DECEIVER MADNESS Round 1: “Humane Society” vs. “Actress”

activists-headera6-hsus-anderson

I’m a little bit sorry that two of the phoniest elements of the animal rights movement wound up in a single-elimination battle this early in the competition. (Note the quotation marks in the title.) But that’s just the way it worked out.

deceivermadnesslogo091 What can you say about Pamela Anderson that hasn’t already been mumbled in front of ten million computer monitors while that Tommy Lee home-video is rolling? The poster child for PETA’s reliance on dumb blondes has become synonymous with animal rights — despite her love of all things leather. She’s fun to watch, but even more fun to mock. That’s why we’re here.

And the Humane Society of the United States may need to vet its animal-friendly celebrity supporters a little better after giving awards to pet-neglecting Paris Hilton and Cover Girl spokesmodel Ellen Degeneres. But what do you expect from a phony Humane Society that doesn’t actually run any pet shelters?

The voting us entirely up to you, but remember: Make the safe choice, and we could be stuck with the Humane Society vs. NBC in the second round. Wouldn’t you rather see a cat-fight between two PETA spokes-tarts? I know I would…

This poll — and today’s seven other Round 1 matchups — will be open for 24 hours. Updated Brackets will be posted tomorrow.

Deceiver Madness '09 Round 1 (Activists bracket): Pick the bigger hypocrite

  • Pamela Anderson (4) (53%)
  • The Humane Society of the United States (13) (47%)

  1. 1 Chronic Malanga Mar 9th, 2009 at 10:16 am

The Humane Society has no respect from me, but Pammy is a study in activist hypocrisy all on her own.

  2. 2 Toubrouk Mar 9th, 2009 at 10:18 am

I think lobbies can do much more damage that simple bimbos in their corner. Bimbos can be dismissed easily as being crackpot, not large groups.

  3. 3 Nivek Mar 9th, 2009 at 10:29 am

Have to go with Toubrouk on this one. Only a fool would be influenced by an “actress”.

  4. 4 Carlo Mar 9th, 2009 at 10:36 am

Went with the no fur idiot who wears dead cow hides.

  5. 5 Saro Mar 9th, 2009 at 10:52 am

I wonder if Pam’s getting worried now that Paltrow is giving her a run for “Most Abuses of the Whole Not Wearing Animals Thing” in the PETA awards.

  6. 6 Toubrouk Mar 9th, 2009 at 10:53 am

At least Paltrow can act her way out of a wet paper bag. Pam is such a mess I wish she will crawl away.

  7. 7 Swede0319 Mar 9th, 2009 at 11:00 am

HSUS is the mouthpiece for Peta.

  8. 8 Les Paul Mar 9th, 2009 at 11:05 am

At least you found a “sultry” instead of “scary” picture of her. I think it’s the red-eye that petrifies me … or is it the overdone mascara … maybe the lips, too … eeeeekk!

  9. 9 Seth Mar 9th, 2009 at 11:09 am

HSUS, the “Humane Society” with no human societies. Whole organization is a joke.

  10. 10 Pastafarian Mar 9th, 2009 at 11:36 am

    Pam’s the “man”.

  11. 11 Beige Mar 9th, 2009 at 11:41 am

Pam “Maryland is for crabs, and so am I!” Anderson, all. The. Way.

  12. 12 MrsCman Mar 9th, 2009 at 11:46 am

Humane Society – because they knowingly deceive and Pam is just an airhead.

  13. 13 Matt Mar 9th, 2009 at 11:52 am

I don’t get why PETA isn’t more choosy about the people to whom their cause is attached. Voted for Pam Anderson.

  14. 14 Beige Mar 9th, 2009 at 11:53 am

Matt, here’s where that whole “Either they don’t know, or they know and think we don’t” principle comes into play. They’re apparently just counting on people to be as stupid as they are. “LOOK–boobies! Let’s listen to what she says, ’cause I like boobies!” Meh.

  15. 15 angry army wife Mar 9th, 2009 at 11:53 am

Vote for Pam Anderson who just needs to go away. Her autioning off the car with the leather seats is classic, but this last ad where she looks like a famewhore with the leather cladded biker gang/homeless couple wins a huge prize!

  16. 16 Ducky Mar 9th, 2009 at 11:56 am

I voted for the Humane Society because I thought their battle against NBC would be epic. :(

  17. 17 jenn Mar 9th, 2009 at 12:05 pm

Pam has no credibility. The Humane Society however still has this aura of fake decency about it that fools many. Pam fools no one

  18. 18 Pastafarian Mar 9th, 2009 at 12:12 pm

Some of these are a tough call.

  19. 19 Scott F. Mar 9th, 2009 at 12:14 pm

HSUS – mainly because a few people still actually LISTEN to the HSUS.

