Just a short update since we all knew it would come to this.
The producers of “Speed-the-Plow” say they have filed a grievance with Actors’ Equity Association, the stage actors’ union, against Jeremy Piven for abruptly leaving the Broadway revival last month.
Piven quit the David Mamet comedy less than two months after it opened to favorable reviews at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. The actor’s doctor said Piven was unable perform because of high levels of mercury in his system, possibly caused by eating large amounts of raw fish.
No date for the grievance proceedings was announced.
I guess the second medical opinion didn’t support his quack doctor’s diagnosis. Oopsies!

It’s nice to see someone getting what they deserve.
I hate to be “that” guy, but I am over this story. Piven Sucks, he’s a lying D-bag…and he doesn’t really deserve this much coverage. It would be like running 8 articles on Clint Howard…
At least Clint Howard is cool.
Exactly!
Right Pasta!
I’m wondering if even though Piven’s “dream is to be on stage”, maybe he realized that he just couldn’t cut it (talent or stress wise) and decided to get out before being graded as lousy at it by the critics after the play opened. Just a thought.
C’mon Jrod, admit it – you’re just mad that this story won’t go away because you’d never, *ever* hit that.
Clint Howard could act better than the Piv.
I second Jrod . . . story’s lost it’s interest!
I also agree with JRod. Who is this Piven and why is he even “relevant” enough to merit any press (don’t need any answers, I really don’t care to know LOL)?
It looks like the play has only improved since Piven left, according to our friends at the Times:

Not too surprising either, since both Macy and Norbert Leo Butz can act circles around our ailing friend…
