Fortunate Son Dec 20th, 2008 at 9:28 pm

Is Andrew Young a deadbeat dad, living in his multi-million dollar dreamhouse while Rielle Hunter is forced to live off the charity of old friends?

Or is real dad My Pretty Pony (John Edwards) forcing Rielle to adopt a false front of poverty, driving around a battered Volkswagen Jetta (per the NE print edition)?

Why whould someone with an international reputation and a promising career in Hollywood put up with this? Rielle Hunter busted her ass in Hollywood for more than ten years, getting bit parts on gameshows and movies, all the while pounding the pavement to sell production ideas.

Now she’s penniless and hiding out, though she’s committed no crime? Will her baby be forced to lead the same life on the run, hiding out, changing cities and schools every three months?

Doesn’t seem fair. Seems like John Edwards killed his career and Rielle Hunter’s hopes and dreams all in one fell swoop.

John Edwards needs to be a man and “FREE RIELLE HUNTER!”

The whole world knows he’s the father. Until he admits it, he looks like the world’s biggest liar.

“I believe [Hillary Clinton] would have won Iowa, and Clinton today would therefore have been the nominee. Our voters and Edwards’ voters were the same people. They were older, pro-union. Not all, but maybe two-thirds of them would have been for us and we would have barely beaten Obama.”

Considering that she was being given money so lavishly by another guy and the National Enquirer, she still should have some money. But if she needs child support, she can take the real father to court and get it.

Everybody has been so quick to vilify John Edwards and suggest that his marriage isn’t solid.
Sex isn’t always indicative of the solidity of a marriage.
Mrs. Edwards has cancer, and, maybe, sometimes,
when she is on various medications, sexual intercorse is not always possible. I think Mrs. Edwards “whom John obviously adores” is wise enough to distinguish true love from a sexual dalliance.

    Yeah, that one always works.