  20. 20 PJ Mar 9th, 2009 at 12:16 pm

    Pamela Anderson by a boob.

  21. 21 heather Mar 9th, 2009 at 12:34 pm

Paris received another pet for her birthday! Bring out the awards human society!

  22. 22 Dan Mar 9th, 2009 at 12:34 pm

Humane Society because Pamela can be written off pretty easily. Who looks up to her? The Humane Society is more respected by the general public (not saying much) and has more opportunity to deceive.

  23. 23 Menace Mar 9th, 2009 at 12:47 pm

Tough one, but as the Humane Society’s not putting out videos that make for awkward conversation if a kid asks about it, I’m going with Pam.

  24. 24 Runolfr Mar 9th, 2009 at 12:55 pm

What the heck? I’ll vote for the tart-faceoff.

  25. 25 thatgengirl Mar 9th, 2009 at 1:04 pm

Humane Society – I think Pam is honestly too stupid to purposely be deceitful.

  26. 26 X Mar 9th, 2009 at 1:23 pm

pam anderson is a deformed embryo with blonde hair…

  27. 27 sara Mar 9th, 2009 at 1:25 pm

Pam Anderson just for the sheer volume of hypocrisy.

  28. 28 Lisa Mar 9th, 2009 at 2:01 pm

I had to go with H.S. because to me it looks like the Humane Society is a “feeder school” for Peta. You start working at the Society and as you become a bigger hypocrite you are able to move up the ladder and work at Peta.

  29. 29 randomstalker Mar 9th, 2009 at 2:17 pm

Pamela Anderson because I hate her more. I have no idea what this other society is. Never heard of ‘em. Maybe PETA ate their importance in a terrible act of vegetarian-to-vegetarian cannibalism.

  30. 30 Anonymous Mar 9th, 2009 at 2:21 pm

    hsus

  31. 31 Discordia Mar 9th, 2009 at 2:25 pm

HUSA should know better; PA is simply a vain idiot.

  32. 32 Troy Mar 9th, 2009 at 2:56 pm

Humane Society, just because they might actually influence someone.

  33. 33 California Dave Mar 9th, 2009 at 3:15 pm

Humane Society. Pam just needs her head refilled before it implodes.

  34. 34 G Mar 9th, 2009 at 3:20 pm

The Humane Society. They are a charitable organization, which means they are actually supposed to stand for something. Their opponent has no credibility, so no one expects much of her.

  35. 35 Cynth Mar 9th, 2009 at 3:20 pm

Pamela A is a walking, talking symbol of hypocrisy from head to toe.

  36. 36 sparkyinfla Mar 9th, 2009 at 3:47 pm

Humane Society, humane to/for what? I volunteer at my local city animal shelter where the real help is needed and pets are really helped, not some national org with no actual direct assistance.

  37. 37 Queen Bee Mar 9th, 2009 at 3:49 pm

Yeah, that is a nice photo of Pam. Wow, I didn’t know such a thing existed.

  38. 38 The Oversneer Mar 9th, 2009 at 3:53 pm

Hate to break it to you, folks — but the Pam photo is from her PETA poster.

They do nice makeup over there. I wonder if it’s tested on bunnies?

  39. 39 Koka Mar 9th, 2009 at 4:19 pm

Pam’s just Paris Hilton in the future, what you see is what you get (and then some)……..the HSUS is “supposed” to help animals but all they do is promote themselves. Losers.

  40. 40 The Oversneer Mar 9th, 2009 at 4:22 pm

Funny thing you drew the Paris Hilton parallel. When Comedy Central did its Celebrity Roast of Pam Anderson, the line of the night had to be this joke from Sarah Silverman:

“Everyone says that Pam Anderson would be nothing without her tits. That is just not true. She’d be Paris Hilton.”

  41. 41 Minnow Mar 9th, 2009 at 4:42 pm

    HSUS for me.

Because Pam doesn’t solicit contributions from elderly cat-ladies living on fixed incomes.

She does solicit though, but that’s more a matter for the LAPD’s skank division.

  42. 42 Ani Mar 9th, 2009 at 4:44 pm

US Humane Society actually harms animals with their deception. Pamela is just too oblivious to notice, and she doesn’t go about euthanizing animals.

  43. 43 kbug61 Mar 9th, 2009 at 5:32 pm

    Pam, just because I can.

  44. 44 Crow Jane Mar 9th, 2009 at 5:38 pm

Pam, because she manages to be more self-righteous than the Humane Society.

