For the Benefit of Those of You Who Don’t Read the Comments

A Blast From the Past: Tom Daschle, the disgraced “Limousine Liberal,” in a vintage campaign ad.

Just because.

Hat tip: Deceiver reader Fortunate Son

Update: Robert Gibbs tries the ol’ Jedi mind trick:

Despite the tax problems faced by high-level nominees, and the exceptions made to the no-lobbyists pledge, President Barack Obama’s spokesman is defending the administration’s ethical standards.

Robert Gibbs told reporters Tuesday, “The bar that we set is the highest that any administration in the country has ever set.”

Which must be why all these Obama appointees keep limboing right under it.

Just wondering where the 100K to pay the back taxes came from? Most public servants don’t make that much money to save such a large chunk. Hmm maybe that is why he “withdrew”. Is there any such thing as an honest politician?

It’s a regular Deceiver-palooza on the Democrats today! What else could happen? Oh yeah – after making fun of the Chief Justice for screwing up Obama’s oath, Biden screwed up Clinton’s oath!

You can even hear the people in the background say “get it right” before they start, and everyone gives a hearty chuckle at the thought. Seriously, SNL couldn’t come up with something this funny if they tried.

    I agree with Simon!!

And Scott, thanks for sharing that, too. Funny how no one’s bringing that up.

Thanks guys, and thanks Jenn for the John Edwards tip.

The insides scoop on the Elizabeth Edwards book is that it portrays Rielle Hunter as a conniving, controlling manipulator obsessed with bedding famous men.

Now we all know she’s had her share of celebri-bed-buddies, including yoga personalities and a few people with CD’s in publication, but Elizabeth Edwards’ account will be a very targeted attempt to turn the public’s perception from “Poor Rielle” to “Rielle the Manipulator”.

The book is “embargoed” until its release date (no early excerpts, no book of the week clips) because Lizzy wants to hit hard and cut Rielle clean. The avalanche of publicity that will accompany “Resilience” and Elizabeth’s accompanying one month book tour is apparently designed to shout down any response from Rielle Hunter.

This is a big risk for Elizabeth Edwards, but if Rielle Hunter stays mum, it will pay off. If Rielle Hunter pre-empts her on the interview circuit, it will be disastrous for Elizabeth Edwards.

I wonder how big a carbon footprint that Pontiac has?

Very astute observations Fortunate Son. Whole lot of manipulating and game playing on both sides. It is going to be interesting to see how this all plays out … and if anyone still cares.

“This is a big risk for Elizabeth Edwards, but if Rielle Hunter stays mum, it will pay off.”

Certainly. But Reille still has her ‘ace in the hole’: she’s got John Edwards’ baby. And it’s time to go to the peoples’ court!

I enjoyed this from the Fox report:

“And don’t think for a minute that Hunter is going to allow herself to be portrayed as a groupie, sycophant or gold digger. Far from it. I’m told that if “Resilience” minimizes her at all, Hunter will not shy away from showing her own “resilience.””

    Awwww…yeah…

When did that ad come out? That was awesome!

But..I thought this was going to be the most ethical and transparent administration EVAH!
Remember, we can’t have our thermostats set at 72 degrees..unless thy name is obama.

Let’s see…over the past eight years, liberals have been chanting that “Dissent is the highest form of patriotism”.

YAY! I’m gonna be SO patriotic! I think I’ll start by showing Obama and his bulldog-jawed SO every bit of the respect and courtesy that liberals showed the Bush family.

  18. 18 Aleric Feb 4th, 2009 at 9:34 am

I wonder if Tom Daschle sees this politcal ad and laughs at how gullible people were to believe he would remain honest and ethical after swimming in the politcal cess pool that is Washington DC.

As someone pointed out months ago, Rielle Hunter shows very classic signs of Borderline Personality Disorder. If that is correct, Rielle wouldn’t be able to hold it together enough to appear the wounded party. And how does a woman who had sex with a woman’s husband, a woman with cancer, manage to appear a victim, in a love triangle? I’ve seen the videos posted here and she comes across as a hippy dippy, spacey, wide eyed moron. Elizabeth Edwards appears to be intelligent, articulate and someone who might be way more sympathetic than the navel gazing Rielle. Time will tell…..

  20. 20 Beige Feb 5th, 2009 at 9:05 am

If Elizabeth has vertebrae #1, let alone any more than that, she’ll focus more on exposing her husband for the blowdried dildo he is. Rielle…meh. She’s really not worth the ammo, figuratively speaking.
