What we really need is a Homeland Security Secretary with an Al Qaeda membership card

I just don’t know what to make of the revelation that Timothy Geithner, the new U.S. Treasury Secretary, failed to pay his own income taxes for several years.

I just don’t know.

Hey! Can we ask Stephen Colbert if it was all just an “innocent mistake”? Yes we can:

What could be more delicious? A Secretary of State with international conflicts of interest? (Check.) A Chief of Staff linked to a corrupt, impeached governor? (Check.) A Commerce Secretary in a pay-for-play scandal? (Check.)

Oops — that Commerce Secretary nominee already withdrew his nomination to save face. If I were him, I’d be pretty ticked off. Turns out it’s all good.

Any chance the incoming Secretary of Defense ever vandalized an army recruiting station? Or how about a Health and Human Services nominee who’s been convicted of spreading bird-flu and AIDS? A downsizing and outsourcing consultant as Secretary of Labor ?

Hope. Change. Meet the new boss …

At Least Mickey Rourke Left His Clothes On In New PETA Ad

mickey-rourke-for-petaWhat was it that Mickey Rourke said about activist actors? That they “tend to be ill-informed finger-pointers who just cozy up to some flavor-of-the-month liberal”? What if you replace the word “liberal” with “animal-rights organization”?

Because Mickey is heading up PETA’s newest ad campaign about neutering your dog. The sentiment is one of few that I actually agree with PETA on, but did he really think it through before deciding to carry PETA’s jock?

This is a man who appreciates the finer things in life, such as wearing a leather vest to a bondage party in South Beach. Or showing off his assets in a pair of tight leather pants. And kicking back at interviews in his signature leather motorcycle jacket.

Actually, it seems the only time he isn’t wearing leather is in the ad for PETA. Although given his track record, he’s probably wearing lambskin tighty whiteys.

I wonder if PETA had the cojones to tell him that draping yourself in animal skins while stumping for PETA is the fastest way to climb the Top Ten Deceivers list. Because it totally is.
