Octomom Links Roundup

octomom_aj2People are really having a reaction to crazy Nadya Suleman and her clown-car womb, and this story keeps snowballing. And boy, is there enough hypocrisy to go around here.

Here’s a summary of all things Octomom from the past two days:

  • Angelina Jolie actually has an opinion on this broad! A source from the Jolie-Pitt camp says Angelina is “totally creeped out” by Octomom, and not just because of the plastic surgery she’s sought out to look more like Angie. Despite her dismissal of the internet chatter about the eerie resemblance, Suleman has made repeated attempts to contact the star over the past year in praise of her acting talent and humanitarian work. And, one might surmise, the productivity of her uterus.
  • Angela Suleman, the octopi’s grandmother, is striking back at the daughter who bankrupted her with her obsession with babies. Radar is hooked up with some awesome sources and managed to score this interview with Grandma, who went on the record to say, “the truth is Nadya’s not capable of raising 14 children.” No kidding.
  • Not to be outdone, Joann Killeen — one of Nadya’s publicists — has put a three-month gag order on the grandmother to prevent her from making Octomom look like she’s cashing in. Why would anyone think that?
  • The church Nadya said she was involved with has denied any connection to her, including but not limited to the alleged foundation they were setting up in her honor, any financial assistance, or finding her a new house so she can move out of her parents’ place. (That would be the home owned by the parents on whom she’s just put a gag order.) In fact, the church says, none of the clergy there have ever met the woman.
  • Just for fun: TMZ has exclusive photos of Octomom’s pregnant belly eight days before her cesarean. Not for the faint of heart.

I can never again complain about what I looked like pregnant.

It does burn the eyes doesn’t it?

  3. 3 jenn Feb 13th, 2009 at 12:57 pm

Just saw this on Hot Air – Octomoms doctor has struck again….

Does anybody have a spare set of eyes? Mine just got burned out of their sockets.
Any color will do, as long as one is all white and the other is all black.

  5. 5 Simon Scowl Feb 13th, 2009 at 1:01 pm

Thanks, Jenn, I was just about to put that up. This story just keeps getting crazier and crazier. God bless those poor kids.

  6. 6 MC Mom Feb 13th, 2009 at 1:09 pm

You guys all warned me, but I had to look anyway. Lisa, I’m with you – compared to that, I looked freakin’ fabulous at 9 months.

I think the authorities should look into this fertility doctor, especially since other doctors are criticizing his technique. I respect the woman having quadruplets for not ‘harvesting’ less viable fetuses (which is another ook-inducing issue, but beside the point here), but this guy has gotta be stopped.

  7. 7 Constance Feb 13th, 2009 at 1:13 pm

I saw the pictures of her very visually disturbing stomach yesterday and thought to myself, “If that were me, I WOULD KILL anyone trying to take even a candid of what I looked like at that point.” I’m not crazy vain or anything but my children, nor my relatives, never need to bare that witness in the future.

I’m 5 months and have a very little belly going on (I’m only 5 foot) and I don’t like to show it off to my husband. haha.

  8. 8 Les Paul Feb 13th, 2009 at 1:37 pm

Ain’t no way I’m lookin’ at that picture. A moment’s glance, but forever in the brain. Plus it sounds like my eyebubs would explode/implode. Thanks for the warnings. “Be careful little eyes, what you see…”.

  9. 9 StrawberryGirl Feb 13th, 2009 at 2:15 pm

How come nobody figured out what this chick was up to before she had the octuplets? Did her mom think, “Gee, Nadya’s looking a little zaftig these days” and let it go at that? There’s no way I could hide that kind of pregnancy from anyone, much less people I see all of the time.

  10. 10 Beige Feb 13th, 2009 at 2:36 pm

StrawberryGirl: They figured it out. They just didn’t do anything about it. Maybe Grams was hoping nature would take its usual course, and scale back a little on the chirrens, but it didn’t happen. And now we ALL get to live with the von Trapped family.