  45. 45 D---- Mar 9th, 2009 at 5:56 pm

Going with the HS because when I was young and blissfully ignorant I thought they did good work…I mean with a name like that they just had to…

  46. 46 Anonymous Mar 9th, 2009 at 6:32 pm

hsus spends over $60 million a year on fundraising; its long-term former CEO
Paul Irwin is a televangelist with ties to the porno industry (covered by
Deceiver last spring)and current head Wayne Pacelle LOOKS like a porn star
and is a pathological liar. No contest.

  47. 47 luscious_t Mar 9th, 2009 at 7:03 pm

Pam Anderson, how do you repulse me? Let me count the ways…

  48. 48 Kristine Mar 9th, 2009 at 7:09 pm

Pam might be stupid, but she’s not hurting anyone… unlike the HS.

  49. 49 Meg B. Mar 9th, 2009 at 7:53 pm

Pam for going against research that could oneday cure her dieaseses

  50. 50 Nick Mar 9th, 2009 at 7:57 pm

The humane society is still nowhere near PETA’s level of idiocy. Pam gets my vote.

  51. 51 Bucky Katt Mar 9th, 2009 at 7:58 pm

She’s probably not smart enough to know what hypocrisy is, but I can’t with hold a vote out of pity.

  52. 52 Rocco Lore Mar 9th, 2009 at 8:16 pm

This is a draw, but I’m going with Pam for being an all-around hypocrite.

  53. 53 Marc Mar 9th, 2009 at 8:52 pm

Sorry…not many people can hold a candle to Pams’ hypocrisy…except the insTITutions (sorry, it was too easy) she shills for …Humane society would get smoked by PETA later anyway..(and put into a dumpster behind a Krispy Kreme no doubt…)

  54. 54 Nati Mar 9th, 2009 at 9:27 pm

I voted for ugg boots-wearing, leather bags-spotting, meat-serving, zoo-frequenting “vegetarian” Pam. Not to mention the leather seats in (at least one of) her cars.

  55. 55 kp Mar 9th, 2009 at 10:16 pm

Pam harms animals and humans alike by continuing to wear those disgusting leotards!

  56. 56 That person Mar 9th, 2009 at 11:08 pm

I voted for Pam, because in the event of Day After Tomorrow-esque flooding from ZOMG! WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!! GLOBAL WARMING!!, I hope she’ll remember my support. Why is that important? Puppies don’t double as flotation devices…

  57. 57 Christine Mar 9th, 2009 at 11:49 pm

Pam Anderson because she is….well, herself.

  58. 58 Rocko Mar 10th, 2009 at 12:06 am

Pam. I don’t need a reason. If you read Deceiver, you know the reasons.

  59. 59 k Mar 10th, 2009 at 12:30 am

Pam Anderson, mainly because she’s so insanely hypocritical. And insane. I mean, the way she treated Bob Bob The Rockin’ Rock should be enough.

  60. 60 katie Mar 10th, 2009 at 1:52 am

same here rocko! i voted pam.

  61. 61 egh Mar 10th, 2009 at 2:15 am

I doubt Anderson has the capacity to be intentionally deceptive. But even if it’s on purpose, a lifetime of her hypocrisy wouldn’t do anywhere near the damage H$U$ does in a week with the act it puts on.

  62. 62 Sheila Mar 10th, 2009 at 2:48 am

It was a tough choice, but I guess HSUS is a bigger hypocrite because Wayne Pacelle speaks out of both sides of his mouth. Have you noticed how often he has changed his story about why he became interested in “animal causes”? At one time he said it was a trip to the Bronx Zoo when he was in high school; the most recent story is that he was a park ranger at Isle Royale while in college. I can’t even vkisualize him in the Great Outdoors!

He used to say that he had no particular liking of animals, and had not been raised with pets. Now he has changed that to remembering his childhood pets, and he has worked his way up to being able to hold his girlfriend’s cat long enough for a photo shoot.

He makes me sick. He’s never repudiated “One generation and out” but now he pretends to bec concerned about pets. I think when he realized that people were actually listening to him, and comparing his earlier and later quotes, he started soft-pedaling his rhetoric.

  63. 63 angry army wife Mar 10th, 2009 at 9:03 am

I am still giggling over the fact that Pam Anderson is considered and “actress.” I never though that running on a beach in slow motion was acting. I guess men think differently :)

  64. 64 Underestimated Mar 10th, 2009 at 9:17 am

This was a tough one but I went for Pam.

  65. 65 Jennie Mar 10th, 2009 at 9:24 am

Tough choice. But the louder one (Pammy) took it in the end. No pun intended.

  66. 66 Chuwah Mar 10th, 2009 at 10:27 am

    Pam.

  67. 67 Pat Hawk Mar 10th, 2009 at 11:22 am

HSUS is by far the biggest deceiver. Pam Anderson is a dumb blonde who uses PETA to gain her own publicity.
