DECEIVER MADNESS Round 1: The One vs. The Walrus

politicos-headerb4-obama-mccartney

It truly breaks my heart to see this matchup happening in an early round, and between two such fine, non-hypocritical fellows.

deceivermadnesslogo091Barack Obama, after all, is thegreatestpersonwhoeverlived. (At least that’s what the usually infallible newspapers and TV network news anchors keep telling me.) How on earth could The One be accused of any sort of hypocrisy whatsoever?

I’m baffled, and I promise to take this up with the selection committee — as soon as he’s out of office and the Fairness Doctrine police can’t retaliate.

And then there’s Sir Paul McCartney, the Arch-Duke of Abbey Road. He won’t catch up to his one-legged ex anytime this century, but he did presume to scold the Dalai Lama on the tenets of Buddhism, and he expanded his already-huge carbon footprint by shipping an “eco-friendly” Lexus from Japan to England. On a carbon-spewing aircraft. He still carries a lovely tune, though. Unless that tune is in a Starbucks. Which still pays him royalties.

This poll — and today’s seven other Round 1 matchups — will be open for 24 hours. Updated Brackets will be posted tomorrow.

Deceiver Madness '09 Round 1 (Politicos bracket): Pick the bigger hypocrite

  • Barack Obama (4) (65%)
  • Paul McCartney (13) (35%)

Although McCartney lecturing the Dalai Lama was pretty unbelievable, Obama’s hypocrisy times the hypocrisy of his worshippers (the loyal news media, for example, who criticized Bush for little things but pretend the big things Obama did never happened) plus the next four years of his “do as I say while I do what I want” . . . He’s got my vote. Votes? (Psst–what’s it take to vote for Obama more than once in this poll? I’m homeless . . . uh . . . with . . . with an internet connection . . . somehow . . .)

  2. 2 Nivek Mar 10th, 2009 at 10:25 am

I hope these’s some change in my change jar at the end of these next 4 years……

  3. 3 Toubrouk Mar 10th, 2009 at 10:27 am

Obama. Just for the Audacity of Hope and for the Change.

  4. 4 MrsCman Mar 10th, 2009 at 10:33 am

Obama – he’s just a motto and a campagin slogan right now.

  5. 5 Rocco Lore Mar 10th, 2009 at 10:35 am

Obama. He says we should save, but what about those nightly wagyu steak cocktail parties?

  6. 6 Dan Mar 10th, 2009 at 10:41 am

Obama because he stole his campaign slogan from Bob the Builder. That’s plagarism, jackass!

  7. 7 Carlo Mar 10th, 2009 at 10:49 am

The Dalai Lama thing is funny, but President Hopenchange wins in a landslide.

  8. 8 Seth Mar 10th, 2009 at 10:54 am

If only Barack was running against Paul the first time around.

  9. 9 Jill Mar 10th, 2009 at 11:08 am

Tough one, but I went with “The New Messiah (TM)”.

  10. 10 Swede0319 Mar 10th, 2009 at 11:08 am

Paul. Because he married stumpy for “true love”

  11. 11 angry army wife Mar 10th, 2009 at 11:12 am

Obama because he wants us to keep our thermastates low, but likes his at a balmy 72 degrees. Plus, he cannot live without his teleprompter, loves to laugh at people who cannot stand the snow, but cancels a press conference because of the snow. Ethics means hiring lobbyists and people who won’t pay taxes. Pork, earmarks? Not in his administration, but let’s look at these stimulus packages. I could go on, but he reeks of crap. Hope and change means that he can change his mind at any time.

  12. 12 Chronic Malanga Mar 10th, 2009 at 11:15 am

I expect hypocrisy from politicians, so my vote went to Paul and his audacity he displayed in giving the Dalai Lama messed up medical advice. He insulted doctors and the Lama all in one go.

  13. 13 Pastafarian Mar 10th, 2009 at 11:23 am

Barak. And man I hate the Beatles. I hate them like poison so it was a hard decision. If you like the Beatles please step in front of a bus. Today.

  14. 14 Christine Mar 10th, 2009 at 11:26 am

I hate the Beatles so much that I voted for Barak because I can’t stand the thought of Sir Paul winning something.

  15. 15 Lisa Mar 10th, 2009 at 11:32 am

Hope and Change. Because I just love it when my taxes go up.