  11. 11 Beige Feb 13th, 2009 at 2:41 pm

And HA! To the AJ (Original Recipe) being all squicked out by Octomom. “EWWW, poor people! And they’re DOMESTIC poor people, not photogenic foreigners! EWW!”

  12. 12 Habanada Feb 13th, 2009 at 4:28 pm

I don’t have the courage to look at the picture :) I’ll stand with you, Les Paul.

In other news, this woman is a shame and an affront to women anywhere. Mangelina Jolie’s dissing her might just be the first/only time I’ll ever have respect for Madame Lips.

  13. 13 lilith Feb 13th, 2009 at 4:32 pm

Does anyone else thinks that her stomach looks like a huge boob?

  14. 14 Minnow Feb 13th, 2009 at 4:43 pm

Yes folks, avoid the tummy shot if you can.

Drudge has it up right now. Even at 1 inch square, it’s huge.

  15. 15 Fortunate Son Feb 13th, 2009 at 7:16 pm

Strangely vascular surface, that engorged stomach. That probably would tear your the muscles of your abdominal wall and require reconstructive surgery, at the very least.

  16. 16 katie Feb 14th, 2009 at 12:00 am

her stomach looks like a water balloon, and i would like to thank her for reminding me never to get pregnant with more than 1 child. twins run in my family.. so i would be scared if i ever wanted kids (i’m only 20) haha

  17. 17 Katy Feb 14th, 2009 at 12:31 am

I watched my boyfriend’s face as he saw the photos of preggo octo for the first time. You’d think he’d just saw someone morph into a werewolf right before his eyes, it was amazing.

  18. 18 trent bowie Feb 14th, 2009 at 1:11 am

I saw that picture yesterday and the image is STILL stuck in my head. Eeeeeeeewwwww. I really feel bad for those kids. They’re not even a month old and already they’ve been exploited for money.

She’s worse than those teenage girls you see on Maury. Hell, she’s her own tabloid show…

    Oh. Wait…

  19. 19 Queen Bee Feb 14th, 2009 at 1:47 am

Can someone explain to me how and when she got her facial enhancements? In those photos, she doesn’t appear to have the engorged lips (I call it joker mouth). One would think and she shouldn’t have been able to do that while pregnant (not that she has the best judgement to begin with). So, she must have only have had her lips done and not her nose or anything else because the nose would have needed more time to heal. I can only guess that she realized she was going to be a “star” and, somehow managed to sneak in some work before her adoring public would see her.

  20. 20 john aka schwein Feb 14th, 2009 at 1:25 pm

Oh come on! It was only some water retention! A former co-worker used that excuse until one day her water broke whilst at work. Uh..whoops!

And btw..I see zero resemblance between angie and octopussy…except they both have a case of they crazies!

  21. 21 angry army wife Feb 15th, 2009 at 3:16 pm

And now her publicist calls it quit due to “death threats”

  22. 22 Antonia Feb 15th, 2009 at 4:44 pm

I have to wonder if this woman even needed IVF. We can argue all day regarding her fitness as a mother. My main concern is with this doctor giving the woman the treatment in the first place. The biggest reason celebrities get IVF is because their ability to conceive is greatly diminished through yo-yo dieting and being underweight (and you do have a small number who are older with bodies wrecked through constant training/dieting). A woman with a BMI of less then 22% is going to have a harder time getting pregnant due to hormonal imbalance. I’m not saying women can’t get pregnant with BMI’s of less then 22%, it’s just more diffcult to do so. From what i understand both of Joile’s pregnancies were achieved with the aid of fertility doctors. This is getting somewhat freaky….I’ve going to stop the mental deduction now and just say this woman is most likely batsh*t insane.

  23. 23 Josie Feb 15th, 2009 at 7:17 pm

When I think of all the people who would be good parents to an unwanted little boy or girl and can’t adopt due to the bloated system, I sort of want to cry.

