I'm glad he chose to withdraw his nomination. Either he has a shred of decency or Rahm Emmanuel put him in a headlock and gave him a noogie until Tom said Uncle.

jenn - I saw this article today and saw where you posted about Obama and his "promises"
PROMISES, PROMISES: No lobbyists at WH, except ...

WASHINGTON – Barack Obama promised a "clean break from business as usual" in Washington. It hasn't quite worked out that way.

From the start, he made exceptions to his no-lobbyist rule. And now, embarrassing details about Cabinet-nominee Tom Daschle's tax problems and big paychecks from special interest groups are raising new questions about the reach and sweep of the new president's promised reforms.

This administration stuff just keeps gettin' better and better.

Jake Tapper this morning:

Another Tax Problem for Obama Nominee
February 03, 2009 10:28 AM

The informal battle between members of the Obama Administration and the Taxman resulted in a casualty Tuesday, with news that President Obama's nominee to be chief performance officer, Nancy Killefer, will withdraw her nomination following the revelation that she had a $946.69 lien on her property in 2005 for failure to pay taxes.

Killefer, who was announced to much fanfare by President Obama on Jan. 7 to serve in the new position to make the U.S. government "more effective, more efficient, and more transparent," is the third high-level Obama Administration official whose failure to pay taxes in recent years was disclosed in the past month.