  16. 16 D---- Mar 10th, 2009 at 11:48 am

Barrack because so far he has done the same things Bush has done. Bush said we would be out of Iraq in 2011 and leave a contingency force. Mr Hope and change is doing the same.

Bush ignored Mexico and it’s growing problems, Obama hasn’t said word one.

Bring accountability to Washington and at least 3 high profile cabinet selections have cheated on their taxes…

  17. 17 Ross Mar 10th, 2009 at 11:49 am

Obama, because a senator with the most liberal voting record is OBVIOUSLY a moderate!
Heck, I totally believed him during the election that he would bring change. He changed his positions on just about everything during the election. Sometimes weekly.

  18. 18 Marc Mar 10th, 2009 at 11:50 am

While Sir Pud is pretty bad, Obama is helping others be hypocritical daily, empowering them to ignore basic common sense, all the while giving them a golden…or dark bronze-ish, at least…idol at which to bow down at. Another big O that will win and move on!

  19. 19 jenn Mar 10th, 2009 at 11:53 am

This will be the only time I ever vote for Obama

  20. 20 thatgengirl Mar 10th, 2009 at 12:06 pm

Paul. He’s just another big fat “do as I say not as I do” walrus.

  21. 21 X Mar 10th, 2009 at 12:11 pm

Obama is a lawyer. ’nuff said.

  22. 22 Minnow Mar 10th, 2009 at 1:00 pm

Hey Satan, you better put your parka on. I just voted for Obama.

  23. 23 Hjay Mar 10th, 2009 at 1:13 pm

Paul is definitely a hypocrite, where are his tusks?

  24. 24 California Dave Mar 10th, 2009 at 1:19 pm

Obama. His hypocrisy is screwing things up far far more than Paul’s.

  25. 25 Crow Jane Mar 10th, 2009 at 1:23 pm

The King of All Things Hopey and Changey, Obama

  26. 26 Ani Mar 10th, 2009 at 1:28 pm

I voted McCartney. He doesn’t have a system of checks and balances behind him that can prevent ideas that aren’t favorable.

  27. 27 Kristine Mar 10th, 2009 at 1:28 pm

I’m finally on the Obama-gasm… the first vote was just amazing.

  28. 28 Beige Mar 10th, 2009 at 1:37 pm

They’re both wearing the Liar Britches, but as someone posted above, Barry’s hypocrisy has far greater impact.

  29. 29 Rocko Mar 10th, 2009 at 1:51 pm

Obama has won every other award last year, why not this year too. He may just kill my John Edwards prediction and win it all. I’d love to see him and PeTA square off.

  30. 30 angry army wife Mar 10th, 2009 at 1:52 pm

Minnow – LOL! I agree, this is the first and only vote the Annointed One will ever receive from me.

  31. 31 kbug61 Mar 10th, 2009 at 2:02 pm

Had to go Sir Paul on this because he has been so non-relevant for years BUT WE CAN’T GET RID OF HIM–and I’m still holding on to my hope card.

  32. 32 C L Mar 10th, 2009 at 2:27 pm

Everybody knows that Paul is dead, can he even qualify as a hypocrite from the grave?

  33. 33 Anna Mar 10th, 2009 at 2:37 pm

Toot-toot!!! Time to board the Obama train!!!

  34. 34 Ducky Mar 10th, 2009 at 3:03 pm

    Flipped and voted for Obama.

  35. 35 PJ Mar 10th, 2009 at 3:15 pm

No mas! I voted for Paul by default.

  36. 36 Saro Mar 10th, 2009 at 3:27 pm

Paul, because he is just another entertainer who needs to follow the tenet of less talk, more rock.

  37. 37 kp Mar 10th, 2009 at 3:56 pm

Obama because every time I saw anything slightly negative or critical about his leadership I get attacked and called racist.

  38. 38 Fortunate Son Mar 10th, 2009 at 4:10 pm

Mark my words. Barack Obama will be a one term president. Capital Hill watchers have reported that in his first six weeks, he has spent more than $20,000 for every citizen in the united States. If you’re a family of four, Obama has spent $80,000 of your future tax debt.

I’m not sure most Americans can understand figures like billion and trillion, but suffice it to say Home Depot has $17 Billion dollars in sales each year. Just one economic stimulus package alone was equal to 50 times the annual revenue of Home Depot.

