It is SO HARD to be Lauren Conrad, you guys. You don’t even know. That’s why she’s leaving the cast of The Hills after the fifth season — because getting her hair highlighted and sipping cocktails on the beach and gossiping about boys while not working is really, really challenging and she’s FED UP with working so hard.
L.C.’s tale of woe, in her own words:
“You see us on the show and we appear to have semi normal lives, but if you watch any entertainment news show, half of the cast is being swarmed by paparazzi,” the 23-year-old says. “I’m excited to go back to having just one life, because there were times that I got them confused. But the decision to leave is still “bittersweet,” she says. “I’ve spent the last five years making every decision be about the show. People I date have to be able to film, the places I work have to let us film and the places I live have to have set lighting.” Conrad — who has branched out as a fashion designer and author — continues: “I loved doing it and had so much fun, but it came to a point where I had done it long enough.” Conrad has kept her growing relationship with My Boys’ Kyle Howard off the show, which she calls “very difficult, because when you’re with someone, they become a very big part of your life.”
Although she calls the cast and crew “family,” she admits it’s stressful being followed 24/7. “There have been some scenes — extra scenes that’ll probably never come out — of me getting upset and taking my mic off. I say, ‘I’m done!’ and lock myself in my room,” she says. “There was a time when I was really stressed, and I would get sick a lot. I think I was sick of all of season three!”
No one knows how stressful it is seeking out your own spinoff reality show, living in a $2-million four-bedroom Spanish villa (complete with pool and pool house), driving a Mercedes CLK 320 convertible, and being a professional celebrity. I’m sure interning at Teen Vogue and doing I’m not sure what at People’s Revolution paid really well and that’s why she can afford her situation.
I’m not denying it’s hard having her leisurely life chronicled on MTV, but don’t knock the lifestyle if that’s what she’s signed up (and has been well compensated) for. Plus you know this just paves the way for The Heidi and Spencer Hour, and that is unforgivable.

“People I date have to be able to film, the places I work have to let us film and the places I live have to have set lighting.”
Huh. Me too but for completely different reasons. Lauren?
Wait you swear your dad isn’t Robert Conrad right? Well okay then.
It’s so rough being me……….
Hey Lauren, come and do my job and lets see how long you last without people waiting on you hand and foot.
Isn’t she being casted for the Melrose Place?
One down… and if I watched the show, I’d know how many it was to go.
Oh, poor thing. What a difficult life! Puleeeeez.
I wonder when the general public will get sick of these types of shows and the douches they attract so we can get back to TV shows that actually entertain and take actual thought to produce. Not asking for much. It doesn’t even have to be well written or have good acting, but anything is better than “reality” shows about self centered, entitled, whiny ass idiots.
Did any of the 13 year olds still find this show interesting? Well, I’m very happy that she will FINALLY fade away into oblivion. This means Heidi and Spencer will go away with her eventually and I will sleep much better at night.
Money can’t make you happy.
“Conrad — who has branched out as a fashion designer and author…”
Author? Seriously? What could she possibly have written??? Well, now that she doesn’t have her tv gig anymore and that her line of hideous clothing failed (to sell and in general), I suppose I should say “I sure hope she’s a better author than she is a designer”, but that just sounds so unrealistic and stupid, that I’m not gonna say that. I sure hope she has a nice savings account with a mean APY is what I’m gonna say.
oh yeah, what a rough life she has. please, give me a break. the only reason i’m a little worried about her leaving the hills is.. -gulp- what will heidi and spencer do? please GOD, don’t let them get their own show. i am begging you!
oh and heidi and spencer aren’t even considered that revelant anymore, but still. i’m not gonna lie, i am worried haha