Then I read about this, and I sort of want to punch her in her inflated lips and rip that nasty fake weave right off her head, Springer Style. This is like, a perfect example of basically everything you can do wrong when approaching the idea of parenthood. My heart really bleeds for these kids, because you know as well as I do that we’re going to see them grow up developmentally disabled if they’re lucky, and emotionally scarred beyond functionality if we’re not. This woman should be put away.

  24. 24 stephanie Feb 16th, 2009 at 1:34 am

on the other hand, at least she went back and got all her fertilized embryos implanted – Mother Earth News did an awesome article on IVF and how most people, if they get one healthy baby, abandon their other embryos and leave the doctors to figure out what to do with them, which they can’t, because of legal issues. Adoptive parents would love to adopt the embryos, but with the parents nowhere to get permission from (that would be tough to do, too, wouldn’t it) –

anyway, this is a huge messy ball of moral stuff… do we let single women get IVF? is IVF even morally defensible?

My heart is with her poor little children – the mom is not well and the grandma is mad – i wonder who’s thinking about them…

  25. 25 Chronic Malanga Feb 16th, 2009 at 5:53 am

This woman disgusts me on just about every level. She is selfish, egotistical, and stupid. And that picture looked like something out of a sci fi movie. I feel so sorry for those kids. All six million of them.

  26. 26 Grace Feb 16th, 2009 at 9:45 am

Maybe I am Captain Oblivious from Planet Duh, but where did the publicist get the authority to gag the grandmother? I thought that could only be issued by a judge, but there’s no mention of any kind of court proceedings.

And if the grandma *was* paid for her interviews, good for her. She and her husband had to declare bankruptcy because of all the money they spent caring for the kids, and it’s so bad that the grandfather is going to Iraq to work.

‘Suleman goes on to describe the family’s financial situation: “The truth is that Nadya hasn’t worked since she started having her children, while [her father] and I battled to pay her bills. Nadya promised to help me with the bills, but she never has. I lost a house because of it and now I’m struggling to look after her six. We had to put in bunk beds, feed them in shifts and there’s children’s clothing piled all over the house.”‘

Meanwhile, octo-mom is getting manicures and buying Wiis.

  27. 27 Ani Feb 16th, 2009 at 5:51 pm

Antonia, she had problems with endometriosis, which basically clogged her fallopian tubes. How she actually *survived* in-vitro, or how the babies survived, I’ll never know. Excessive scarring caused by endometriosis can make it impossible to carry to term. I guess perhaps her uterus wasn’t affected as badly, and she just had issues getting the egg through the fallopian tubes to the uterus.

Either way, a history of endometriosis can make it VERY dangerous to carry one baby to term; the placenta can get so heavy that it rips away from the uterine wall and a woman can bleed to death and lose the baby.

Which… if anything…. is further proof how selfish this woman is. It isn’t noble to endanger yourself or a baby that many times- it’s reckless. Once, sure, but MOST people to in-vitro to get two kids at the most, or are simply thrilled with *one* child. Multiple times? That’s a severe psychological issue and it SHOULD have sent up not just a red flag for the doctor, but a crossing gate with flashing lights going “ding ding ding”.

  28. 28 BOYCOT OCTOMOM Feb 20th, 2009 at 5:25 pm

I just saw the “PIC”….and now I can’t stop crying. LOL…Now maybe it’s just me but for the last 5 years or so…A LOT of Hollywood starlets are getting pregnant. Now I have to admit some of them made being pregnant look sexy…and if not sexy at least kind of cute. Octomoms picture has just knocked pregnant women looking cute back about 50 years. Its funny but it would not surprise me if after she had that picture taken…she lay on a bed with her legs open…and an arm popped out and grabbed a bunch of children’s blocks that spelled out C-H-I-L-L-E-R…LMMFAO…anyone who got the CHILLER THEATER reference just got a terrible visual in the head!!!