Worried about the environment? The amount Obama has spent so far would have purchased Toyota Prius’ for ever registered driver in the US. (but not children, infants, etc).

    Getting the picture?

  39. 39 Matt Mar 10th, 2009 at 4:11 pm

This is a tough one. Both of these men have the power and/or resources to have me killed, so it’s tough to go one way or the other. I voted for Obama. His presidency is early in the game, while Macca has given the world “Let It Be” and “Eleanor Rigby”. That swings it to Barack.

  40. 40 k80 Mar 10th, 2009 at 4:44 pm

    The One FTW!

  41. 41 Nati Mar 10th, 2009 at 5:01 pm

mmm…I wasn’t sympathizing with Obama during his presidential campaign…but I kinda feel bad for him now, that man is getting no love :D Also, the ever-present anticipation of impending doom, chaos and catastrophe now that he’s the president, is quite annoying and a bit premature. And I don’t like what Paul has turned into, he gets my vote.

P.S. Guys, how can you possibly hate the Beatles?

  42. 42 Koka Mar 10th, 2009 at 5:16 pm

    Obama.

The ONLY change I have seen is the pitiful bit left in my pocket. And at the rate he is spending someone else will have that too……while HE holds on to his $3 mil house in Chi town.

  43. 43 Troy Mar 10th, 2009 at 5:39 pm

Sir Paul, since all politicians are whores and to expect something different is just foolish.

  44. 44 k Mar 10th, 2009 at 5:51 pm

Oh, this one was easy. I picked The Messiah, Savior Of The World. Why? Because as hypocritical as Sir Paul is, his actions won’t get us poorer than we already are, jobless and homeless, sold out to other countries, another terrorist attack, or into a nuclear war.

At least, I don’t think so. Wonder what would happen if he stopped his payments to Heather?

  45. 45 Nick Mar 10th, 2009 at 6:30 pm

Obama. There is no way he could lose this one. He and his party launch a $787,000,000,000 “Stimulus Bill” followed by a $410,000,000,000 Spending Bill and there is talk of another bill coming soon. Then Obama has the audacity to complain about military spending and try to attack earmarks.

  46. 46 G Mar 10th, 2009 at 8:11 pm

BO, because I’m still waiting for that change.

  47. 47 Rocko Mar 10th, 2009 at 8:34 pm

What’s with all the negative Obama talk? You people still have your hope even if you don’t have your change.

  48. 48 That person Mar 10th, 2009 at 8:58 pm

I picked Obama, since I can imagine ol’ Pauly bumbling and fumbling around, completely bemused, when someone tells him about shipping the car from Japan.
“But I thought…wait…it’s not able to turn into a flying robot that emits rainbows and clean air?” That’s adorable. And a common misconception.

  49. 49 milk 'em Mar 10th, 2009 at 10:18 pm

Obama. Maybe I’m just pissed because I still haven’t received my unicorn.

  50. 50 heather Mar 10th, 2009 at 10:51 pm

I had to go with Obama on this one. I picked him before I read the comment about his hypocrisy having a greater impact but I completely agree with it.

  51. 51 randomstalker Mar 11th, 2009 at 12:22 am

McCartney’s the one I’m voting for here. He’s insane. You just don’t scold the Dalai Lama. I bet the poor guy didn’t even know who McCartney is.

  52. 52 RaraAvis Mar 11th, 2009 at 1:01 am

Paul. Barack didn’t marry Heather Mills without a prenup, then immediately impregnate her. Oops, am I confusing stupidity with deceitfulness?

  53. 53 PKAmmoTroop Mar 11th, 2009 at 8:47 am

Barak – you keep the change, I’ll keep my guns. I have a feeling I’m going to need them soon.

  54. 54 Redhead Mar 11th, 2009 at 8:56 am

Obama all the way. Mr. “No Earmarks”. Mr. “No Lobbyists.” Mr. “Only the people of the highest ethical standards will serve in my cabinet.” He’s only been in office 50 days and already, he’s proven his Deceiver-worthiness.

  55. 55 luscious_t Mar 11th, 2009 at 9:18 am

I voted for Paul. Although I adore the Beatles, I find preachy deceptive celebs for less palatable than preachy deceptive politicians. I mean, are there any other kind of the latter?
